Palin

The Anchorage Daily News is reporting that many of Palin's local colleagues, even Republican, were rather stunned by her being chosen as McCain's vice president.

State Senate President Lyda Green said she thought it was a joke when someone called her at 6 a.m. to give her the news.

"She's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president?" said Green, a Republican from Palin's hometown of Wasilla. "Look at what she's done to this state. What would she do to the nation?"

The next time you watch the video of her talking about being a Hockey Mom, just look at McBush behind her and what he's looking at and I don't mean the floor.

I thought it was just me, it does seem that he is looking at here speech or her ass but he kept staring hard and every few seconds. I mean why would he keep looking at her speech, what he wanted to make sure she said the right words or was saying dam she is hot. My cindy is old news i moved on.

So I wasn't just seeing things (I rewound the DVR just to be sure). I've also been watching the body language and facial expressions of these two when they interact; Palin looked like she wanted to puke when McCaineMutiny hugged her and kissed Palin on the cheek, like she was in the embrace of a lecherous old man she despised.

This is becoming a little too clinically fascinating to say the least, and this Palin creature is starting to look to this independent voter more and more like a character on the ShowTime sitcom WEEDS (and I don't mean the heroine).

Curiouser and curiouser...

The MCcain Campaign theme: Country First. Hmmm. But yet you chose a woman who accepted the nomination only because she was a woman and not the most qualified. He didn't choose her because he had a long working relationship with her and felt that he could trust the country in her hands. He didn't choose her because she brought anything major to the ticket. Alaska would probably have went Red anyway.

He chose her only because she is a woman and I'm insulted that she accepted this for that very reason.

America, they say Country First. What a joke, and insult to Americans.

It really is all about judgement. O was thinking of the country when he selected Biden. He knew that if someone needed to step into his shoes, Biden could deliver. He knew that Biden would challenge him when needed, and he knew Biden would work alongside him to change our country.

I'd have more respect for McCain if he had chosen Mitt Romney or Huckabee. They would have brought more experience and would be ready to lead if the need arose. This woman with 5 children, especially one with special needs, will not. I can assure you as a mother of 4, she will be distracted with trying to balance raising her family and seeing to the needs of this country. Someone will have to lose. More importantly, my first point; this choice does not put our country first.

Well, the internets are certainly on fire tonight with this tale of the baby not actually being hers.
Wow. I hope the Palin family realized the crapstorm they were letting themselves in for. I am afraid that whole family is about to roasted on a spit.
If there's any truth to the baby story it will be interesteing to watch how it plays out.

I wish most folks will let it go. The National Enquirer already picked it up. So . . . we would be better served focusing on the issues and her lack of experience.

I would agree, but Enquirer saw to it that Edwards was roasted, so let'em have at it. We can still talk the issues.

Heh. Kos has destroyed it's credibility with this. Kos is now the equivalent of the old Weekly World News. Remember all those alien baby stories?

This proves how nutty the left is. I really hope this gets more exposure.

The left is nutty? Johnny Mac picked a completely inexperienced woman, attempting to pander to Clinton's supporters and the hard right. What female supporter of Hillary in her right mind would be swayed by this ridiculous stunt? Palin's beliefs contradict Clinton's in many ways. You think Johnny Mac puts the nation above politics? Selecting Palin puts that notion to rest.

No, my friend, the right is nutty.

And the far right that is the GOP, the self-proclaimed "party of conservative Christian family values," are paragons of virtue and reason:

http://www.armchairsubversive.org

Yes, let us hope this tale gets more exposure if it is true. Trouble is, misgage, that your vaunted "Greedy Old Perverts" keep demonstrating that they think *hypocrisy* is a virtue.

And speaking of GOP women of curious repute, where IS Vicky Isemann these days? Did Marie Antoinette McCaineMutiny forget which chateau he stashed her in? Could that be why he chose Palin?

Curiouser and curiouser indeed this saga of Marie Antoinette McCaineMutiny and Ma Barker...

