MSNBC Round 2: Joe Scarborough Vs. David Shuster

What's Your Reaction?
Joe

Twelve hours after sparring with Keith Olbermann, Joe Scarborough smacked down David Shuster on "Morning Joe" live from Denver Tuesday morning in a discussion of troop withdrawal. As noted here, here and here, Scarborough had little use for Shuster trying to steer the conversation, mocked claims of MSNBC's staff independence when Shuster accusingly call Joe a Republican while referring to himself as an independent, and also had little patience for Shuster repeatedly sleeping through appearances on his show in the past.

"Shuster, I have no idea what you're talking about.... Have you been sleeping the past couple months?... Do you never watch this show?.... You usually sleep through this show because you didn't show up three times in a row."

Watch five wholly uncomfortable minutes of it here:

Why does Scarbourough work for MSNBC anyway? Shouldn't he be at Fox News with the rest of the republican butt kissers?
12:46 PM on 09/22/2008
I think it's all to MSNBC's credit that it shows a plurality of viewpoints. ScarbORough (hard name to spell correctly) has spoken with and about a variety of candidates and he has said positive things about the Democrats AS OFTEN AS about the Republicans. So, when Shuster momentarily lumped him in with the many slanted and one-sided pundits (on Fox as you say but also on MSNBC) , he naturally reacted and vigorously defended himself. I think that it's a sign of his respect for Shuster that he reacted so vehemently. It communicated how much he esteems Shuster's opinion. I think the serious voter should take advantage of the wide variety of sources that the internet gives us.

Morning Joe is a terrific show - if Joe is not there!
If Andrea Mitchell ever subs for Mika again, pay close attention to how Joe NEVER cuts her off, NEVER talks over her, NEVER does any of the rude and often mean things he does and says to Mika and his guests. He seems to know who he can push around and who he better not mess with........oh, I just can't stand him!!!
Here is my question - What or Who keeps him on the air?

I turn off MSNBC when JOE is on nowadays. It's a great time to watch C-SPAN! Joe has become boring, loud and he interrupts constantly. He loves the sound of his own voice more than he cares about anyone he's talking to. It's become unintelligent and I felt like I had lost IQ points after the show was over.
He has stated that he is a "conservative" and a "republican". However, he doesn't say it often enough to let the "new and occasional viewer" in on the secret. If I want 3 hours of THAT side of the story, I'll just watch FOX. "Joe is a conservative"...it should say that on the screen every time they have the name of his show. He should not hide it.

Forget party. Joe Scarborogh is just a bully. He also repeats Republican talking points on a daily basis. I'm glad David Schuster called him out.

Yikes, I feel sorry for Mika... Poor woman. I've seen wives try to control their husbands after a night of drinking who have that same deer in the headlights look. Too hateful and certainly not intelligent!

I'm a Democrat and I hate Joe. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone as well. It's not so much his views that I hate, but I just dislike him as a person. He's such a drama queen. He can't handle an argument without turning into a baby about it.

His party? His party? It wasn't that long ago when he was standing there on the same stage watching George Bush and John McCain embrace a few years back. And now it's not his party? Please.

Morning Joe is an arrogant bully! Always looking to pick a fight. He has such a large chip on his shoulder. And, he doesn't know when to shut-up! He likes to keep the argueing going. Those creepy, little-bitty, eyes get even more creepy, when he's battleing with someone. I wish he would go so I can start back watching MSNBC during his time slot. What a jerk!

Do you men Pinnocchio Joe...

Yes, he is, and wait how much worse he wil be on Monday. THe Republican Schill's assignment for Friday was to overtalk any Obama Speech news with the VP Choice. And still when questioned, he will say the old "no one owns me" bull over and over again. Why does he love Jeb Bush so much well maybe Jeb helped Joe secure his MSNBC job. Joe'ssecond wife was Jeb's aid

We all know the VP Candidate he pretended to know nothing of will "awesome" and the Evangelicals best choice. Huckabee, Joe's best friend is responsible for the choice, and make public statements regaring the choice of a Mormon for VP.

We all know what all topics will revert to __ and I predict his new best friend Bill Donahue from the Catholic League will be only to happy to have his face on TV with Joe many times. If it gives Donahue face time, he will be only to happy to carry their water and tell the Bishops what to do. Bill will, like Joe, use my faith for political purposes, and Joe will throw Bill under the bus again as soon as the election is over.

This is why when I'm on travel I don't fall asleep to MSNBC, becaue I know when I wake up it will be to Joe Scarborough. David Shuster always calls him on his crap, and he always respond the same way - filibustering.

Now we get to the season in politics where now that withdrawing is inevitable the right will try to say that's what they've been for all along. There's a word for that. It rhymes with Hip-Hop.

I have never watched the show, I will never do it. The guy is just obnoxious, typical macho attitude and have no manners.

Being out west, I tivo both Morning Joe and Imus and then fast forward to the people I want to hear. I usually watch MSNBC much of the time, so I like to hear their pundits. But Imus still has great interviews.
That being said, I cannot stand Joe Scarborough. Not only does he think he's better at EVERYTHING else than anyone else, he is incredibly demeaning to Mika Brzezinski. I don't understand how an intelliigent, classy lady has to deal with that kind of behavior. I think he envies her education and background.
David Shuster is a first class reporter. His reports have been my favorite segments in the PM broadcasts on MSNBC. Again, a talented classy guy. Scarborough is probably envious of Shuster as well. Scarborough is a first class idiot and a bully.
Phil Griffin--Get rid of him. The best times for Morning Joe were when he was gone on family leave.

Good riddens to Chris (interrupt everyone all the time) Matthews and Keith (should've stayed on ESPN--no wait he is good for nothing) Olbermann. Most of you don't make any sense and are obviously drinking the koolaid of Barack Hussein Obama whose history you do not even know the tip of the iceberg, especially if you glorify CM and KO. I don't watch Morning Joe very much but Mika is a no-brainer. And now MSNBC is putting on the Rachel (Air America) Maddow. What is it with you Dems--it's okay to speak about religion (or pseudo-religion) if you are Barrack Hussein Obama or Hillary Clinton, but not if you are Gov Sarah Palin or President George W. Bush or Sen. John McCain? Your comment that David Shuster is a first class reporter, hmmm, what about his comment about the Clintons' pimping out Chelsea Clinton during the primaries and the Clintons had him "chastised". Do you think the Clintons are behind the "lowering" of CM and KO because they were part of the mainstream media who were "so mean to poor Hillary"?

Bring it on, busters! We are ready!

you ever notice when joe is losing an argument, he always falls into the same pattern: loud arrogance, then feigned hurt and victim like appeals to the others in the room.

Lol @ 3 times sleeping through the alarm.

Huffington Post is doing everything in their power to make it seem like MSNBC is falling apart, despite the continuous, steady rise in viewers over the past few years. Looks like Rupert Murdoch bought Huffington Post guys, time to find a new site.

Uhhh clearly Huffington post is NOT the only place noticing the inner squabbling at MSNBC. Although I will say that things do go a hell of a lot smoother when Joe's not involved. RE: Rachel Maddow, Pat Buchanan and Chris and Keith in front of that always large crowd every night after the end of the convention day.
