WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Reports of strong support within John McCain's presidential campaign for Independent Democratic Sen. Joseph Lieberman as the Republican candidate for vice president are not a fairy tale. Influential McCain backers, plus McCain himself, would pick the pro-choice liberal from Connecticut if they thought they could get away with it.

But they can't get away with it -- and this has been made clear to McCain by none other than Joe Lieberman himself.

Lieberman surely doesn't know that much about Republican politics, but he has close Republican friends. One of them prevailed on Lieberman to tell McCain that a McCain-Lieberman ticket would be a disaster for all concerned, and especially for the GOP.

$HIT NO!
I'm Obama to the core.

Anything that McCain can do to irratate conservatives is gold to me.
We have PUMAS holding out on us; there are just as many conservatives holding out on McCain. Lieberman will only exacerbate the situaiton.

Haha! I so hope he does it. That would destroy them completely.

They only other ticket which would mobilize Democrats more than a McCain-Lieberman '08 ticket would be a John McCain-Karl Rove ticket.

I think McCain/Cheney would work....or McCain/Rumsfeld

Rove is not a possibility. Cockroaches do their best work under cover. No worries tho, we may not see him but he is definately there and has been all along. It's the reason you always feel like you need a shower after watching McSidekick and his cronies.

My friends, after much consideration, after sitting in one of my seven bunkers with the TV off and the lights out, I have decided to ask Mrs Clinton to be my running mate. My friends...she is ready on day 1 and I could kick on day 3 or thereabouts. So she's qualified on that account. She's a person of faith. So check that box. She a little confused on the health care issue, but we'll talk her through our compassionate conservative approach and she'll come around. She knows the White House, so if I get confused about which wing I'm in, she can help me out. Just like me, she used to be a regular person and now she's rich, so she understands regular people and rich folks. She's a woman, so check that box. My friends, vote McHillary...and remember, if I'm confused, or if I'm just wrong...I was a POW for 5 years, so everything's gonna be okay.

Fine, except McC*n was never a "regular guy." He was the spoiled son of an admiral who was the spoiled son of an admiral. Failed military aristocrat, reduced by his own stupidity to graduating at the bottom of his class, wrecking billion-dollar jets for kicks, and selling beer. Till he met Mr. Keating....

I totally side with Keith Olbermann. Chris Matthews adds nothing to this democratic convention analysis except turn people like myself off. Tom Brokaw is arrogant but at least intelligent and tolerable enough. I turned off MSNBC the first evening because of two things: Chris Matthews and the lack of coverage of the speakers as opposed to the commentators chatting all the time. I'm not a fan of CNN particularly but they did a much better job, and of course I ended up with C-Span for much of the coverage.

i don't know what this is referring to but I entirely agree. I feel like KO is constantly disappointed when Matthews repeatedly bounces back meaningless bullshit/filler-talk/self-aggrandizing reminiscence of old-style politics to his (Keith's) dead-on analysis

If McCain really, really, wants to stand for REAL CHANGE and outdo the O-B ticket, win the women vote as well as the Hillary crowd his best chance, now that Cindy has come back from her part humanitarian part giving Putin and Medvedev the "what for" in Georgia is pick Cinderella McCain for VP.

She is much younger and is well off and they both could in time buy a condominium in Tbilsi and Tel Aviv at the end of their term at the WH. If some are offended by this comment, think of the adage of "behind every really succesful man is a woman", who preferably should be his wife.

Why not?

Works for me, but buying a condo is Tel Aviv may prove difficult as neither of them are Jewish,

McCain picking a vice president is like when you go to the fruit market to pick up some peaches toward the end of the peach season and all that's left is the bruised, the overripe and the half rotten.

BREAKING NEWS:

According to a source close to the McCain campaign, who talked on condition of anonymity, said that McCain has made his VP pick. He has decided to run with the McCain of 2000.

"John feels that making this pick will reassure the American people that he is committed to reaching across the aisle since the two candidates are diametrically opposed to each other."

Mr. Novak, you'd think a man of your experience would know what a lot of nonsense this cross-party drafting talkytalk is. Why, they were saying right up to the convention that Obama might pick Hegel, and I'd say that was a sight more likely than a McCain-Lieberman ticket.

Did the Republicans want to get rid of Hegel, as much as Dems want to get rid of HoJo?

Hello: Novak, along with Rove should be in federal prison for treason, not pontificating on a failing GOP campaign. Oh, what a world!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:13 PM on 08/27/2008

John McCain stands for nothing. He loves his (her) money and hates the truth. He dumped his disfigured wife for a monied bimbo. He was part of the Keating 5. He took a bite out of the Iseman apple, we can all agree on that. He dumped chemical weapons like agent orange and napalm on innocent children. Republicans call that "pro life" God is on our side? Never. American voter stupidity exceeds those of Nazi Germany.
