Van Halen

John McCain ended the big rally introducing Sarah Palin as his running mate with the Van Halen song "Right Now," and the band is not pleased, reports TMZ:

After John McCain used a Van Halen song during his big speech earlier today, the band wants to make to make one thing clear -- they're not running with McCain.

Van Halen management tells us the band had no idea McCain was planning on using "Right Now" during his big entrance in Ohio telling us, "Permission was not sought or granted nor would it have been given."

Oops! But it's familiar territory.

Just two weeks ago, rocker Jackson Browne was similarly furious about McCain using one his songs.

Here the song start up at the very end of Palin's speech, 25 minutes into the clip here.

Just because they don't support McCain? They have the rights to their music and the McCain campaign should have asked for permission. Im sure you won't be missed...

I did notice from the picture that McCain has saved Palin a seat.

The Republican Kleptocracy is so inured to appropriating other's property without permission they will continue to do this until the election. If they do it with your tax dollars (9 billion "evaporated" in Iraq, and still not even the semblance of accountability for it) they don't have a problem with somebody's song!

To the idiot that suggested that the Beach Boys also sue McCain.

1. The Beach Boys/Mike Love are also Republicans.
2. The Beach Boys are also scheduled to play at the RNC.

You all sound like a bunch of high school retards.

When I was in high school... the Republican James Watt didn't want the Beach Boys to perform, not because they were an embarrassing cover band version of their former selves (which could have been commendable) no... it was that having a 'rock band' perform would send the 'wrong message'.

Hahahahaha!

What a bunch of trolls you all are. What is the average age of the posters here? 12? 13?

1. Sammy Hagar is a Republican. He was scheduled to perform at the RNC.
2. VH loves/needs the publicity.
3. The record company is the only one to complain because they didn't get in McCain's pockets first.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:21 AM on 09/01/2008

1. Sammy Hagar is no longer a member of VH, and diehard VH fans refer to the Sammy era as "Van Hagar", not Van Halen.
2. VH does not need publicity that badly - or I should say, not THAT kind of publicity.
3. The record companies don't need CINDY McCain's money. Johnny would be a greeter at WalMart if not for Cindy's money.

Who calls people "retards"? How old are you? 12? 13?

This might be a little than you could understand. But you know how the Republicans love empty symbolism? Like their pick Palin for VP? I would imagine that more than publicity or money, VH probably didn't want their song to stand for or promote something they find reprehensible. Some people DO stand for things they believe in, and few of those people are left in the GOP.

"Running with the Devil" would have been more appropriate. And it kicks!

TIME to start talking about the Keating FIVE!

it is DISGRACEFUL that MSM is not covering this story of outrageous influence peddling by Mc Same!

Also, time to start talking about the banking scandal that McCain's son is involved in. The main stream media need to find out what McCain knew and when he knew it about his son's banking scandal and what Cindy and John McCain's financial exposure was in the bank.

"A quick update on the still unreported saga of Silver State Bancorp, the failing bank where John McCain's (R) son Andrew served as a director and member of the bank's Audit Committee. (See here, here and here for refreshers.)"

"...McCain suddenly resigned from the bank, citing "personal reasons" and neither McCain nor the bank has returned phone calls to local media. The national media still isn't paying attention to this serious story."

This apple did not fall far from the apple tree.

Another distasteful image. But he will probably outlive McCain... and Cindy too. Maybe Palin.

Mc Cain thinks he IS above the law. karl Rove gave him permisson Eddie Van H. should sent him an invite to meet him in court. Just think Jackson Browne, Van Halen. My honor and Mc same. I'd buy a ticket for that.

In doin this without written and prior consent from the band or thier legal team? he committed copyright in fringement, a federal crime. This is also considered an ethics violation. Eddie isn't the only one who has filed on thier behalf. I contacted the Obamma team to inform them of the ethics violation, copyright infringement committed by the Mccain Camp. Unlike a traffic ticket? This carries a jail term up to 15 years. Either McCain's people assume like Bush they are above the law, or they are just really that dumb. Either way, its not going to just go away. Hello, Big Sister is watching and mad as hell.

Web blogging standards are admittedly lower, which is a shame, but even in the job market, managers tell educated people to "dumb down" their communication, right down to end-user documentation -- after all, having qualified people to do the work costs too much...

I apologize for any grammatical errors. Being one of many periphery blogs I add comments to, I don't have the time to be perfect...
