On MSNBC this evening Andrea Mitchell reported on how minimal John McCain's interactions with his choice for vice president, Sarah Palin, have been. According to Mitchell, McCain only met Palin once.

Watch the clip:

Politico has more on the short history of their encounters:

John McCain on Friday announced a running mate whom he met only six months ago and with whom he spoke just once on the phone about the position before offering it in person earlier this week.

McCain's first encounter with Sarah Palin came at a Washington meeting of the National Governors Association in February, according to a campaign-provided reconstruction of how the little-known Alaska governor was thrust into the national spotlight. The two discussed the position by phone on Sunday before McCain invited Palin and her husband to Arizona to formally make the offer. McCain, joined by his wife, Cindy, did just that Thursday morning at their home near Sedona, Ariz.

And as Think Progress is reporting, McCain Campaign spokesperson Nancy Pfotenhauer appeared on Fox News earlier today and was asked how well McCain knew Palin. Her answer to host Bill Hemmer:

You're running flat into the wall of my ignorance here, Bill. I truly have no indication whatsoever the extent of a relationship that exists with the Governor of Alaska.

Obama hasn't said anything about her. Check your facts Fox Head (Kit Kat)

And furthermore, why don't you do some of your own research on government websites? I can tell you what he's done, but you wouldn't believe it anyway! Things like Ethics reform and helping people. He also has a strong history of working with Republicans.

Kitkat12395, I just finished having a conversation with someone who is arguably as uninformed as are you. With all due respect, I sincerely feel that you should seriously consider continuing your education, assuming that you did, in fact, finish high school. You may be aware that the well-educated amongst the electorate tend to gravitate to more liberal, progressive points-of-view, politically speaking.

The Bush administration has successfully fooled the ignorant American public into living in a constant state of fear...and fear and ignorance go hand-in-hand.

Please, go back to school.

We are going to end up living in a Theocracy. It will set women back 30 years. I am hoping that Hillary will do everything she can to keep this woman from becoming the first woman VP. I am hoping she will get out there and campaign like crazy for Obama. Hillary wants to be the one to break the glass ceiling.

Amen! Unbelievable! McCain can nominate Palin ('stead of Cindy) at next year's Miss Buffalo Chip contest. Seriously? Not even in case of rape or incest? Are you kidding me? Is she going to whisper the right answers to McCain ala Lieberman? She is pretty, I'll give her that, but she makes him look like a little troll!! I cannot imagine her a heartbeat away and representing United States of America to the world. What a nightmare!

This is reminiscent of the George W. Bush nomination of Harriet Miers to the U.S. Supreme Court. That surprise galvanized the intellectual right-wing which cringed at the thought of a totally unqualified person assuming a position far beyond her capacity. Recall that W. had to hastily withdraw his choice in the face of fierce opposition from his own party. Any chance of that happening again?

Also like Miers, Palin seems to be ethically-challenged as well.

In attempting to pander to females, both Bush and McCain have actually insulted bright, thoughtful women.

"In attempting to pander to females, both Bush and McCain have actually insulted bright, thoughtful women."

I agree. The Redumblicans assumed that female voters--"disaffected Hillary supporters," in particular--would be naive enough to throw their support behind McAbuser's candidacy, simply
because he chose a female running mate. If I were a woman, I'd be highly insulted.

Sources say? Name them or shut up. For sure we know that Sarah was a pot smoker ..and she eloped after graduation, needing to get two witnesses from a nearby old age home. Google it. There is no mention of a church marriage. Now she poses as an "evangelical" goody two shoes? I'm over the hypocrisy. So, she meet with McCain once...and she is....his choice for VP?

SP wasn't breaking any laws by smoking pot, since it was legal in Alaska at the time.

BHO, on the other hand, was committing felonies by using cocaine when he could afford it.

She is going to do what the neo-conservatives tell her to do. Why the hell do you think they picked her? Both she and McCain are too stupid to run the country, just like George Bush. Cheney's staff ran the country for the last four years, and so will hers, if the country is stupid enough to elect her.

It's not gonna happen. Obama can't be stopped. He is our future. God save America.

Right. John McCain had little to do with his VP pick. He's not even comfortable around her. He's doing what he's told to do. The only reason we heard that Rove told Lieberman to drop out was because Lieberman talked. And you wonder why McCain's campaign person said that John doesn't speak for his campaign. That was a slip, and it is true. McCain is just another front man for the real bosses who have been running this country for the last 8 years.

"They're not going to be worried about the details and they won't mind if they break the law to get to the final result that they want," adds Schlussel. She believes it is a "major news story when a presidential candidate receives money from 'a bastion of Islamic terrorism.' And Schlussel argues that the media is "bending over backwards to help Barack Obama and cover up any negative news about him."

Schlussel says Pamela Geller will likely file a Federal Election Commission complaint against the Obama campaign for violating restrictions and limits .

Palin loves Pat Buchanan.

I wonder what Lieberman thinks about McCain's choice. Haven't heard much from him in the past couple of days...

Guess the silence says it all.

Obama receives illegal funds from 'terrorist hotbed'

Jim Brown - OneNewsNow - 8/6/2008 6:00:00 AM

According to Federal Election Commission filings, Barack Obama has received illegal donations from Palestinians living in Gaza, a hotbed of Hamas terrorist

Obama received more than $24,000 in campaign contributions over a period of two months last fall from three Palestinian brothers from the "Edwan" family in Rafah, Gaza, which is a Hamas stronghold along the border with Egypt. The story was uncovered by Pamela Geller of the Atlas Shrugs blog. (see Federal Election Commission report)
Attorney and conservative commentator Debbie Schlussel notes foreign nationals are barred from making contributions in connection with any election -- federal, state, or local -- and an individual is allowed to give only $2,300 per election to a federal candidate or the candidate's campaign committee.
The donations are basically through and through illegal -- that's number one. And number two is how the Obama campaign tried to conceal it," Schlussel chides. "They listed the campaign contributions as coming from Rafah, Georgia. They used the 'GA' from Gaza so it makes it look like it's legal; and then for the zip code it says '972,' which is actually the area code to dial over to Gaza," she contends.
The attorney comments that if the Obama campaign is willing to "accept thousands of dollars beyond the legal limit and they're also going to flout [Federal Election Commission] restrictions...that's very indicative of what kind of president [Obama] is going to be."

this is the way it is- there are 2 types of voters - the smart ones - who actually see whats going on and vote democrat- and the big dopey masses- who fall for rhetoric like "flip flopper" and swift boating and fox news- and unfortunatley for mccain- we've recently found out that they are more sexist than racist-

they will either stay home - or vote for the man over a woman-

Everyone agrees that not enough is known about Palin. McCain met her once.

Do Americans want to elect a president who would make this choice so recklessly? Do we want another gimmick?

McCain failed, once again, to show that he has the judgement to take the problems of this country seriously. This is a very important time in our country. I don't see how any sane person would be happy with such an inexperienced person advising the president -- much less a heart-beat away from it herself.
