In an unusually heated attack on a veteran political reporter by a cable news host, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann laced into the Associated Press's Charles Babington an hour after Barack Obama had concluded his speech in Denver on Thursday night.

With rare exception, nearly all of the top commentators and reporters on the three cable news networks had hailed Obama's speech as something new and powerful, and filled with specifics, and predicted it would have a positive effect on his chances vs. John McCain. This hallelujah chorus included conservatives such as Bill Kristol and Pat Buchanan and the longtime Republican David Gergen, as well as Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams. Buchanan called it the best and most important political convention speech he had ever heard, going back 48 years.

Good riddens, Olbermann. His lack of ethical wherewithal throughout his coverage was unbelievable. Hence his designation as Dirtbag of the Day: http://piedmontpost.blogspot.com/2008/09/dirtbag-of-day.html

Olbermann for President! or at least lets get this guy running the party because the Dems are always weak. Olbermann always packs punch, the Reps are always willing to get nasty and thats the game that Olbermann plays while the rest of the party is thinking how not to upset any right wingers.

Gotta love the republicans who are now squealing when someone dishes back Nasty like their fav talking heads from past 20+ years. What hypocritical whiners

Republicans gotta post everywhere because if they stopped screaming distortions, excuses, lies and more lies than someone might see the emperor has no clothes ie the republican agenda is bankrupt. National Debt climbing thru roof, economy failing because of fall-out from deregulation, war against a country (because we didn't like thier religion, government or politics not to mention wanting toehold in oil land) shredding the constitution, Gee what a good reason to squander billions of tax dollars, cause the death of over a million innocent civilians, lose 1000s of fine soldiers and generally show ourselves to be imperialist hypocrits. Not to mention abandoning the true war we should be fighting in Afghanistan where Osama and gang reside.

I like that if Barrack Obama were running for Vice President (as is Palin) he would get criticized for not having enough experience. Yeah, "4 years in Senate" with two of those being on the campaign trail.

Then he picks Biden to cover for his lack of foreign experience. However, Biden has been in congress for ages. How is that bringing "CHANGE" to Washington?

Sounds like more of the same to me.

Again, did anyone see Obama scrambling for words during the Saddleback Debate? When he found some it sounded like me taking a college essay test, just write enough words to cover up the lack of sound principle thought. Hilariously soaring rhetoric on his part?

How are the radicals dismissing his lack of message during that debate? I await your response, which I assume will just attack McCain, or is it McSame, I forget the clever witticisms of the lefties...

I'm waiting for the reply to your comment too but suspect it will not be an Obomanation or more of the Hussein...

What is...like-able about John McCain?
09:55 AM on 09/02/2008
Here's one of the main differences between libs and conservatives...

I want a leader who is firm and speaks soundly. I don't need someone to entertain me. I want someone who knows what they believe. Yes, they can change their mind on issues. But not every other week.

I don't want a celebrity who makes me cry with joy to be President of the United States. I want someone who can do the job.

I await swears and liberal attacks on this post... go ahead.

You just lost all credibility with the statement, " I want a leader who is firm." LOL! You go ahead and vote for McSame. Check your candidate if you want the king of flip flop. Do some research will you? You're embarassing yourself.

"I want someone who knows what they believe"... well you picked the wrong guy! McCain was for a woman's right to choose before he was against it, he was against drilling in Alaska (ANWR) before he was for it, he was against Christian meddling in politics before he jumped in bed with them. He sure doesn't sound like someone of strong conviction or a candidate that even knows what he does believes, does he? I agree with another writer here, you have embarrassed yourself with your ignorance of the issues and the positions of your candidate.

I have a co-worker who is a Republican and we can agree to disagree on some subjects, but this brand of dishonest journalism displayed by “AP” is just wrong. Republicans seem to be using "Eric Cartman” a character from the cartoon show "South Park" as a model for there media rebuttals. If they can't have it their way they take their ball and go home, or in this case write some thing totally lacking in objectivity. This is familiar, like the weapons of mass destruction or “Yellow Cake” neither one, of which like Mr. Olbermanns’ journalistic integrity has yet to be found as of this date. Republicans also believe if they can foul enough media outlets with tainted opinions some will stick to the minds of the mentally infirm and in doing so help their man to win. I hope they do succeed; I want them to attract all the mentally infirm voters they can. I have just one thing to say, ”Somebody take away Mr.Olbermanns’ pencils” (I know I mean unplug his laptop). He is forever banned from the realm of serious critical, objective journalism. If I were his boss I’d never sign another one of his paychecks.

Here’s the data on the yellow cake news censored from media publication.
From Iraq for tens of MILLIONS of DOLLARS Canada in July 2008 purchased 550 metric tons of that non existent YELLOW CAKE that the press deliberately avoids admitting EXISTS since these facts would interfere with their political sophistry.

Check the Canadian papers. The media omission and discussion is inexcusable. Just imaging Saddam could have sold this yellow cane when the embargo was in effect and fed those starving kids the left was screaming about who were starving because of the embargo… Saddam could have used the money to feed those kids and other alleged needs resulting from that embargo and avoided the war too…

US shipped Iraq's yellowcake to Canada'

The Pentagon says the US military secretly transferred hundreds of metric tons of yellowcake uranium from Iraq to Canada this year.

Keith: This was a "commentary," an opinion piece, not a news story. I appreciate your concern, but this is not a Fox News type situation. The story was appropriately labeled "commentary." By commenting on it, you gave it more publicity than it truly deserved.

In the mold of James T Calendar during revolutionary times they called the same kinda guys pamphleteers as was Ben Franklin… They served their political purpose then as their political purposes are even now more easily served with the left controlling the press…

Wait someone actually was watching MSNBC to hear Olbemann say something? You have got to be kidding us. This has to be a plant. ESPN has more insightful political debate. MSNBC, is that still a network? On Dishnetwork I think its a test patter with an image of a chicken. OH sorry its the old NBC Peacock but its looked pretty bad lately. Poor birdy.

I heard the comments when Keith made them and the AP reporter certainly watered down what was a fantastic speech. I mean when you can get Pat Buchanan to say that it was the greatest acceptance speech he ever heard - Obama must have done something out of the ordinary.
12:12 AM on 09/01/2008
Buchanan was impressed and refered to Obama's speech as a "Blockbuster."
02:17 AM on 09/01/2008
I wonder who wrote it. Does anyone have the names of his speech writers. They are doing a bang up job. Just the right amount of suspense, entertainment and emotion. Great story-telling. Love it!

Now we can all see why MSNBC is going belly-up. I thought O'Reilly was unlikeable - Olbemann and Mitchell were unlikeable AND vacuous.

AP prints something that doesn't fall dinto the dem party line and Keith goes ballistic. Good riddance to you AND your candidate.
02:20 PM on 09/01/2008
The only people that think MSNBC is going belly-up get their news from O'Reilly.
10:18 PM on 08/31/2008
Finally someone who stands up to the AP, good going Keith!!

Olbermann gives me a huge stiffy.

Keith is a gasbag who thinks he is MSNBC.
