Rove And Lieberman

Politico reports that Karl Rove tried to pressure Joe Lieberman into withdrawing his name from consideration as John McCain's running mate:

Republican strategist Karl Rove called Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.) late last week and urged him to contact Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) to withdraw his name from vice presidential consideration, according to three sources familiar with the conversation.

Lieberman dismissed the request, these sources agreed.

Lieberman "laughed at the suggestion and certainly did not call [McCain] on it," said one source familiar with the details.

"Rove called Lieberman," recounted a second source. "Lieberman told him he would not make that call."

The New York Times reports that McCain has decided who his running mate will be and will announce the decision on Friday.

Unless McCain has plans to pull a NEW rabbit out of his hat, the names of his VP choice which the MSM has been floating around are FAR from being impressive.

There is NO excitement about the Republican VP pick, and there probably won't be any on Friday, IF that's the actual day McCain will announce his running mate.

McCain will probably try to upstage Obama on Thursday around the same time he is about to give his acceptance speech ........................ How else will McCain make his VP announcement a REAL event?

If McCain does indeed reveal his VP candidate the same day as Obama speaks then it will backfire because all the press will have their cameras on Obama and it will definitely diminish the impact of that ploy by McCain.

Was it Woody Allen or Groucho Marx that said they wouldn't join any club that would have them for a member?

Doesn't Holy Joe get the message? He's in the company of low-lifes?

Does anyone get the feeling that Rove knows there may be some trouble if McCain loses? The secrets of the last 8 years will be exposed and that includes likely criminal charges for Rove himself. Look out folks, these people are going to get desperate. Who listens to Rove anyway? oh yeah, McCain....now thats good judgement..???

HMM, I now hear in and underhanded move that MAC may leak out his veep THURS! thus in vain attempt to blunt O's big speech. I also sense it may be PAWLENTY OR RIGE, WITH surprise pick like TX sen KAY BAILEY HTUCHISON . I think the LIBERMAN idea was a bit of bluster for publicity. ALL the gop has is the base and going neg and personal with fear against O. MAY we all unite now and fight back and go neg on MAC and the old party! HOPE AND CHANGE ARE ON THE WAY!

If McCain announces on Thursday, the joke will be on him, because given the choice between Obama and McCain's VP, only Bush's 29 percenters will opt for the latter.

Yet Rove and Lieberman would be so happy together. Denial?

This shows Rove is off his game. Lieberman looks at Rove as hired help. Power wanna be. The pols see people like Rove as necessary evils to be used and discarded. Kind of like the relationship between the mob bosses and the guys they pay to do their dirty work. Remember how unwelcome Luca Brassi was at the wedding in The Godfather.

Karl Rove has no influence in the Lieberman For Connecticut Party. It's a real kick to see that he thought he did.

McC's made his pick... I had a flash in my mind of the Simpson's episode where Mr. Burns is looking to put together a team of ringers for the softball league. He unveils his choices to Smithers - Honus Wagner! Ty Cobb at short... Smithers "Um, Mr. Burns, all those men are dead"...

For some reason, I envisioned McC's VP selection process as being the same, with Sen Graham playing Smithers...

But... But... They said Liebermann was their best friend. LOLz. Liebermann got just what he deserved. Sleep with dogs, wake up with fleas!
