Time:

After leaving the house party, Senator Obama called and talked for several minutes with Senator Hillary Clinton saying how grateful he was for her support, that she gave a terrific speech and that all those he watched with in Billings, MT were moved by her video and introduction from Chelsea. Also said he loved her line "No way, no how, no McCain."

Senator Obama also called and spoke with President Bill Clinton for several minutes saying Senator Clinton could not have been better and made the case for change. Obama said he knew how proud he must have been watching as he was last night watching Michelle speak and how grateful he was for their support.

I watched the speech Hillary gave last night and I have tried listening to it with an open mind and each time I listened, I was still not moved. I will give her credit that it was an ok speech, at best. She could have done MUCH MORE! She owed it to Sen Obama and the Democratic party to do MUCH MORE! She started this........ her husband finished it...........

I say that because she and her husband unfairly, unjustly attacked a member of her OWN party knowing that it would be USED to damage Sen. Obama. You can't blame Sen. McCain for using sound bites that she willingly gave them. She knew the consequences of her actions yet and still..... stomping her feet on the ground and pouting to get her way, she did it anyway. If I can't have it then neither can he.

Selfish...... The Clintons maybe counting on 2012 but you better believe this Obama supporter WILL REMEMBER!!!! Now Puma you can put that in your pipe and smoke on that...........

How very small of you! There haven't been many people who have said that Hillary's speech was anything but great; apparently even Obama thought it filled the bill. What Obama needs is supporters who can think for themselves and not jump to negativity when anyone who is not him has something to say.
12:36 PM on 08/27/2008
Let me start off by saying that i have not and had not liked the (C)lintons in the last couple of years because of their tactics and the way they carried themselves.... However, I will say that last night went a LONG way in making things right, not only among 0bama supporters but more importantly among her supporters and bringing them into the new Democratic party.

Anyone that was open to being swayed will be swayed to vote for 0bama, those that are not reachable are going to remain the same. There is nothing that can be done about them. She gave a amazing speech and I simply can not think of anything that would of needed to be changed.

I hope Bill Clinton will be as gracious and simply pass the torch. I apologized for him straight through his presidency. And after the primary, I held him in a completely different regard for many reasons (some warrented, some not so much)... he will do a lot for his legacy if he helps BO win this November. The Democratic Party will be grateful, and perhaps feel they owe his a debt of the same.
12:16 PM on 08/27/2008
I'm really sick of hearing about this torch. There is nothing to pass. No one is dead. Clinton will always be a former president. No one is walking off into the sunset. Not only that, but Obama is completely unproven. How do you pass anything to someone when they haven't earned it.
02:09 PM on 08/27/2008
First, he earned it by beating Hillary in the primaries. Second, what do you consider proof? Third, what have you done for your community or country that qualifies you to be the judge of someone elses achievements?
07:25 PM on 08/27/2008
Oh, there's a torch to pass. For the last 12 years the Democrats have been the party of the Clintons. Now the Clinton's are just a part of the Democratic party. For the moment, and hopefully for quite awhile, it's Obama's party. You don't have to die to say "we're moving forward with you, and we're behind you"
12:26 PM on 08/27/2008
If Bill passes the torch it will be one of the greatest moments in US History and will cement the Clinton legacy forever.

A picture of Bill , Hillary , Chelsey, Michelle,Barack,Sasha, and Malia will be priceless.

Sometime at this Convention the Clintons and the Obamas need to appear together ON STAGE. No speeches necessary just the meeting of GREAT PEOPLE. And LET the crowd LOVE IT. A GREAT PRESIDENT PASSING THE TORCH TO THE NEXT GREAT PRESIDENT.
11:57 AM on 08/27/2008
I agree...................Thursday night would be the time...leaving a lasting image in everyones mind....but, kink in the armor..is Bill Clinton..he refuses to attend thursday night.............what a disservice to us all Bill has become.........sad
12:04 PM on 08/27/2008
I heard that as well, said he felt his appearance would 'suck the wind out of the Convention'...I think he feels no one likes anymore....And nothing to be further from the truth. Also he may still have bad feelings about being called a 'racist'....can't blame him there.

Sen Obama has ALWAYS been very respectful of Hillary and Bill, even when they deserved less. That is Sen Obamas nature.

Level headed, looks ahead, respects advice ( 2+ heads are better than one) , deepley cares about ALL of us, foresees a proporous future and will incoorporate knowledgeable respectable men and women to help him achieve equal prosperity for all. And, if you think he will ever let harm come to his girls..think again..he will protect this country with every fiber of his being!!!!
12:07 PM on 08/27/2008
DON'T GO THERE....is you want party unity. Cause I CAN SHOVEL RIGHT BACK.
12:56 PM on 08/27/2008
This is the problem right there. The divisiveness that HRC has always been accused of. I, as well, was one of the one's who have defended without faltering. Now or the first time I have had to ask myself, is this what those people were talking about?

This PUMA and all the racial, and dirty methods of attack against her own party and its' future for personal self-aggrandizement is a bad precedent. Especially for future women candidates. People will think I don't want to get another Hillary going on in the party by voting for her.

I won't vote for Hillary in 2012! No matter what... they scuttled Obama! If he loses it can be dropped at their door step period. The racism, the traitorous tip your hat to McCain, the undermining. I think I speak for a great number of black people we will sit out the next election if he loses. Let the Democrats run their country like the Repugnants!!!

They are just refusing to endorse Barack as QUALIFIED!!! Abraham Lincoln arguably had less experience than even Barack. Abe had two years as a state senator from Illinois period! A private law practice with no executive experience. Would anyone argue that his WISDOM was what saved thin Nation?

Barack ran an excellent campaign, under budget and smart. He managed a team that ran like clockwork! This is how he would govern, SMART!!! Hillary lost because she wasn't a good leader or manager. She had the wrong message with the wrong people at the wrong time.

Barack's wisdom and prescience about all of the great issues that face this nation is remarkable. Iraq, Afghanistan, Energy, the Economy.... every issue and how his very prescence will rebrand this nation and show us a remarkable peole who the world not fear. The terrorists will win if John McCain wins they will see the imperialist and militarism of America and see us as just as much a threat to world peace and properity as they are.

Yes, but on the bright side, I was surprised Hillary didn't talk much about herself, what SHE wanted for America, what SHE stood for, what SHE'S done.

Nor did she take credit for the Clinton years or go into great detail about that.

I think the lack of specific praise for Obama was not a bad call because it gave her speech a sincerity it would have probably lacked if she'd come out blatantly contradicting all the things she said in the election.

"People who supported me because of my stand on the important issues of our time, should now support Obama. There is no other choice for the good of our children and our country."

Her speech was sincere, powerfully delivered, and convincing. I didn't expect her to see the Obama campaign the way I do. (After all, she ran against him and LOST). She did good. Real good.

I'm kind of pissed I was forced to watch the first night on CNN & MSNBC. The idiotic talking heads were driving me crazy. There was so much going on I wanted to see.
Now, it's C-Span all the time.

Obama has class, something the Republicans are sorely lacking. I do have hope the Hillary and Bill will take up the cause she started with, and work their butts off to elect Obama and Biden!

I hope like HE!! that you work your butt off to change that. There is too much at stake to allow people who have done no homework on the candidates and simply inform themselves by political ads to decide who will be our next POTUS.

If McCain is elected we will slip further towards the economy of a third world country as our middle class dwindles even further.
