Debbie Phelps Plugs Chico's

Apparently, Michael Phelps' Midas touch extends to his mother Debbie. Once Chico's caught word she had stocked up on some of its clothes before jetting off to Beijing to watch the Olympic swimmer work his magic in the Water Cube, the retailer spread the word via e-mail. Chico's Web site even showcases "The Debbie Phelps Collection," an assortment of her travel pieces, including the ensemble she wore for a Johnson & Johnson commercial that debuted Sunday night during the closing ceremonies.

My sister's swim team hired Michael to speak at their banquet dinner at the end of their season (this was pre-Athens). Apparently he spoke for about 10 min., and then his Mom spoke for the other 50. The kids were annoyed because she took over the show, and they just wanted to hear about this seemingly average looking guy talk about being an olympian. BTW, Rebecca Soni was at that same banquet, but as a member of the team having the banquet.

See, I was kinda hoping that Clinton and Stacy from "What Not To Wear" could do a special show where they flush those earrings down the toilet. Sadly, earrings that big would probably back up even and industrial waste facility.

Oh, come on folks. As terrific a mom as she may be and no matter that they put these on younger more fit models, these clothes scream Doris Roberts, Ray's mom from "Everybody Loves Raymond."

Maybe so samguy but you aren't the women they are looking for. In case you haven't noticed bud not everyone is young and skinny with hanging boobs out of their cloths and butt cheeks showing from behind. Give us a break. She is a middle aged woman who looks nice. I may not like some of those outfits but that me. Some might. Stop making an issue of her age and weight. Maybe we need to see more people like her because she is like the average women not like these botox women of hollow wood.

Would the world have middle-aged and older women dress in frumpy pink and baby blue polyester from Walmart, which will make it easier for them to fade away and be ignored into invisibility?
This is what middle aged women look like. Some of us choose to wear sunny yellow pants suits, some choose bright jackets from Chicos, and some are sick of being ridiculed for whatever they wear, regardless of what they are doing and achieving in the world.
