Cindy McCain's Half-Sister: I'm Voting For Obama

Cindy McCain's half-sister tells Us Magazine that she won't help put her famous sibling in the White House:

"I'm not voting for McCain," Kathleen Hensley Portalski tells Us. "I have a different political standpoint.

"I'm voting for Obama," the Phoenix resident says. "I think his proposals to improve the country are more positive and I'm not a big war believer."

Portalski's son Nathan, an aerospace machinist, is also backing Obama.

"I wouldn't vote for John McCain if he was a Democrat," he tells Us. "I would not vote at all before I'd vote for him.

"I question whether Cindy is someone I'd want to see in the White House as first lady," he adds.

Portalski went public with her connection to the McCains after hearing Cindy say on the trail that she was an only child.

"I'm upset," she told NPR. "I'm angry. It makes me feel like a nonperson, kind of."

"It's terribly painful," Portalski added. "It is as if she is the 'real' daughter. I am also a real daughter."

The Washington Post subsequently reported that Cindy has another half-sister who seems to have slipped her mind:

Before her marriage to Hensley, Johnson had a daughter, Dixie Burd, by a previous relationship. Burd, who is much older than Cindy, could not be reached for comment.

Is it my imagination, or is she coloring her hair lighter and lightening up her make up recently? (my guess would be this is an attempt to make Johnny look less sick and pale?).

Can you just imagine what the press would do if it were Michelle Obama who "forgot" that she had a sister? Hmmmmm. I guess it is yet another inconvenient truth when your sister won't vote for your hubby and your nephew says he doesn't think you belong in the White House. What does he know about Cindy and John that we should know?

I don't know the family story, but Cindy's comment isn't THAT bad to me. I have a half-sister who I didn't find out about until about 10 years ago and was never raised with. If you asked me how many siblings I had, I'd instinctively count just my full sister.

Well;, considering that when her father died, she immediately cut off the credit cards of the two half sisters that had been given to them by the dad, I guess she had to have know about them, so the argument/excuse does not hold. I tell people I have three siblings by my mom and dad and a half sister who is a lot older when asked. She did not claim them by choice. She is obviously a self centerd person and must have been pretty selfish to have cut the cards before the funeral, even.

Absolutely. Cindy McCain could have easily set up a trust fund for her half siblings who were left out of their father's will. She would not have missed the money. I am not saying that she had to invite them over for Thanksgiving dinner. What a coldhearted selfish woman. Her father's daughter.

John McCain was married when she started dating him. She is pathetic on so many levels.

I agree with other posters here who stated that if this back story belonged to the Obamas it would be all over.
