Arkansas Didn't Mean To Go Unanimous For Obama

According to Rebecca Gwatney from the Arkansas delegation, the last line of the state's roll call speech was cut off by the Secretary. Instead of casting all 47 votes for Barack Obama, they only meant to cast 37, with 8 votes for Hillary Clinton. (Two of the state's 47 delegates were absent.) When the chair announced all 47 votes for Obama, many delegates from other states rose to cheer the state for their unanimous statement, which now appears to have only been a clerical mistake.

"It's no big deal," one Arkansas delegate told the Huffington Post.

Yea, the mistake won't really matter because it was all part of the media show. When Hillary called for nomination by acclamation, she also requested that all the delegates' votes be counted and recorded. So even after Obama was officially nominated, all the votes were officially counted on the floor and any errors would have been corrected.

Actually, the vote was carried by acclamation, which is just a counting shortcut. It wasn't unanimous. All the votes are recorded, even those that were not announced.

As a Clinton supporter, I think I would have rather seen no roll call vote at all rather than a rigged vote where states won by Hillary cast votes 70/30 for Barack. Florida and Michigan were especially tough to see. It is what it is, and there was a lot of vote switching in the name of party unity, but the vote total - until it was cut off - made it look like Hillary was a minor candidate like Gravel or Kucinich. It didn't feel right.

This is a note to the Huffington Post, its contributors, and its bloggers.
Although this article takes some wind out of my sail as to a true sign of party unity, I have to ask myself what or why this is even important at this moment. It is over. What happened to party unity? Is all this really necessary.
I would challange all of Huffington Post, it's contributors and bloggers to stop all the negative and lets truly unite as one People. Isnt it about time we do this. Okay so we dont all agree on Obama vs Hillary, but that is what makes us human, but must we continue this tirade of tit for tat, back and forth.
It is over, lets move on. Lets us all agree to be positive and report the positive and stop picking this democratic party apart piece by piece. WE should be concentrating all our human efforts at this point in time againt the Republican Party, I mean we need to get all the meat and bones we can on them to make sure they are truly sent packing and hopefully not to return for at least a good 24 years. Well, I think it has to do with stigmatism that Arkansas, which isn't really Hillary's home state, but was Bill's homestate, going unanimous for Obama might be seen as a slam against Hillary. I for one, and to Hillary's credit, welcome the fact that people have pointed out this procedural error. Sure, in the grand scheme of things, it was a relatively minor mistake, but you can bet Fox News will be all over it and spinning it to trash the Dems. They'll say that Ark is Hillary's home state and that the Dems slammed Hillary with the "symbolic unanimous vote". And the viewers will believe it, dumb as they are.