There are two pictures online...one shows Sarah Palin purportedly at seven months pregnant and there is no tummy anywhere and everyone will tell you after a woman has had several children she generally shows earlier rather than later. And then there is a family picture where Sarah Palin's oldest daughter has a clear belly bump. There is also a story about how Sarah Palin is in Texas speaking and concocts this story about her water breaking, but does she go to a Texas hospital, no she gives her speech (after her water has broken, and then takes a commercial flight home...a flight that has one stop before it reaches its destination. Once she arrives, she has another 45 minute drive to the small town she was born in Wasilla)and she goes to her doctor there. She show no distress or physical symptoms of a woman whose water and broken and who has gone into labor. Now these may be stories that are not true, but they are flying over the internet and being fed to the rest of the world by Alaskans who seem to have a real problem with there most popular Governor in the country as she is referred to byRepublican talking heads

Now an excerpt from a column by Mike Doogan.
*
John McCain looked all over the United States to find the single Republican who is qualified to be, as the saying goes, a heartbeat away from the presidency, and he came up with Sarah Palin.

Really?

Most Alaskans like Palin. I know I do.

But let's be honest here. Her resume is as thin as the meat in a vending machine sandwich. I'm thinking being mayor of Wasilla doesn't qualify her. And she's less than two years into her first term as governor. Except for her high-profile gas pipeline legislation -- which I like a lot -- she doesn't have much to show. Oil taxes? Most of that work was done by the legislature. Ethics? Ditto. And her role in killing the much-touted Bridge to Nowhere? Talk about coming in after the battle is over and bayoneting the wounded. Sarah Palin? Really? Debating foreign policy with Joe Biden? What's she going to do? Hit him with her briefing book? If Palin has two thoughts about foreign policy, she's managed to keep them to herself. Ditto health care. National energy policy. Fiscal policy. You could make a long, long list, but I'll stop there. She's going to need a lot of handlers feeding her a lot of talking points, and she's going to have to hope that the discussion only goes about yay-deep.

"You really have to have a high level of respect for Gov. Palin in the sense that she has this real ability to connect with people. And suddenly people don't think about health care, they don't think about the economy, they don't think about whatever else, education," said Halcro, a self-described wonk. "It's not about the policy. It's about the person."

So, basically, she lobotomizes people. This is what Dems have to watch out for because the average American voter already is, well, kinda simple. The very same people who struggle with voting for Obama because "they don't know much about him, what he stands for or what he believes in, where he comes from" will likely vote for McCain/Palin.

And you've just pointed out another reason why this decision was not rationale. It breaks the "I don't know Obama argument." People have less than 63 days to get to know this Palin.

Yet another show of poor judgement by McCain. Most repubs and Americans know the attack dog, Romeny and even Huckabee, and especially Fred Thompson. He could have introduced someone to the people that they already knew.

Hell. I'm a true Democrat, and even I'm mad for Republican voters! No one deserved this, especially not America and the world, if this team should get elected.

Jesus, is that Governor Palin or Jenna Jameson?

If her political career goes bust I guess she can pose for Playboy like Rita Jenrette did.

This decision makes me wonder about his "Maverick" status. Is he a Maverick because his ideas are not right in line with the rest of the Republican party, or is he considered a Maverick because he likes to have the power to make people mad, but still be forced to support him because of his power?

I think the latter. Republicans are putting on a happy face to demonstrate unity. But you know that they're boiling inside.

Compare and contrast the response to Biden and the response to Palin. When Biden was announced, several former and current Republicans congratulated him, with one current one going as far as to say that the choice was good for both Obama and America.

When Palin is announced, members of her own party, her own gender, and her own state come out to question the pick.

I just found it odd that everyone talked about the unity issue with the Dems, yet they seem to have so much better and cross-aisle responses to their recent actions in the last month while the Republicans have been in quite the opposite position. I don't know if that's foreshadowing for the GE and the general population or not. A recent poll shows that most folks like Obama's ideas, they just aren't real sure about him personally. I think if he finds a way to "reach" those people, the GE will be a landslide.

I've figured it out....JohnnyMc doesn't want to be POTUS. He is worn out and he knows it. In 2000 he was up to the task, but got a real beating from Bush and Rove. All he wanted this time was the nomination and then to ride off into the sunset with his wife and her millions of dollars.
He picked SP as his running mate because he was pulling even in the polls and needed to make sure Obama was the winner.
