Arkansas Didn't Mean To Go Unanimous For Obama

According to Rebecca Gwatney from the Arkansas delegation, the last line of the state's roll call speech was cut off by the Secretary. Instead of casting all 47 votes for Barack Obama, they only meant to cast 37, with 8 votes for Hillary Clinton. (Two of the state's 47 delegates were absent.) When the chair announced all 47 votes for Obama, many delegates from other states rose to cheer the state for their unanimous statement, which now appears to have only been a clerical mistake.

"It's no big deal," one Arkansas delegate told the Huffington Post.

The nicest gift of all was to Obama, courtesy of George Soros and the DNC.

Here we see another poor victim of Sorosophobia. Please give generously to the Obama campaign. The national health care reform put forward in his administration will allow those whose minds are being destroyed by this disease to get help.

And the point is ... what??? Whether they did or didn't, the outcome is the same---now move along, folks ...

I believe this is what the delegation speaker said...

"As requested by Hillary Clinton, and in honor of unity, Arkansas pledges all votes for the next President of the Unit ed States, Barack Obama".

Seth, Hillary was beaten in the primaries. Stop with your attempts to divide. Your writing is so transparent.

The attempts by the media to divide Democrats have come to naught, but they keep up the facade anyway. They will find the one person in a million with a bone to pick, ignore the million and focus on the one.

Contrast this to the coverage of what is happening during the Republican convention. Ron Paul is having his own convention in MN during the RNC, and he's expected to get at least as many people listening to him as McCain will have. But not a peep from the media. Not a peep.

My Republican neighborhood is littered with Ron Paul signs; not a McCain sign in sight.

Boadicea, you speak true. The multi-millionaire owners of all of the major MSM outlets have a huge vested interest in seeing the GOP retain power and continue their program of corporate welfare and media market consolidation. They are SCARED TO DEATH of what's going to happen to their monopolies with the Dems in charge. Between now and November, we will see every major news organization bending over backwards to sing the praises of the "maverick" while beating issues of race and liberalism like a rented mule. We can only hope and pray that the Obama campaign can counter this effectively enough that the majority of Americans don't fall for it.

If the Republican party would have nominated Ron Paul, they would have had my vote. The problem with Ron Paul, is that he tells the truth, and the American people cannot handle the truth.Maybe they can handle the truth, they are just to ignorant to recognize the truth.

This reminds me of hearing that the Democrats will raise your taxes. What they do not understand is that the most cruel tax is starting to happen right now. It's called "inflation". Why are we gong to experience high inflation, because the Bush administration, rather than raise taxes, decided to borrow and spend to the tune of 4.6 TRILLION dollars. This delayed tax will have to be paid later. We currently owe Russia 500 plus billion dollars, we are approaching one TRILLION from China, hell we even owe Mexico 63 plus billion dollars. Starting next year, just the interest on the national debt will be in excess of 406 BILLION dollars, that is just the interest. At this moment we are going in debt by 9 to 10 million dollars per second.Do not take my word for this, do your own math. This is just some of the reasons, after a life time of being a Republican, I will never vote Republican again.

That makes the two of us. The Republican party is a disgrace to conservatism.

Hi Jaschrod,

You are so right about inflation. And with the dollar worth half as much in Euros as it was three years ago, the financial markets have noticed the mess the US is in financially. The Republican Party is not a true conservative party. As for Ron Paul, I would support him if he wasn't a Constitutional Fundamentalist. The framers of the Constitution could not forsee some of the changes that would come to America and the world, I note women's rights and the abolition of slavery as just two. If you hold to any historical document as true for all time you are limiting human ingenuity and development. That doesn't make sense. That said, I think Ron Paul is one of the most honest (on the left Kucinich is similarly honest) politicians out there. He has principles.

And finally, we don't have to worry about Obama putting up our taxes unless we make 200K or more, for the average family rates will go down. Probably not enough to make up for the rise in gas prices, which has as much to do with the dollar being worth so much less as anything else.

Also, don't forget about Bob Barr, running as a Liberterian.
Polls that include him consistently show up siphoning off 5-8% of Mc'Cain's numbers.

That'll be a 'mistake' like the 'mistake' Faux made airing a commercial by the Fascists-for-McCain earlier in the week?

good to know sometimes these mistakes fall the right way

I heard the roll call on yesterday. I can not see how they could have possibly made a mistake. No matter, it should have happened that way. This really shows unity. They said they were following the wishes of Hillary Clinton by doing this. Words can not express how happy I am. OBAMA 08'

The Democratic Party no longer honors voters. This party has become Obama's party. Win at any cost is exactly what Obama did with all the caucus fraud and arrogant postering that his race was excuse enough to push voters around and Hillary around. Let's all celebrate O's race now instead of voters. I want a Voters Rights Act that enfranchises me. I want to have a VOTE. I will protest this new race party with my vote in November.

Feel insignificant?

As an Arkansan I was so proud to watch the delegates extend a unified vote to Senator Obama, but I have been let down because they even put this little anecdote out. The right thing happened yesterday, no matter what.

"little anecdote?" Like people's votes being misrecorded? We'll see how you feel if that happens in the general election and it goes the other way.

Pupbayer you are in over your head. Just let iut go. You wouldn't understand.

This one IS anecdotal only because the eight votes they intended to cast for Hillary were meant to be purely symbolic. In the general election, the votes are not symbolic, they serve an actual purpose. As the delegate in the article said herself, "it's no big deal". Get over it, Karl!!!!
