Obama's Columns At Invesco Stir GOP

The McCain campaign is ecstatic over this report from Reuters: "Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek temple."

By noon, three emails mocking Obama over the columns had been blasted out by the Republican National Committee, with more sure to come.

The Obama campaign is mostly silent on the issue, eager not to spoil any surprises for Thursday night. But one convention official said that the columns are meant to reference Washington DC, not ancient Greece, a fact that will become clear as the program unfolds in the lead up to Obama's speech.

In the meantime, ThinkProgress has posted photos from the 2008 Virginia Republican Convention, which also used columns as a backdrop.

And HuffPost blogger Bob Cesca has an impressive collection of photos of John McCain posing in front of columns.

I realize everyone here is laughing at this - but it's a legitimate problem. These plans were made before the overseas trip and before the celebrity fiasco. The grandeur of this event will feed into that big time. The campaign is right to be concerned - hopefully they can tamp it down a bit. Showing photos of McCain in front of columns, many of them actual locations, is a silly defense.

A very astute observation. The "fist" actually does convey the Gravity of McCain's"dark side". He is truely is a very demented and dangerous man. He will take this world into war and it will be solely for the aggrandizement of his CORPORATE HANDLERS ! Did John McCain have a stroke at one time? Notice the balled fist of his right hand. The same fist is balled in the "Out of Touch" ad by Obama. On other occasions, he has a pen in his hand as if to justify the closed hand. This may be why reporters were given a minimal amount of time to look at his medical records; the truth would have been found out. By the way, I am a nurse.

The official response to your inquiry has to do with his limited muscular ability in his arms & hands stemming from damage he sustained when his North Vietnamese captors broke his arms. Maybe yes, maybe no, or perhaps he did have a stroke. It really doesn't matter. A stroke should not automatically disqualify one from being President, any more than being a former POW should qualify one. John McCain is simply put, unfit to command, stroke or no stroke.
