A computer virus is alive and well on the International Space Station (ISS).

Nasa has confirmed that laptops carried to the ISS in July were infected with a virus known as Gammima.AG.

The worm was first detected on earth in August 2007 and lurks on infected machines waiting to steal login names for popular online games.

W32.Gammima.AG.

Looks like someone's been playing games to pass the time!

It's not a system threat it merely steals information concerning certain games and sends it to a server!

This is what happens when you don't use a good anti virus and firewall, have we learned a lesson yet?

You would think that the network on the International Space Station would be FU*KING secure!

It is... there is no high speed internet up there.

So you couldn't play any online games, even if you wanted to.

:-)

That's what happens when you download the program to cover your internet porno visits. A guy gets lonely in up here in space.

Why in the world would NASA allow laptops to be taken into space in the first place, that do not have antivirus software installed??? LOL. That's like sending up the shuttle with no heat tiles on it, then saying "geez, how do we get it back down?", lol, duh!! I tell ya, NASA scientists might be smart, but they aren't very bright.

They have tried nine ways to Sunday to de-orbit the ISS for economic and political reasons, and this is their latest ploy to remove funding from the project.

At least they're not doing outright sabotage like on MIR.

And all along I presumed NASA was using MacBooks on the ISS. Silly me.

I wouldn't even go there, lest Apple get their name tarnished even further. ;) Hell, nothing is safe from exploitation. I use Firefox web browser, for example, that everyone tells me is the best and most secure. Yet, every day, I see at least one instance in which a website has purposely done something to defeat or exploit Firefox. Thankfully tho, at least I run an antivirus with link scanners, which blocks the page ever loading if it detects an exploit.

Well name a virus that has attacked an Apple OS X? There ain't none. Before OS X I ran Apple 7.1 all the way to 9.1 then switched to OS X. Never had a virus. If you like the reliability of a toaster--Apple is what you get. If you are a sadomasochist--go with MicroSoft Vista.
