Diddy Halts Private Jet Flights Over Fuel Prices

LOS ANGELES — Fuel prices have grounded an unexpected frequent-flyer: Diddy.

Sean "Diddy" Combs complained about the "... too high" price of gas and pleaded for free oil from his "Saudi Arabia brothers and sisters" in a YouTube video posted Wednesday. The hip-hop mogul said he is now flying on commercial airlines instead of in private jets, which Combs said had previously cost him $200,000 and up for a roundtrip between New York and Los Angeles.

"I'm actually flying commercial," Diddy said before walking onto an airplane, sitting in a first-class seat and flashing his boarding pass to the camera. "That's how high gas prices are. I'm at the gate right now. This is really happening, proof gas prices are too high. Tell whoever the next president is we need to bring gas prices down."

Years ago I predicted, somewhere, likely not here, but on some random blog, that this guy was going to bankrupt one day. Given his affinity for partying and spending, and the expense of his fixed obligations (i.e., alimony, etc.), and the limited lasting value of his name branding, it was bound to eventually happen. I think he might in the throes of a massive debt restructuring, replete with a fixed allowance, thus the preemptive warning from him. As if we will all stop in our tracks, mouth's agape and awestruck at the sight of Diddly waiting in an airline queue like the rest of us. Give me a break. If I passed him while boarding a jet I'd probably flatulate in his general direction.

What a fool. Most of us are worried about the gas in our cars - u think we care if Diddy has to now fly first class instead of private jet??! Diddy - I want to like you but please, get a grip on reality. A Haitian friend of mine has just lost his home, his cows and all his possessions - everything - in Hurricane Gustav. Many have lost their lives. Isn't it a little insulting for you to be complaining about having to slum it in first class in stead of flying in a private yet...???
