Clinton

Newsweek:

When Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin arrived backstage for our NEWSWEEK Women & Leadership Event in Los Angeles last March, John McCain had just wrapped up the GOP nomination. Palin had yet to endorse McCain--she liked Mitt Romney--and as we waited in the green room, I urged her to "feel free" to make some news on stage. She grinned broadly--looking back, I guess it was a grin of the Cheshire Cat variety--and thanked me for the offer.

Once onstage, together with Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, Palin talked about what women expect from women leaders; how she took charge in Alaska during a political scandal that threatened to unseat the state's entire Republican power structure, and her feelings about Sen. Hillary Clinton. (She said she felt kind of bad she couldn't support a woman, but she didn't like Clinton's "whining.")

This is a REAL test for Hillary. This woman insults her and counters everything she stands for. Maybe she wanted to sit back and passively watch Obama lose. But that would further ruin the Clinton's legacy. This pick can be more effectively countered by Hillary, Nancy Pelosi and other Dem female politicians. Will they deliver? It depends how much they believe their own hype.

Insult her? Don't believe everything you hear from the MSM. This is what Palin said: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEUG0XZ9OpY

Clinton does not owe Obama anything but a good swift kick in the butt. Obama poured tens of millions of dollars per month into advertising with the networks that dogged Clinton in the news media. He knew what they were doing.

You are suggesting Obama should have cut off all advertising during his campaign to participate in some boycott?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:51 PM on 08/30/2008

Absolutely! I think Hillary is certainly smart enough to strongly come out against being used in this manner. It is clearly in her best interest to do so regardless of how she feels about Obama/Biden. If not, so be it, but, she will be finished politically.

Hillary wore orange.

Independent Ukraine’s fourth presidential election since the collapse of the Soviet Union was supposed to reach a final conclusion in the Nov. 21 runoff. On Monday, the Electoral Commission said preliminary tallies showed Moscow’s favored candidate, Yanukovych, ahead by three percentage points. But immediately, there were widespread accusations by Ukrainian and foreign monitors of massive fraud that included voter intimidation, physical assaults and the torching of ballot boxes. Yet the state-controlled media, which had backed Yanukovych through the five-month campaign, were reporting no major violations. Convinced the election was being stolen from the rightful victor, supporters of Western-leaning opposition leader Yushchenko poured into Kiev’s Independence Square to demand that their man be recognized as the winner. City residents mixed with swarms of protesters from across the country, all of them wearing something orange, the color of Yushchenko’s Our Ukraine party. Despite heavy snow and freezing temperatures, the crowd was in a festive mood, eager to embrace Yushchenko’s orange revolution against the country’s Moscow-backed old guard.

Hillary's response so far has been completely inadequate. Pedantic, wooden, safe, tepid, and insincere.

Go after Hillary. Protect your legacy. Protect everything you have worked for and believe in.

Perhaps Senator Clinton refuses to have a battle of the wits with someone who is unarmed (no, I don't mean guns). Another option is indifference means Senator Clinton has more important issues to deal with-as a Senator and Getting Senator Obama elected.

McCain is a short-timer. If Palin became President, expect a country where rapists select the mother/victim of their offspring, because there would be no abortions, for any reason.

Is Palin also making abortion illegal in Mexico and Canada? Boy, she is amaizing, doing that after only a presumptive VP nomination. Your concern for rape victems is touching.

I'm having a really hard time understanding this PUMA stance.

So - it is ok to throw out Roe vs Wade to get a woman elected vice president because abortions can still be performed in Canada and Mexico? And I'm sure that there would be some nice, cheap back alley practitioners available as well.

Do you remember when John McCain went to Maine to consult with Bubba Bush about his VP Choice? I would bet that Bubba told him to choose the brilliant Governor from Alaska. Why? Because that grantees a loss for McCain. Who would run in four years? JEBB BUSH?!?!

Bush sr knows that the bush family will never get the white house again (thanks to his disaster son GWB). In jeb last day as gov of Florida bush sr was crying because he realized that jeb will never be in public office again. so your comments are out the window. Now something that was truth is that from march to june MCCain was doing nothing but throwing the elections away to Obama, but the NEocons realized that with Obama in power it would postpone their world dominations plans for 8 years.

If she doesn't like Hill's whining, why doesn't she tell the Repubs to stop already with the 'don't bully her' statements? They're already saying that they hope that Biden won't bully her. She's running for 2nd in command of the USA! She's supposed to have a spine of steel! There's no crying in baseball!

Keep it up... Obots..... you will not win women over by your comments.....

