Palin

The Anchorage Daily News is reporting that many of Palin's local colleagues, even Republican, were rather stunned by her being chosen as McCain's vice president.

State Senate President Lyda Green said she thought it was a joke when someone called her at 6 a.m. to give her the news.

"She's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president?" said Green, a Republican from Palin's hometown of Wasilla. "Look at what she's done to this state. What would she do to the nation?"

The deceit here is stunning, cynical, shameless.

Only Republicans define experience, patriotism, qualifications. If you argue with them you are unpatriotic or "liberal" -- a label delivered with a sneer.

This cynical assault on truth must be confronted and shown for what it is.

Since when did being a hockey mom with 5 kids become the qualifier for being in the second most important job in the most powerfufl country in the world. I guess being in charge of the Alaskan national guard for a year and a half sealed the deal. This is the most unqualified VP pick every. But then again with Repubs governance never requires qualifications.

Exactly. To them competence is a dirty word. Someone has got to call 'em on it. His name might be Gustav.

True. Republicans only need a narrative which is always pulled out of thin air ... At least this narrative, pathetic though it may be, seems to be authentic... and that's something the repubs sorely lack...They'll soon frill it up with tidbits pulled out of Rove's a$$.
Hell, who knows, Sarah could certainly sell in many parts of the USA... you know, with those who'd like to have a beer with her while she breast pumps, or cleans her rifles.
In the meantime maybe she can learn where the ME is located, etc...

"If some in the Republican Party are puzzled over John McCain's choice of vice-presidential running mate, REFINERS MAY BE QUIETLY CHEERINg - ESPECIALLY BP. Todd Palin, the husband of McCain VP pick Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, works for BP on the North Slope.

BP not only runs most of the oil fields in Alaska but also owns roughly 50% of the trans-Alaskan pipeline and has a major interest in the gas reserves in Prudhoe Bay. Gov. Palin pressured state lawmakers in 2007 to push through the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act to build a natural to get gas to markets.

Todd Palin, known in the state as "First Dude," returned to work for BP late last month after taking a leave of absence from the company in January, according to the Anchorage Daily News.

Gov. Palin does not see her husband's job as posing any conflict of interest issues because he is not in a position to affect decisions made at BP, her spokeswoman Sharon Leighow told the paper."

Great point Babs..

I immediately thought of the oil industry being against her as VP, but that's my male linear thinking. You are an example of why we need more women in government, you looked at this differently and nailed it:

If Palin becomes VP, the oil industry wins, she will be out of Alaska and the oil industry can go back to business as usual, raping Alaska and abusing the citizenry.

To her credit she has stood up to the oil interests in Alaska and increased the revenues to Alaska. The oil industry must be tickled with this choice. Even when they lose, the distraction of Palin while campaigning, (or will she resign?), will give the oil bastards an advantage.

I second that emotion!!!!

This will backfire on McSane big time, how could you even consider vetting someone that is under investigation for abuse of power? She denied any involvement until the recordings turned up, then says, ok, I know about it, but I wasn't directly involved, my husband was....

DUUUHHHH!!

Yeah, I've heard that, too. Also, pictures of Gov. Palin when she was "pregnant" are being systematically scrubbed from the Internet.

I don't know what to say after seeing this picture.... I just don't. Nick, you have silenced me...

In jest, I told my wife McBush was thinking with his small head when he chose Palin, but I was just being crude & rude and never say it in public because I still had a thread of respect for McBush. Oh, I guess I just said it in public, didn't I? OOps..

When Bush was gov. of Texas and running for President I voted for him in order to get him out of Texas and it worked. Perhaps the same will happen to Palin.

i'm not sure mcC can make a decision. period. it would be interesting to know exactly how this happened.

i'd like to know how ms cindy fit in the scheme. with the alleged other women that he has 'known' and how timing in her relationship to him has been documented and reported...

it seems like she LIKES the media coverage of herself... does any one have info on this?
