Washington Post:

Republican officials said yesterday that they are considering delaying the start of the GOP convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul because of Tropical Storm Gustav, which is on track to hit the Gulf Coast, and possibly New Orleans, as a full-force hurricane early next week.

The threat is serious enough that White House officials are also debating whether President Bush should cancel his scheduled convention appearance on Monday, the first day of the convention, according to administration officials and others familiar with the discussion.

Gustav might be good cover for the repubs to delay the convention and figure out a good excuse for Palin to withdraw from the VP slot.

How sad that they might have to delay the convention, and how ironic. I bet they have it all figured out, too, money and logistics-wise. Goodness knows we can't have any precious officials getting hurt, now can we?

Just think - if that much emphasis had been placed on the Gulf Coast when Katrina hit, a lot more people would have been saved. I think it goes to show just who is more important in their eyes, and it isn't We the People.

Mcpow can don a robe and put Palin's husband to work building an ark so he can save all the little endangered creatures - oh that's right, there aren't any endangered creatures - just make it big enough for him and cindy, everybody else is on their own.

Please, don't postpone your convention. In the midst of a crisis, WE ARE GOING TO NEED A GOOD LAUGH!

They should save money and delay it until 2016... maybe even later.

Ahhh gee they are not going to maintain the Bush let them eat cake attitude? Oh sorry that was let me eat cake and play guitar while everyone drowns in New Orleans. Sorry I thin the rethugs should stick to tried and true tactics of screw the people. I mean it seems to work for them, I'm damn confused how it can but maybe it is just a sign that most people in this country would not give one crap about their fellow man.

Oh nonsense. All this is, and all it was ever meant to be, is just a headline to fool a couple of people in to thinking the GOP has a softer image.

Like you can just reschedule all the workers, the venue, all the attendees reservations and everything else, just like that?!! That could prove very difficult and create a situation where there will be even fewer attendees. So many Repubs had decided not to attend, already.

""The Republicans can't seem to catch a break when it comes to August and when it comes to the weather," said Karl Rove, a former Bush adviser, on Fox News yesterday".

As I recall you guys were praying for rain, guess you guys prayed really hard?

Now, you worry about how it would look if you are seen celebrating, as opposed to just wanting to be available to do everything you failed to do the first time around? What a bunch of selfish pr*cks!

Has anyone else noticed the irony here? Focus on the family puts out a video asking their minions to pray for rain in Denver, and the republican convention may be postponed by a hurricane? A hurricane that may hit New Orleans?

An unbiased observer could only conclude that God does hear our prayers, and has just bitch slapped Focus on the Family!

The storm is a very serious thing. Peoples lives are at stake. It doesn't matter what the RNC does as to the convention. What Matters is WHAT will the republicans do after the storm hits. How are they planning to help the people in the already devasted areas, especially the forgotten.
03:54 PM on 08/29/2008
But it is not their nature to help people. Have you not noticed?

The storm is very serious. However, the McBush camp NEEDS time to learn a few things about their V.P. candidate. Otherwise, all of the speakers would have no alternative other than to resort to reading their notes when they speak her praises in their various speeches next week. Yeah - just like McCain did this morning when he was talking about her. It was as though she was a stranger to him. Kinda odd I thought. One would have thought that McCain would have committed some parts of his introduction to memory. I expect that he will read his entire acceptance speech from his notes while looking down anyway. What am I thinking, McCain can't be bothered with anything as modern as a teleprompter.

1) She won't be the nominee. It's a smokescreen. Someone else will be nominated along with her at the convention and that person will get it. They are trying to wrong foot the Dems. Bait and switch.

2) McCain really is as out of touch as he seems.

3) The Repubs have given up on this election and "giving" the nom to McCain. He and Palin will lose and lose badly. The Maverick thorn in the RNC's side will have had his try at the WH and will go away. RNC will not have a potential "real" VP candidate "tainted" by association with McCain and the RNC will make as much trouble as they can for the next four years, then put up an actual candidate in 2012.

Memo to McSame folks:

Minn-St.Paul is not in a tropical location... and by calling attention to the hurricane threat, they draw equal attention to the Repubs miserable failure in New Orleans, so bring it on McBush/Quaylin!!
05:28 PM on 08/29/2008
Bush is to speak the first night and if people are drowning in New Orleans he will HAVE to be in Washington or face the wrath of eating cake while people died a second time.

Perhaps proof that Katrina wasn't the result of the sinful gays in N.O. as Hagee proclaimed.
It was really because of all the Republicans in N.O. LOL!!!
God is angry at Republicans. ;)
