Rick Warren is moonlighting again. Fresh off interviewing Barack Obama and John McCain at a presidential forum, the popular evangelical pastor is in talks with Reader's Digest Association to launch a magazine inspired by his book The Purpose-Driven Life.

According to sources familiar with the details, RDA will publish the first test-issue of the magazine, whose working title is Purpose, as early as this fall. Joe Treen, a former editor at People and Discover, will edit it.

Warren lost any respect he would ever have gotten from me with the lies about Mc Cain and the Cone Of Slience !!!!

He said " if Mc Cain had see or heard the questions the Secret Service would have told me ".

That is a lie the Secret Service never talks to anyone about anything the person they are guarding does, where they go, or what the see or say !!!!!!!!

Even my 10 year old know this !!!!!!!!!

Are the Christians who listen to him that weak minded or just brainwashed ????

Maybe the Evangelicals....but excuse me...they do not represent all Christians.

As a progressive Christian, I welcome Rick warren's opening up his message. What the world needs is to see that the "Moral Majority" and "Religious Right" were hoaxes perpetuated by snake oil salesmen. The progressive movement is largely composed of people who follow actual Christian teachings, some saved, some not. Rick Warren's ability to communicate a wholesome and complete message carrying Christ's teaching to us on a very personal level is amazing and positive. I would suggest that before people condemn the work, read the book.

Jesus is being used by some just like any commercial consumer product to make big bucks, creating multi-billion dollar tax exempt industry called religion.

Some people are made more famous and poplular than Jesus by wearing religion on their sleeves.

However, these people neither walk the walk of Jesus nor live like Jesus. They live a mega-buck life style. Using Jesus as talkng points to generate heavy load of cash out of the unsuspecting,
emotional; misinformed, uninformed public, and sometimes just plain ignorant people, brain washed to believe that they will go to hell after death.if they don't lead their lives according to some one, claiming to be holiness of some sort, and spreading such fear.

Rick looks very Fair-I-See, but he's actually very Sad-U-See.

This is just wrong on so many levels, I can't even describe it.

R- The Rick Magazine??? When did evangelicals forget their purpose as disciples. Poor Jesus. I weep for you.

Isn't gluttony a sin for evangelicals? Here's an idea for Warren and all the other obese and overweight bible thumpers: skip 1 meal a day and save the money and send it to countries where starvation is rampant. You will also save us all on your future health care costs - send that savings to folks who can't get health care. I am really disgusted seeing these folks, like Jerry Falwell, preaching moral behavior and then showing their apathy toward (what supposedly God gave them to care for) their bodies.

I won't disagree but you know, they don't see it that way at all, they have a very twisted biblical view of the body! Rapture is their thing. They'd be much better off making a lateral to artistic expression (but won't) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8WGFzZluMk. (yeah, ends on an anti-evangelical note). OBAMA BIDEN IOWA 08
