Thanks for the schedule Huffpo. The only way to truly watch the convention is on CSPAN. No talking heads - no spin - no commercial interruptions.

in talking with charlie rose, amadinajahd (sp?) talked about iran happy to go on its own path without US approval... this opinion prob needs to change... the world is too small of a place, nations on some issues must walk a common path... nuclear materials being one of them...

the snag though is isreal with its nuclear arsenal... obama/biden will not get far in their diplomacy unless these nukes are finally on the table for everyone to see...

biden's piece, however, doesn't mention isreal's responsibilities at all...

No, it's the VP choice that shows that Sen. Obama is a REAL leader who is secure. He specifically said he didn't want a "yes" man by his side. It shows that he is not afraid of those that may have more experience than he does. They only announced that he is the VP candidate on Saturday. Once people get to know that Barack and Joe Biden are truly for working Americans, the polls will go up!

At least, the Clintons are helping Joe write his speech to try to come close to hers.

Good for them.

Man... this is the most boring thing ever. Can't they schedule in some jello wrestling?

I predict that Bill Clinton's speech will make Biden's seem profoundly anticlimactic. Say what you want about his behavior during the primaries (or in office, for that matter), but the man has an awful lot of charisma.

Clinton's also got a lot of immaturity and arrogance; it dwarfs some of his charisma and the respect factor for him has dwindled.

It is unwise for the front runners to be too confrontational. You do want to appeal to ALL Americans, not just your own party. The most vicious attacks are therefore left to the surrogates. That gives the front runners "deniability". Example: Hillary never said Democratic Governor Richardson was a Judas, it was only her surrogate Carville. So she is now able to say "I never said that".

For everybody so excited or stressing about the polls, just one thought. They don't call cellphone numbers (>2% of numbers call are cellphones mostly called by accident) and many in this new tech world don't have landlines or at least don't answer them. Also, school's back in session, summer is mostly over and many people who might have been at home are now back at work.

Are the dems. purposely throwing the election? why are they going so soft on big Mac. I am a staunch Obama supporter, i despised the way Hilary ran a repulsive campaign against her own fellow democrat, but i can't help but miss the Clinton attach machine. Why is Obama going so soft on McCain? Mac is making a mockery out of the dems, this is beginning to make me wonder, are the dems throwing this election for big Hillary to run in 2012? Who is advising Obama, can they pay attention to History, they don't even have to look to far, just look at Gore or Kerry. They better step up their attacks or big Mac will moon walk right on the white house lawn with his funny looking wife. I am getting real weary now, if any Obama surrogates are out there, tell that man he better start putting the heat on John or else Come election time, Obama will loose in a landslide victory. Anyone with eyes and common sense can see that Obama is going too soft on Mac, while Mac is making Obama look like a child. sad! I can't afford another 8 years of Bush part 2, someone please tell that idiot Barack to hit McCain hard where it hurts.

He sounds like someone who is disappointed by the refusal to challenge Republicans at election time by Democrats.
His Gore and Kerry points are very relevant when looking at how Obama is soft in his criticism of Bush and McCain.

So for you Yola, I could easily say......

Wow! So this what a staunch Democratic party supporter sounds like. No room for dissent or advice for candidates, or you will be attacked by the cool aid brigade.

Lighten up Yola and allow for the fact that many good Democrats want more from Obama on a host of issues. He needs to listen, and establishment Democrats need to stop attacking progressives for trying to keep our party on the left of center as it drifts insanely to the right.

Want to know what helps?

Turn off the TV and don't worry about it again until November when you go to vote.

The MSM needs to create conflict and doubt because that's what keeps people tuned in. All of this is hype. The facts are, this country is desperate to be rid of the republicans. In order for Obama to lose, he'd have to be caught smoking crack while having sex with a child. Anything short of that and he's going to steamroll over McCane in the fall.

I live in a very very red state and there are a large number of republicans who I know personally that are jumping ship and voting for Obama. My state only has 2 electoral votes, yet Obama's ground machine is buzzing around here.

This hype about how close it's going to be is nonsense. I've been voting for 20 years, and I've never seen anything like this.

Don't worry, just shut off your tv and read a good book. We'll see you in November.

The fact of the matter is- Obama is getting much tougher on mccain, the thing is most of the commercials he is playing are not being played every where so to us it looks like he is not responding, when in fact he is, what he really needs to do and I am pretty sure he will- is show those commercials in almost every media market if possible- so that every one knows that he is fighting back , because honestly if the huffington post did not find some of these commercials i would not even know they were out there- and i've seen some the are pretty good, but now that he has a running mate he does not have to do it alone and i think they are all starting to become sharper in their attacks of mccain, but you can talk all you want- if they don't play it on TV then you won't know- I've actually watched a town hall meeting of Obama's and then watched them talk about it and totally distort some of the things he said- and i had just watched it not an hour before- so you have the to contend with to

Rasmussen Aug 27 tracking poll:
Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows Barack Obama and John McCain each attracting 44% of the vote for the second straight day. When "leaners" are included, though, McCain picked up another point since yesterday and now has a statistically insignificant one-point advantage over Obama, 47% to 46% (sign up for daily e-mail update).

This is the first time since August 9 that McCain has held any advantage over Obama. The candidates have been within two points of each other on every day but two for the past month (see recent daily results). Tracking Polls are released at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time each day.

McCain is viewed favorably by 56% of the nation’s voters, Obama by 53% (see trends).

Gallup Aug 27 tracking poll: McCain 46% Obama 44%
Conservative Democrats Peeling Away From Obama August 27, 2008
Barack Obama’s recent decline in the polls to the point of an exact tie with John McCain last week can be explained largely by some defection from conservative Democrats.

By conservative Democrats you mean closet Republicans. There is nothing conservative about McCain, so I still don't understand the trend.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:18 AM on 08/27/2008

Come on PAposter. McCain doesn't want to help out single family home owners, doesn't want to tax the rich, doesn't want ANY kind of gun control, wants to stay in Iraq, wants to bomb Iran into submission, wants to drill on the continental shelp as though that would bring down prices immediately, has no plan for education, wants fairly insignificant changes to the health care system and has very little plans for job creation. Old school, Republican thinking, No hope, No McCain. He is as conservative as it gets. The "Maverick" thing died in 2000. Since then, he has voted along with Bush's demands 95% of the time. CONSERVATIVE - YES, MAVERICK - NO!

I agree with you on that the national polls don't matter, especially this early on.

But should also point out that electoral vote shouldn't be giving OH for McCain just yet. So it's closer to 273 to 232.

Also, all polls are based on expected turn out and most of these polls are very conservative in their templates. They totally disregard the most powerful voter registration drive in history.

Rasmussen polled me via automated telephone call and honest to God one of the choices they had to pick from for president (if you had indicated you were a Democrat) was Oprah Winfrey. The whole thing was a joke and it was incredibly tempting to play it as a joke instead of straight after that. (And Rasmusen supposedly is one of the "better" polsters lol, tells you something about these instapolls)

Bill C, Hill C and Joe Biden will show them how to get into the gutter and fight!
