In what may have been a moment of an unknown open microphone during Wednesday night's DNC coverage on MSNBC, anchor Keith Olbermann vocally asked to wrap NBC News and MSNBC contributor Mike Murphy. Reports surfaced earlier that Olbermann had Murphy banned from the primetime coverage Monday (explained as technical difficulties), and Murphy was also missing Tuesday night. A Republican political consultant who joined the network's payroll in July, Murphy is in Denver for the convention coverage.

On Monday night Olbermann was heard, while off camera, telling guest Joe Scarborough to "get a shovel."

As Murphy sat with with Harold Ford, Jr and talked with Chris Matthews about Hillary Clinton liking John McCain, Olbermann, off camera, can be heard loudly saying, "Let's wrap him up, all right?"

Watch or scroll for trascript:

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Let me ask you Mike: are we to, to place the credibility of you as a pundit on your belief, that you've just asserted, that the Clintons will vote for John McCain?

MURPHY: Absolutely. I really believe Hillary Clinton will vote for McCain. Look, they're friends. [Crowd boos]. Ah, come on, don't shout me down: let me talk. I mean come on, this is, you guys are so in the tank we ought to be filming this on a submarine. The fact is, Barack Obama, to his credit, has moved closer to Hillary Clinton and John McCain on foreign policy, Hillary and John McCain have worked --

MATTHEWS: That's an argument -- that's not what I'm asking you.

MURPHY: I really believe --

MATTHEWS: Mike, let me get back to --

KEITH OLBERMANN (OFF CAMERA): Let's wrap him up, alright?

And you guys on these blogs about MSNBC and Olbermann think he is great??? You are so misguided. I really think the voting age should be raised to 25 or higher. It is really scary that you can vote for the unknown Obama and that you are drinking his koolaid and his follower KO. He needs to go back to sports, in my opinion, he has worn out his welcome on cable TV. He wasn't that good on ESPN.

I watched this live, and let me tell you, I would have said much worse about Mike Murphy's ridiculous comments.

Mike Murphy is a real life troll. His comments about the Clintons supporting Obama but voting for McCain was the equivalent of posting "LIBRULS SUX!" on Huffington Post. It was meant to incite, and I'm confident he doesn't believe a word of what he's saying.

Fox News, in terms of viewers and ratings, has been kicking MSNBCs a$$ for some time now.

Olbermann has no solution for that other than to be more unfair and obnoxious than he already was before.

According to all the Bubbas who sit in their parents' basement screaming at the radio as they listen to Rush and Hannity, and watch Fox New all night. Republicans are all either wealthy or stupid, and as can be proven statistically, most Fox viewers are not rich.

First of all I really enjoy countdown. But after watching the convention in Denver on MSNBC and listening to all the pundits spin spin spin, I got disgusted. I got smart and on Thursday night the fianl night I watched the proceedings on CSPAN> It was great. No pundits and their at times ridiculous opinions.

Surrogates for both political parties tend to clutter and waste valuable air time, adding little substance to public dialogue. Mike's comments about the Bill and Hillary voting for McCain was silly beyond belief.

Journalists should be primarily concerned with the truth, rather than providing valuable time to simply balancing opposing propaganda.

Does KO run MSNBC? I thought he works for MSNBC! MSNBC hired Mike Murohy as a conservative spokesperson. He said what he thought which you and others can accept or reject. But when Keith imposes himself between Chris Matthews and Mike MUrphy and commands that the producer censor Murphy's speech rights, KO is trying to ko Matthews. KO must belive that Chris is incapable of running the store.

If I were Chris Matthews I'd find out from MSNBC if he has been demoted to second string.

If I were MSNBC, I'd have a talk with Olbermann and remind him that he has not yet assumed the title of king.
him that he has not yet assumed the title of King.

Olberman was at fault, how again? I didn't hear him doing anything other than to put the brakes to some nonsense between Mike Murphy and Matthews.

Frankly, I was shocked and horrified by what Murphy said. Was he drunk? There is no way that a good Democrat, which the Clinton's are, would even think of voting for McCain.

Olbermannn is always at fault! He has to be the scapegoat for those who have no common sense and see things just one way.

And excuse me, KO is the only one ever to cut someone off?

You are the best Keith. Please keep it up!

Olbermann's ego is so fragile he can't stand to be in a room with anyone he disagrees with unless he gets to shout them down or ridicule them. MSNBC has taken the God Awful news stylings of Fox News and made them worse. I really never thought we would see a news organization that was a bigger joke than Fox, but apparently we liberals have constructed one in MSNBC. They are an embarrassment and Olbermann sits proudly on their throne ruling the other idiots. Anyone who sinks to their level and actually agrees to appear on their network deserves what they get. The best thing that could happen to our country would be for both of them to shutter their doors.

Ridiculous! Probably the best thing about Countdown is that Olbermann does not shout down or cut off responses from guests. If I wanted to watch screaming matches where no one gets to say anything, then I'd watch Fox Noise. Or Hard Ball, for that matter. I don't have the time or patience.

The only people that can't Stand Keith are the ones that know he doesn't just sit and let those idiots get away with lying. I love Keith Obermann.

Fragile ego? I think not. He is just smarter than most people and isn't afraid to let people know it.
Great idea...get MSNBC and FOX (well, it's ok to get Fixed News off the air) off the air and let's stick with Wolfe Blitzer at CNN. Snooze anyone?

The thing to remember about Mike is that he was a paid consultant on Romney's campaign and constantly in touch with his former employers. He isn't going to bite the hand that feeds him or will potentially reward him in the future with more gigs. His sustainability depends on him barking the Republican talking points for each candidate. David Gergen is so much better. He has worked for conservatives but he is thoughtful in his analysis. Pat and Mike are often times ridiculous.

Give the pundit a cracker ... that should shut his pie hole! These so-called informed commentators are worthless! I for one have little time for their attempts to shape the atmosphere ... we have our own brains to give us the answers!
