On MSNBC this evening Andrea Mitchell reported on how minimal John McCain's interactions with his choice for vice president, Sarah Palin, have been. According to Mitchell, McCain only met Palin once.

Watch the clip:

Politico has more on the short history of their encounters:

John McCain on Friday announced a running mate whom he met only six months ago and with whom he spoke just once on the phone about the position before offering it in person earlier this week.

McCain's first encounter with Sarah Palin came at a Washington meeting of the National Governors Association in February, according to a campaign-provided reconstruction of how the little-known Alaska governor was thrust into the national spotlight. The two discussed the position by phone on Sunday before McCain invited Palin and her husband to Arizona to formally make the offer. McCain, joined by his wife, Cindy, did just that Thursday morning at their home near Sedona, Ariz.

And as Think Progress is reporting, McCain Campaign spokesperson Nancy Pfotenhauer appeared on Fox News earlier today and was asked how well McCain knew Palin. Her answer to host Bill Hemmer:

You're running flat into the wall of my ignorance here, Bill. I truly have no indication whatsoever the extent of a relationship that exists with the Governor of Alaska.

I heard that there was an online website to nominate her and that's how he found out about her.

Yes, I read this too. It was a Colorado blogger that started the Draft Palin for VP. I am looking for the link. I read it somewhere yesterday.

Now how will Cindy feel about that?

Poor Cindy, she has to put up with so much cr^p from her hubby, and now this. If he loses think of what he will be like to live with.
On the other hand, Cindy does not want to move to Washington so she may be glad he is so stupid.
No wonder the poor lady took pills.

Don't poor cindy her....she made her bed - sleeping w/ a married man 20 some years her junior and being an enabler to all his wrong doings, along w/ helping herself to some money from her OWN charity and using it to pay for drugs. You know if some 20 year old black kid did that - he'd be thrown in the slammer for 10 years and the key would be thrown away.

" If some in the Republican Party are puzzled over John McCain's choice of vice-presidential running mate, REFINERS MAY BE QUIETLY CHEERINg - ESPECIALLY BP. Todd Palin, the husband of McCain VP pick Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, works for BP on the North Slope. BP not only runs most of the oil fields in Alaska but also owns roughly 50% of the trans-Alaskan pipeline and has a major interest in the gas reserves in Prudhoe Bay. Gov. Palin pressured state lawmakers in 2007 to push through the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act to build a natural to get gas to markets. Todd Palin, known in the state as "First Dude," returned to work for BP late last month after taking a leave of absence from the company in January, according to the Anchorage Daily News. Gov. Palin does not see her husband's job as posing any conflict of interest issues because he is not in a position to affect decisions made at BP, her spokeswoman Sharon Leighow told the paper."

Euh, o-KAY... but what about the gigantic conflict of interest issue posed by his ability as BP employee/husband to influence decisions made by his wife--I mean Governor Palin--that affect BP? (Or am I missing something?)

Lets hope the NE goes after this with as much zeel as they do in going after Edwards.

I think McCain wants to lose, and hand the Dems a steaming pile of crap to deal with that they have created. And then sabatoge them like they did Kennedy, Carter and Clinton.

McCain obviously has no idea who this woman is who the extreme right forced him to nominate, since he met her only once. She is exactly the opposite of what he stated in his campaign as essential for a VP. President and Vice President should be a close-knit team that trusts and understands each other.
I can't wait to see them together since they hardly know each other.

Is JMac demonstrated a "lack of judgment" by choosing SP when she only had 3 years of executive experience as governor and mayor, does that mean that BHO demonstrated a "lack of judgment" when he himself chose to run for President with only 1 year as Senator under his belt?

Nice...Discount his time in the State Senate - 7 years...Oh yeah, wait, Obama and Lincoln have similar paths in politics...Now Palin, her "experience" before being Gov of a state that does not have any of the issues most US states have, was being a council member in an oil town of 9,000 people...I can't listen to this crap anymore...

Here’s a report (excerpted from the popular blog The Moderate Voice):

[Governor Palin’s] oldest girl is rumored to have actually been the one who had the last baby, the one with Down’s Syndrome. She was taken out of school the last 4 or 5 months of her mother’s pregnancy.

On March 5th, 2008 Alaska’s Republican Governor, Sarah Palin, announced to the media that she was 7 months pregnant with her 5th child. She is currently 44.

Palin’s daughter Bristol is 16 and attends an Anchorage high school. Students who have attended class with her report that she has been out of school for months, claiming a prolonged case of mono.

Palin does not appear pregnant in any recent photographs. The announcement came as quite a shock to people who had worked closely with her, and have been quoted as saying that she did not appear pregnant whatsoever during the prior 7 months.

Since these rumors have begun circulating, the Alaska Department of State has taken down ALL PHOTOS of the governor and her family from the state’s website.

The National Enquirer is all over this one.........................

Palin says she was in labor, gave a speech (but nobody knew because she didn't look pregnant), got on a plane back to Alaska and then gave birth a few hours later. That didn't sound believable to me but this does. . If it is true I will think even less of Palin for accepting -- think of how hard it will be on the daughter.

HuffPost's Pick

You want to be just like the Republicans? I know it sounds fishy, but it's extremely uncommon for young women to have children with Downs. The likelihood increases drastically by age. Republicans are famous for smear. They smeared McCain in 2000 (insane, fathered black child, etc); They smear every democrat in vile and vicious ways. I don't know much about Palin, cause nobody does. What little I know, I feel is irrelevant: The real campaign is between McCain and Obama. This is a Rovian ruse to distract attention...That's all it is. A sad, desperate ploy.
