Boston Globe :

John McCain's vice-presidential pick, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is an evangelical Protestant with a strong record of opposition to abortion and an openness to teaching creationism in the public schools.

Palin is the mother of five children, one of whom was born with Down Syndrome. She learned that her son had Down Syndrome when she was four months pregnant, and she told the Associated Press in May that she never considered ending the pregnancy. "We've both been very vocal about being pro-life," she said in the AP interview. "We understand that every innocent life has wonderful potential." Palin also said of her son, whose name is Trig Paxon Van Palin, "I'm looking at him right now, and I see perfection. Yeah, he has an extra chromosome. I keep thinking, in our world, what is normal and what is perfect?"

Palin doesn't BELIEVE the earth is 5000 years old,...
McCain TOLD her,
and he was there,
in a POW camp.
So what ya gonna believe you commies,
carbon dating or a maverick POW hero and his M16 totting hottie sidekick

She says what? Down Syndrome means someone with extra chromosomes? Wrong!!! Wow no wonder she thinks Creationism should be taught in Schools alongside Science. Ignorant person.

No offense, and I make no claim regarding this woman's intelligence, but she's absolutely correct on the "extra chromosome Downs Syndrome" analysis. You should look it up. This is a good resource:

http://www.downsyn.com/whatisds.php

What's going on here is this woman is a wet dream for the "Overturn Roe" crowd. She has walked the walk; she kept that fetus as close to term as she could, then raised it in its severely handicapped state, because for her it's no abortion, ever. She is the real deal.

The repubs will be making abortion, and the overturning of Roe via the Supreme Court, the central issue in this campaign, the one that gets the loonies in the buses. You watch.

Let's see how much she trots the Downs kid out on photo ops. Probably about as much as McCain does with the extremely dark and homely Bangladeshi adoptee.

Sorry if that sounds mean, but he does hide her away, and brings out the cute blonde blogger.

Any woman who doesn't want to have an abortion, doesn't have to. There is no requirement. It was her choice to make, and everyone should respect that.

She made her CHOICE, and she ought to allow every other woman to make their own as well.

Just read the specificity of what Down Syndrome is. It is the 21st chromosome not just any chromosome. Have you heard about Klienfelter, Edwards, or Patau Syndromes? they all occur because of extra chromosomes. So she is wrong to say Down Syndrome means someone with extra chromosome. Poor description!

"Global Warming" is a theory that may or may not be true.... That this universe had a beginning and was creator by an all-powerful, all-knowing, omniscient Being is fact. The funny thing is that for one to deny this he must already presuppose that their is a Creator (namely the God of the bible). The theory of macro evolution is a fairytale for grownups who hate their Creator. There could be no scientific evidence for macro evolution because science only deals with things that are repeatable and observable. There is not a shred of evidence that any species (let alone the human species) has turned into a completely new one. Now there are variations within species (i.e. dogs) but not entire new ones springing from a different species.... The argumentation used against "creationism" is ridiculously question begging and fallacious with no cogent evidence....

I always laugh at the creationism people but then I remember to try to help them

So in that vein I just wanted to point out that the theory of evolution in no way rules out God and certainly does not rule out a single starting point for the universe. It is a study of biology, so you guys should come up with a different term because that one is just silly.

But on your point that no new species have arisen that is just not the case.
New species are actually created on a micro-organism level especially all the time and evolution is easily observed. Even in large animals it has actually been done for hundreds of hears. A Mule for example is a cross breeding of a horse and a donkey. There are even scientists coming out right now with reports of creating life from in organic chemicals.

Help them, why? Deny them evolution-based vaccines and let them go the way of the Neaderthals...nature can be cruel, but its necessary for the survival of our species, clearly.

Yeah, you should see the new newts that have evolved recently in isolated ponds in VT. There are fuschia, lime green, lemon yellow--I kid you not! Technically still classified still as mutations, but same thing, eventually. And they move very fast.

So what, exactly, did Bu$h mean a while back when he talked about how the threat of a pandemic was very real due to the flu virus's capacity to "evolve?"

Ahem.......?

She's an Assembly of God pentecostal? OMG! They are horrible. Our neighbors are AOG and they don't allow their 17 y.o. movies, cell phone, pizza, driving, music (of any kind) - OMG. They daily try to "save" and convert me for the Rapture.

Please don't judge the entire Assemblies of God denomination based solely upon your neighbors. I am AoG and I'll admit that there are some Christian fanatics in my church, but you will find that in any denomination or religion. Just because your neighbors do not allow movies, pizzas, cell phones, etc. does not mean that that correlates to our religious beliefs because it does not. You can see for yourself what the AoG doctrine is at http://ag.org/top/Beliefs/Statement_of_Fundamental_Truths/sft_short.cfm I appologize on behalf of your neighbors for giving you such a poor view of AoG. Don't judge Sarah Palin on this one experience. She appears to be a strong women of faith and integrity, and I am excited for her to be chosen as McCain's running mate.

McCain says he sees himself in Palin. Maybe he knows he's going to lose, so he's
just trying to introduce the keeper of his flame on the national stage before he goes back
to Sedona forever. Palin 2012?

Because, let's face it, Palin 2008 is beyond farce.

After hearing of McCain's pick, I had to pick myself up off the floor after rolling around in uncontrollable laughter for 5 minutes. Looking at her nearly nonexistent resume, I didn't realize simply being a woman qualifies you to be VP! This will definitely go down well with Romney who was until now McCain's attack dog! McCain sure didn't make anyone's job of defending him easier. And what about McCain's one and only assertion that Senator Obama doesn't have the experience? Looks like he just tossed that out by picking someone with virtually no experience as potential president!!! Let me get this right: Obama picks someone with the most experience in Washington and McCain picks someone with the least? This just keeps getting better and better.

On abortion. I wish people would just say what their positions are.
Her policy is to lock 15 year old girls who have abortions in prison.

How moral
