Politico:

Count Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as one of the most surprised that she was chocen as unning mate for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

In an interview just a month ago, she dissed the job, saying it didn't seem "productive."

In fact, she said she didn't know what the vice president does.

Normally, I would be laughing my ass off, but knowing how stupid so many Americans are this is worrisome. Would someone convince me that Americans are smarter than this, please?

Sorry. They're not smarter than this. Moose burgers, snow mobiles, and rifles (a few of her favorite things) will impress the hell out of the electorate.

You are overlooking the BEST one....those glasses she wears? The lenses aren't even prescription. According to the LA Times, she wears them because she thinks they make her look more intelligent. OMG!

Please note that she also intimated that she'd only be interested in the job if taking the job would be advantageous to Alaska.

Doesn't sound like putting the *country* first, to me.

hillary has another motivation for going after palin. she doesn't want her being the first woman v.p. hillary is thinking perhaps she'll make another run, and wants to be 'first'.

SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE VP DOES????!!! And yet she accepted the postion although she clearly thinks it's non-productive???!!! What kind of out-and-out stu pidity is that?

Biden is going to chew her up and spit her out!!! And I can't wait to witness it!!! I truly feel that JMac had absolutely no help in coming to the decision of selecting this individual. I don't believe he listened to one of his advisors. His thought process was, "Here's a skirt, let's grab it and run with it!!!

I couldn't be more unimpressed as a woman and an Obama supporter. It's like everyone's been saying, she's not even worthy of shining Hillary's shoes!

Well I hope Cheney doesn't call her up and fill her in on the possibilities of being VP...like running the country into the ground.

Not a problem, if her being sworn-in as President on January 20th, 2009 weren't a possibility.

Obama's choice... ready on day one.

McCain's choice... not even sure what job she's just accepted.

O.K, I've read the quote twice. So, she's saying, at that time, her interest in the V.P. slot hangs on the condition she can put Alaska ahead of 49 other states? Well, she got the slot. Guess if the R.P. ticket wins, we'll see the capitol moved to Alaska.

Glad to hear the Gov of Alaska is a 'pretty cool job, too.' This girl is in way, way over her head. Poor thing is going to have her head handed to her by Biden.

So what if she doesn't know what a vice-president does, McCain doesn't know what a president does.
But that doesn't matter either. Both are merely meant to be puppets for the same (you-know-whats) that have been pulling little Bush's strings.
McCain, you say, didn't make a wise choice? Well, he wasn't expected to, was he? After all, he is not intellectually gifted like that other fellow in the other party. He was 894th in a class of 899 at the Academy. Not many with worse records than he! He admits not to know anything about economics. And she doesn't either. She knows nothing about foreign relations,, and (unless he haas Joe Lieberman to feed him the answers) neither does he.
She was mayor of a great metropolis with a population of 8471, before she left, two long years ago.
BUT HE WAS A POW!!!!!!!!

O.K, I get the impression if you ask fellow POW's who served time with McCain, he was near the bottom of that class, too.

What's to know? The VEEP stands around for the president to croak. Oh. and visit schools, funerals for other heads of state, and make speeches. It's not hard, really, you don't even have to know how to spell potato.

She could use the time to fill in the gaps in her knowledge. Fortunately that won't be necessary.

YES WE CAN!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:05 PM on 08/29/2008

Here is her reason:
"We want to make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things that we’re trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the U.S., before I can even start addressing that question.”

Doesn't she get that the VP is not about ALASKA and its interest and issues, it is about the US.

Ummm... exactly. She not only doesn't know what the VP slot is about, it demonstrates her typical Alaska-machine tendencies towards cronyism. The POTUS/VPOTUS positions are about prioritizing for the country.

We don't need another Vice President putting her energy company buddies ahead of national priorities.

This is all I found on Opensecrets.org
Contributor Occupation Date Amount Recipient
PALIN, SARAH
WASILLA,AK 99654 NA/HOUSEWIFE 6/8/04 $328 Republican Party of Alaska (R)
PALIN, SARAH

nothing from the husbad.

She couldn't give $200 to McCain?
Her husband makes more than my husband, and I assume she makes more than me (by quite a bit) but I've given more than 200 to Obama....

Guess she's just not in to him....
