WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Reports of strong support within John McCain's presidential campaign for Independent Democratic Sen. Joseph Lieberman as the Republican candidate for vice president are not a fairy tale. Influential McCain backers, plus McCain himself, would pick the pro-choice liberal from Connecticut if they thought they could get away with it.

But they can't get away with it -- and this has been made clear to McCain by none other than Joe Lieberman himself.

Lieberman surely doesn't know that much about Republican politics, but he has close Republican friends. One of them prevailed on Lieberman to tell McCain that a McCain-Lieberman ticket would be a disaster for all concerned, and especially for the GOP.

McCain and:

A. Baby Brother, aka, Jeb
B. Condoleezza
C. Gingrich
D. Alan Keyes

I would think any of the above would favor Obama/Biden.......

Jeb is supposedly the smartest of the Bush clan. Don't think he would want to be a part of this. Of course, Cheney could always take McCain duck hunting, and Mac would be dumb enough to go/

The RNC will HATE HIM FOR IT, it might attract some independents but the hardline conservatives will dump mccain and this election will be landslide for Obama.

A Lieberman pick would also mobilize the Hillary-luvers who were flirting with the idea of casting a spite vote for McCain into giving it up for OBAMA.

Yeah, pick Lieberman!!!

Barry picked a windbag in hopes his vacuous suit would not deflate and now McCain wants to pick a liberal so his rise in the polls will deflate. Clinton brought pornography to the Oval Office, these two candidates will be bringing a tragic comedy to the Oval Office.

Luvienne, please, please shut up! Senator Clinton is out of the picture. Find someone else to hate. Perhaps someone from the failed Bush administration or your presidential candidate, John McCain?

Actually, as a Dem I rather see Romney as VP. That would guarantee a Dem victory.

Now Tom Ridge would pose a tough matchup and will defintely make PA a true tossup state. The conservative base will be upset due to Ridge being pro-choice, but his military/national security credentials will bring them on board to the McCain/Ridge ticket.

Is this the entire article? What a disappointment--just drop a bomb on people and get out. What did Lieberman say to McCain? What are the ideas that he "likely" shared with McCain? Hello?

Dark horse in any case that what's Meg Whitman position will be.
McCain is not a favorite by the Party,it will be harder to fill the VP position
that is Meg Whitman came to place, compromise to all involved .

I think that last line was supposed to read:

"...a McCain-Lieberman ticket would be a disaster for all concerned except the Democrats, who upon hearing about it would immediately fall down, pounding their fists on the ground in an uncontrollable fit of joyous, hysterical laughter."

It would lbe catnip to us for McCain to name Lieberman his VP choice. You would have to get to the polls at 6 in the morning just to keep from snaking around the block behind Democrats racing to vote for Obama.

Maybe it would get him out of his Senate seat. If anyone needs to be impeached for lying to the electorate, it's Lieberman.
