New York Times:

Hillary Rodham Clinton's address at the Democratic convention attracted almost 26 million viewers Tuesday night, according to Nielsen Media Research.

That number is up significantly from the 22 million who watched night one of the convention on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, BET, and TV One, according to Nielsen.

Among the broadcast networks, NBC led with 5.98 million viewers, ABC followed with 4.76 million, and CBS had 3.82 million. A comparison with 2004 is difficult because the broadcast networks did not cover the second night of the Democratic convention that year.

Among the cable news networks, CNN again led the competition, averaging 4.80 million viewers from 10 to 11 p.m. Fox News delivered 3.48 million and MSNBC netted 2.57 million. All three cable news networks are up significantly compared with 2004.

Maybe Odormann and Tweety should get into a fist fight. That might increase ratings.

It might have helped if they were at the convention.

Instead of at a train station a mile away.

Who's brainy idea was THAT?

Tweety's hair gets odder every night. Watch out Donald Trump.

Pat Buchanan is a train wreck. The rants are a real turn off. If he were gone, bet the ratings for MSNBC would be better.

MSNBC rating would go up by millions if they get rid of Pat Bucanan and Joe Scarbrough, they both can rot in hell.

as much as I hate it, they have to have both sides. Buchanan really gives insight though on upcoming repug talking points.

I agree. And why not get someone like David Gergen, an old-style conservative who actually has intelligent comments and isn't filled with irrational hate (like Buchanan)?

I wonder how those ratings will fair when its the GOP convention. I can see the night Bush and CHeney speak getting 1 million tops.

I hope that the brass at MSNBC takes a look at how badly they are doing on covering the Convention. I firmly believe it is because most of their loyal audience can't stand listening to Pat Buchanan and a couple of their other talking heads who are there only for the purpose of bashing O'bama. I started watching MSNBC and got so pissed at Buchanan, I turned it off and didn't come back.

I would have been happy to see Rachel Maddow and Keith Olberman being the only two talking heads on MSNBC.

I completely agree. That viewership number for MSNBC was down by one viewer because i switched channels after I hear Pat Buchanan, David gregory.

MSNBC Just put Keith and Rachel please!!

Do you really not want to even hear the opposition? How will you stay informed if everything you listen to just feeds your own bias? MSNBC would be foolish to get rid of Buchanan. One sidedness is dull.

This was the Dem's time, their convention. The shrieking heads could have shown some respect for the voters and "Shut the Hell UP!" Plenty of time next week to cover the REEpub BS!

MSNBC would do far better if they'd get rid of Buchanan. Every time he opens his mouth, you can hear the the stampede of people running for the remote control to change the channel.

Yep, we race across the room , hands over ears, going "lalalalalalalala," every time Buchanon starts keening his near satanic litany of rightwing talking points and swiftboat tactics, to dive after the household "gawdhead" (remote control") and change the channel.......even Nancy Grace sounds soothing after a Pat Attack. We are so relieved the Dem convention is so successful and nearly finished so that we can tune out all cable news and their anti Obama campaigns until this election is over and we have finally done the deed and taken this country BACK!

What I'd love to know is how much $$$$ she raked in last night. I know of several people who watched her speech and then went right to her website and donated. I did and when I first tried to get on the website, I couldn't get through. I'm a diehard O supporter, but felt if she threw herself behind O at the convention, then I'd donate to retire her debt. And she was wonderful last night, thus the $$$$.
Now it's up to her hubby. If he does the job for O, then I'll donate tonight again.

It's interesting they don't give figures for C-Span. (I can't even watch the network or cable coverage it's so fake.) MSNBC is the biggest disappointment. The audio is UNBELIEVABLY BAD, not to mention the offensive and pointless commentary from Pat Buchanan, Joe Scarborough.

If it wasn't for PBS and C-Span, TV would be UNWATCHABLE.

Don't need numbers for public TV, as advertisers aren't concerned. C-Span all the way!
