They skipped over his 20's. Wonder why.

I think that was when he got remarried just a month after dumping his crippled ex-wife....

wait, wait, sorry... I think I am confusing Obama with someone else.

(I guess everyone in this race has had a less than perfect life)

HIs voice was just great - intelligent, thoughtful, serious and resonant. It took me a while to figure out who it was, but when I did, it all made sense.

As we can see, the trolls really have their undies in a bunch after last night. The O-man called out the regime and laid out major specifics on where he will take the country. Game over.

Looks like this is one time that people are NOT AFRAID of CHANGE.

Obama - the ONE thing you MUST do when you get elected is Outlaw the Republican party - just like the MOB - they're all CROOKS.

Obama's speech was phenomenal. The fact that he has the unique ability to inspire people and make them feel hope is why he must be elected. When you hear him speak, you leave felling good. Too long have we been told to be afraid, and live in fear. The reason he has that gift is because he believes in what is good and just for this country. Last night showed that people have become discouraged and they are looking for someone to show them that America can be again what it once was, a beacon for all. Americans know that they way we have been going under the Bush administration are destroying the very framework that this country was built on. Hope is a very powerful emotion and it has the power to endure and effect change. That is the message of Barack Obama.
08:26 AM on 08/29/2008
I think we all need hope and inspiration right now, just as much as we need solutions to our problems. I look at Barack, Michelle and their beautiful daughters and think how great it will be to have the world see us through them. With Joe Biden on board to stabilize the ticket, there's reason to celebrate today! And that choice, dear friends, was an excellent judgment call by Barack Obama.

We need to track down that utter fool who made that "Is it wrong to pray for rain?" video and ask him what he thought of the perfect weather. What an incredible evening. What an incredible president Obama will be.

although obama gave a good speech ,not great, i was dismayed at the things he said regarding georgia. obama is drinking the kool aid about russian aggression, when it was georgia that started the conflict by shelling ethnic russians in south ossetia. thats akin to mexico shelling san diego, wheres the balance view in this . also not mentioned in his speech is exactly what is mccains wife and lobbyist doing in georgia ,even the dick cheney is there. what are they doing there? the gop has destroyed our military and we cannot poke the bear and would not win anyway in a conflict with russia.

Apart from the change theme of Obama, what would be intimidating to republican convention is the sheer volume of democratic convention. Surely, McCain would evolve his own strategy of change countering Obama's keeping the focus on change intact. As every politician is McCain is an opportunist. He felt it is necessary to support Bush on many issues to be able to become presidential candidate after Bush. He kept his hope to become president alive after he lost the nomination in 2000. McCain has the capacity to change, and if he were elected as president, he would distance himself from Bush policies and emerge as original McCain. To be able to compete in the ensuing general election, he will try his best to convey that promise while maximizing his effort to enlist and retain the support from those conservative republicans who solidly support Bush. McCain's position is much tougher than Obama's.

In essence, what you're telling me is McCain's ambition for power is so great he will say anything, do anything, be anything to get elected. He'll lie to those he thinks he needs to, to get elected. So, he's a very duplicitous man and cannot be trusted. And to whom is he lying? Is he lying to those who supported the "original" John McCain, the 2000 John McCain or is he lying to those who support the new conservative John McCain, the 2008 John McCain? He has become two different people, you know. That John McCain of 2000 has made a 180 degree turn on almost all issues to get the GOP nomination in 2008. Are you a gambler? Do you feel lucky? What John McCain will you get in November?

Obama has refined some of his positions, granted. He has moved closer to the "center" I suppose in part, in an effort to win over those so called "centrist" independents. He has disappointed some of his more progressive supporters with his shift. But his core principals and purposes have not been altered to the degree that McCain has distorted his. When it comes to integrity and temperament, I'll stick with Obama. McCain is too dishonest and unstable for me.
08:32 AM on 08/29/2008
Well said, Grayworlf. Perhaps moving closer to the center is really actually accepting that he will never please everyone. I was with Obama in the first place, and his speech clearly pointed out that I have made the right choice. I will actually get active in this election in order to do my part to get him elected.

I am one of those people, my family is one of those families, whose lives have been greatly and negatively impacted by Bush policies. I do not believe this country can afford four more years of these policies and I firmly believe that's what McCain would give us. As for changing his mind, he is a friend of Bush, and we've seen what happened when Bush told us he'd changed his mind about something. He was shaking our collective hands with one hand and knifing us in the back with the other.

The video gave me the feeling I had when I read Dreams From my Father. This is truly a man who usually becomes a great poet, musician, preacher, or philosopher. He sees his life as a journey, he envisions a better world, and he can see the practical side of how to get there when we all work together. He sees the interconnectedness of all our lives.

MLK once said, "I can't be the best that I can be unless you are the best that you can be."

Barack Obama has the owner's manual for Martin's dream.

This is the journey I want America to take, now, in my lifetime, while we have this chance to go for it.

80+ thousand people and there were times during the speech that there wasn't even a whisper... inspiring and powerful.

At one point, the phone rang and I went to grab it but my son said, "don't mom... this is really important" ... he's 15 and he didn't move while Obama was speaking. (I was a Hillary supporter for the duration of the contest but my son has always been an Obama supporter)

When a speaker can make a 15 year old boy sit at rapt attention for a half an hour with nothing but words, that shows me he's completely on the right track and it's a track we haven't really been down before. After last night, I'm feeling such hope and even excitement for the finish line.

Am one of those old hardworing white fems, lived long time been around a few blocks , been knocked down, gotten back up and traveld more blocks ...based in common snese for the most part and always had questions and wondered more than a few WHYS, along with soe why nots and pondered about alot of various issues that seemd they should be so easy to resolve but never quite seem to get so done and often due to very stupid reasonings that were rather NOT reasonable...Gotta' say, Obama is inspiring, nad renews hopes in many of us who HAVE grown quite cynical but something truly pleasurable found in his nomination, am thrilled to be alive to see we REALLY, REALLY have actually come a long way...The bi-racial offspring of the mother from Kansas and father from Kenya has proven that with effort and lots of hard work with effort, we CAN progress and move closer to what we've "claimed" are our principles. For the first time in a very, vary LONG life, I am so very, VERY, VERY, VERY proud of my country and am more hopeful than before and figure perhaps there IS a good chance we WILL survive WITH our principles intact as FACT !!!

I got up at 4am Copenhagen time to watch, and was inspired by the faces in the crowd, and moved to tears for the hopes of my countrymen.

I was up at 4:30am, I missed about 5 minutes (but caught the replay) here in Germany. I just wanted to watch this video again...and have a few more tears. I'm so homesick. All I want to do is come home to America. I'm so proud to be an American. I hope to be home by the end of the year. If not, I might even leave my british husband behind and get a job first. Then get him there so we can continue to live our American dream.

Can you even imagine McCain giving such a speech? Never in a 100 years. No Way, No How, No McCain!
05:46 AM on 08/29/2008
As they say, in sports terms, he hit it right out of the park ! The ball soars at Mile High.
He also said - to McCain - you cannot "Stay the Course".
Last, by this presentation, and his whole campaign, he said "I know how to get things done! "