Her personal story is certainly more impressive Obama's. She achieved a powerful office while raising five children, including one with Down's syndrome. By contrast, Obama was told: "Here's a pot of money; take 18 months to write a book." And even then, he dawdled. In school, he once took a year to write a 25 page paper. He never contributed to the Harvard Law Review, even when he was its president. The only struggle Barack Obama has known is the struggle with writer's block.

The Obots made a big mistake -- bigger than they could have guessed -- when they made this election about identity politics. To put the matter crudely, there are more women than African Americans in this country. The Democratic party has taken both groups for granted for too long. Now they may lose one -- the larger one.

All that is necessary is for Cheeto-head "progressives" to continue alienating Clinton supporters by indulging in loud misogyny. And lo! They are doing just that.

Yeah, that's the way to bring 'em on board: Insult them! (By the way, if the PUMAs are numerically insignificant, as the progs claim, why do the Kossacks talk about them incessantly?)

Keep it up, guys. Keep it up!

We women have brains, which the vast majority of us actually use. We don't need to be "won over" - it's the presidency, not a date. Any woman worth her chromosomes who wishes to retain Roe v. Wade or have any prayer of ever obtaining equal pay for equal work is voting Obama, and decided to do so at the latest by the end of the Dem primary. Anyone else still sitting on the fence, or undecided, or strictly "voting vagina" is not a rational voter and is therefore almost certainly a lost cause.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:34 PM on 08/30/2008

She achieved what high office while raising 5 children? The one she was just appointed to? The baby is 4 months old, so she had 3 when she became mayor and 4 when she won governor. McToken's choice cannot hold a candle to Hillary nor will she attract women who think. This is all about McToken's poor judgment. He threw this woman into the lion's den with a prime rib in her diaper bag.

She's got to be kidding when she says she might have supported HRC if it wasn't for the whining. I doubt that the ultra-conservative Palin would have supported a pro-choice candidate, under any circumstances. She would have set her ideology aside based on gender? I doubt it. But by pretending it was so, she got to take a jab at HRC.

Ok- I've had it!! When are women, and I am one, going to realize that we do not vote for a woman just because she is a woman?! We have hopefully been voting all these years for men who we "thought" would be great representatives for all of us, ALL of us. Not just the few, but the many, many, many....after 8 years of moronic leadership, how can we now even dare to compare Mrs. Palin to Hillary? Hillary Clinton, a whiner? Give me a break. Give us all a break- oh, wait- the Republicans, thanks to SENATOR McCain have already done that by nominating an unknown, completely annoying(have you heard her speak?), untested and INEXPERIENCED woman as his running mate. Thank YOU!!! You have guaranteed the many a big win for the democrats. And we will do everything in our power to make sure that the Obama-Biden ticket wins. Come on "women" look at what this lady stands for and make up your minds based on that and not just because she is a woman! Hillary would be the first person to agree. Vote for the person who best meets your criteria, not someone else's. We have had 8 year, 8 years of this- ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:48 PM on 08/30/2008

Sarah Palin has it all. Now the feminazis are in panic mode trying to convince the female electorate to vote on merit not gender since Hillary is out. Sarah is pretty, brainy, and gutsy. A self sufficient gal like Sarah is going to be turned of by the whining of a Hillary. She is fighting for women and children(not just the "perfect" ones) and was elected to office on her own. she didn't need the sympathy vote . Her husband respects her and doesn't feel the need to cat around. She's a women that men can vote for.

Can any of the PUMAs who plan on voting for McCain explain why Bill and Hillary chose to speak at the Democrat's convention if they were treated so egregiously by the party? And why would they publicly throw their support behind Obama if his campaign was the chief culprit?

I know there is the argument that had they not done so, they would become outcasts. If that was the only reason however, what does that say about them as people? They'll let the Dems spit in their face, but when asked, they'll toe the party line? They'll listen to Obama's campaign degrade Hillary, allegedly, but they'll tell her supporters the country would be better off with him as president?

If I were Hillary, I'd quit the party, become an independent, and run for president. She could take her 18 million Democratic supporters, along with her millions of Republican supporters and make this a three horse race. Her Republican support is completely genuine. There is no pandering there.

Until that happens, go ahead and vote for McCain. Eight years of Bush hasn't destroyed this country, four years of McCain won't either. In 2012, if Hillary runs again, perhaps I'll write-in Obama's name, because after 12 years of Republicans in the White House, what's another four? If McCain is elected, good luck with Roe v. Wade, and keeping your sons and daughters out of another bogus war.

The Democratic Party bosses were willing to take a risk selecting a candidate less likey to win bec ause they expect to have control of the legislature. Getting the Presidental position would make it easy to get what they wanted but they can make do without it. Obama was selected as an empty suit puppet that would do what they wanted him to. Yes, they gambeled with America's future for their own personal agenda.

So they lost.
