Politico:

Count Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as one of the most surprised that she was chocen as unning mate for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

In an interview just a month ago, she dissed the job, saying it didn't seem "productive."

In fact, she said she didn't know what the vice president does.

She's not that attractive. Kind of dumpy looking.

We Obama supporters can't be mad because the Republican's are playing to win. If she cuts into the women voters well Obama has nobody to blame but himself because he had his chance to pick Hillary and he didn't. I'm not voting for McCain but you have to give it to him... smart move!

you ever think that maybe with all the talk of making clinton the VP, by MSM and redumblicans, mccain jumped into this choice by Obama design.

And let me say it for the last time clinton is who the redumblicans wanted to be the nominee for democratic party because she was the weaker of the two. Also, she and bill just presented an all around problem.

With all the so called experience a two term popular democrat president as her husband and she lost the primaries, it was better now than in the GE. Story over.

How is she weaker if we already know everything there is to know about her! Apparently the GOP aren't all that dumb because they have won the last two presidential elections and I would not underestimate this women. The democrats will underestimate her at their own peril.

MSM pushing HRC down the throats of the Obama campaign left this gaffe wide open for McC.
I am a senior citizen; a woman and I say if women vote for Ms Palen on the McC ticket just cause she's a woman; they don't deserve to be able to vote. Who is that stupid????????

That's rediculous. Do you understand you are being insulted. This is what the Republicans do. Dems wanted a Black Supreme court justice and who did they give us? Clarence Thomas. Want a women VP? Here's Sarah! Of all the qualified Republican female office holders with experience this was the best he could do? It's not about her ability to govern it's about her personal story, her evangelical religion, her conservative social views. MCCaine doesn't know this woman from the man in the moon.

She has much more experience than Obama and she is only running for VP

Obama knows what the job of the VP is, Ms. Plain didn't.

Maybe Ms More Experience can explain why she doesn't know what the VP does.

Experience at what? Has this woman ever been out of the US? Has she ever been to college? I'm sure none if that matters as long as you can have a beer with her.

Yes to both of your comments and she has run a state for two years more then any of the men on these tickets have done as far as executive experience is concern.

Actually, she has more experience as an elected official than obama. She has held elected positions since 1992. Obama has been a senator for 3 years...and half of those were spent running for office.

As far as Hillary goes, she was a housewife until 2000 when Bill got her elected. How does that make her qualified for anything??

Please get your facts straight. Do your homework. Obama has 8(eight) years in the Illinois legislature, and almost 4 years in the senate. Check it out for yourself.

Why don't you get your facts straight: One thing is very clear, Obama and Hillary have more experience than you.

Barack Obama:
1997-2005: Illinois state senator, representing the 13th District.

November 2004-present : U.S. Senate seat in Illinois

Sarah Palin was the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska with a population of 9000. She was elected Governor of this State with little to no media scrutiny and had a free ride to the Governorship. She did not win with a landslide majority and the thinking people of this State (including many Republicans) voted against her as she is not the brightest lightbulb in the room. She is currently embroiled in scandal after firing a very popular Public Safety Commissioner when he refused to fire her ex-brother-in-law. To date her major foreign policy experience is working with a Canadian pipeline company for her AGIA project.

As for Governing the State of Alaska, it is easy to keep the masses happy and have a high popularity rating when you have a huge oil surplus and can freely dole out $1200/person to help with energy costs.

The truth is today around most water coolers in Alaska the talk was "What - tell me this isn't true and just a bad dream." There are few diehard Palinbots in the land still who will make the national news and the GOP ads, but the reality is many people Democrats and Republics are just scared speechless of thinking this former Wasilla Beauty Queen could be a heartbeat from the Presidency.

Not sure what the VP does Sarah? Here's what John Adams had to say:
"the most insignificant office that ever the invention of man contrived or his imagination conceived."

As VP you get the powers that the constitution gives you (break a tie in the Senate, replace the president upon his death) and whatever the President decides to give you. You were brought on to bring a pretty female image to the campaign posters and because your politics won't annoy the base. Having done that you will have completed everything they want of you unless you negotiated for specific responsibilities as part of agreeing to being on the ticket. You did remember to negotiate for that didn't you? You didn't? Well maybe you can fall back on John McCain's trust in relying on you in the past? He's never asked you about anything? On the plus side you will have plenty of time to spend with the kids.

Hee hee... I'd been thinking about that clip whenever Sarah was mentioned.

But, seriously, just Google the woman... it would appear that more than a few would like to see her leave Alaskan politics. She's like the Stepford-Hockey-Mom-Politician. Where in the hell does she find time for her kids??? Especially the one she just popped out with special needs??? Something just isn't right with her - or with McCain for even thinking about choosing her for VP.

What Sara Palin has.

she's young (so is Huckabee, or ANYBODY compared to McCain)
she's conservative (so is Huckabee)
She wants creationism to be taught in the schools (so does Huckabee)
she is all about oil (who isn't in the Republican party?)
She connects well with sixpack Joe (so does Huckabee)
She is an outsider with a fresh view (like Huckabee)
She gets the votes of the evangelicals and the homeschoolers (so does Huckabee)
She doesn't believe Global Warming is suing the governement for putting them on the threatened list (Huckabee seems a bit more reasonable than that, but he could pander)
She's popular (in Alaska) but Huckabee is popular on Colbert Report and garnered electoral votes AFTER it was obvious he couldn't win.

So She's.......Huckabee Lite

but.....but....but... she's........lactating and has ovaries? Try THAT, Huckabee!

Basically, Huckabee could have fulfilled the role and more Republicans would be on board with that.

Palin as a bridge to women voters disenchanted by Hillary's loss?

More like a Bridge to Nowhere

Let's just be glad it wasn't Huckabee! I think he would have brought along a lot more votes than this person will bring. Ridiculous choice. Freakin' scary choice considering the old man could keel over any day. I think it will backfire.

She lied about being against the bridge to nowhere. In an article of the Anchorage Daily News oct 22 2006 page A12 article where they stand

5. Would you continue state funding for the proposed Knik Arm and Gravina Island bridges?

Yes. I would like to see Alaska's infrastructure projects built sooner rather than later. The window is now--while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist.

Let's not forget that Obama has been in public view for a year and the people have had a lot of time to decide if his "lack of experience" is a problem. The Democratic Party has decided he has what it takes.

The Republicans don't get that chance with Palin.

Maybe somebody will stage a coup and place another name in nomination for VP? Now, THAT would make for a very interesting convention.

"she said she didn't know what the vice president does."

She is also on record, or so I've read, as saying in a 2007 interview that she doesn't know much about Iraq. Senator McCain is on record as saying he does not know much about the economy. Seems to me if we start adding up what this ticket does not know the country is in deep trouble. Its like "tag team Bushies". Four more years of absolute ignorance guaranteed.
