The Anchorage Daily News is reporting that many of Palin's local colleagues, even Republican, were rather stunned by her being chosen as McCain's vice president.

State Senate President Lyda Green said she thought it was a joke when someone called her at 6 a.m. to give her the news.

"She's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president?" said Green, a Republican from Palin's hometown of Wasilla. "Look at what she's done to this state. What would she do to the nation?"

These same two Alaskan newspapers which reported about her lack of qualifications also reported about her child

So who knows if they are telling the truth or trying to grind an axe. Needless to say I am a bit cynical these days about any news reporting.

If you think Palin is more qualified than Obama you are either a paid repub operative or just plain stupid.

There I said it.

Impress me, let's see them pack a stadium with 80K excited as hell people. Send her to Berlin and let's see what happens.

Here's a different perspective on crowd size:

Lincoln spoke before 15,000 people at Gettysburg, most of whom weren't very enthusiastic. Crowd size is overrated.

B.O. has little experience compared to her. Strip away your bias and you'd have to agree. If B.O. was a staunch conservative with the experience he has, you'd be the first to call him inexperienced. Give it up. I'm afraid it's going to be another heartbreak for the libs. First Gore, then Kerry, next to lose by a hair is the messiah.

Let's review the facts: McCain before last Sunday had never even talked to Palin about the job. By Thursday night she was on a plane to Ohio. This isn't about experience - this is about McCain's pathetically bad, impulsive judgment. He say Hillary speak Tuesday night, Bill and Joe speak Wednesday night, and by Thursday night he was so scared of losing he called a political nobody (who has about 10 years less political experience, three years less education, and infinitely less life experience than Obama). All you have shown by defending the decision is that you would rather destroy the country than see your party lose an election. This isn't panic about Obama losing the election, this is outrage that your kind would make a mockery of government.

Palin's feud with Lyda Green may become national news as we find out that Palin is hardly a "compassionate conservative":

http://www.adn.com/opinion/comment/story/295464.html

Palin joins two talk show morons in calling Green, a cancer survivor, a "cancer on the state" while making fun of her weight.

I hope Obama makes Lyda Green an ambassador to something when he wins.

There is audio of this radio interview of Palin laughing at these awful comments. You can find it at YouTube if you perform a search there on "Palin laughs."

I tried to post the link two times and for some reason, even though I used no "bad words" it got blocked by the "bad words" filter. Since "bad words" are used in the audio in the form of name-calling, there must be a hidden descriptor in the link that is setting off the filter. Anyways, as I said, if you go to YouTube and search for "Palin laughs" you will find it.

Warning. It is very disturbing, in fact unlistenable to me, and I don't recommend it to anyone currently healing or who has lost someone to this disease. I post it here because these people want to run the country, and this gives a great deal of insight into both her character and the candidate who chose her.

At the end, the most shocking thing is Palin invites them to be her guests at the state of the state address by saying, "We'd be honored to have you." So it doesn't seem to be a matter of being polite.

I think those who are deriding Gov. Palin's inexperience for the presidency and on foreign policy are missing the point. She is not running for President, McCain and Obama are. Critics should be casting their vulture eyes more intensely at the presidentiables qualifications. Obama's national and international credentials are woefully short, and he is running on the top of the Dems ticket! The more Dem's complain about Palin's "under-qualifications" the more Obama's plight is highlighted.

On top of that, she has shown more courage, integrity, and reformer's zeal in her two years as Alaska's governor than all the other candidates combined, maybe including even McCain. This is what our government needs. It's too full of overqualified politicians who have no integrity. She has proven her integrity in standing up even against her own party elders. She is the proven Reformer, which Obama has only been so far claiming to be.

You may want to read the article before posting. That was a REPUBLICAN State Senator from the Alaskan Bible belt who said she ain't qualified.

Also, she supported the Bridge to Nowhere... before she was against it.
Was in an ad with Ted Stevens, ubercorrupt politico. The ad has now mysteriously disappeared from her Web site.
She's branded as a so-called "reformer," but won't stand up to the oil interests on drilling.
Has not followed the Iraq War news, by her own admission.

If that's a "Reformer," so you mean, "Reforming the country back into its same old shape"?

Whoops! The Vice President's qualifications DO matter. Don't forget, it God forbid anything happens to the president, your vice president immediately becomes Commander in Chief.
Recently there was a power crisis in Juneau. Ordinary people were advised that for a period of about three months their power costs would increase FIVE times. The hydro power line had been knocked out and it was necessary to go to generator. Governor Palin refused to declare the area a disaster,(Check the Juneau Empire newspaper.) What would you would do if your power bills immediately rose 500% during a cold part of the year in Alaska. Could you afford an extra $1,000 a month?
How about her special needs four-month old baby? I understand he's still nursing. Where will he be while she keeps up the frenetic pace for the next 66 days?
Most of all, don't allow her to ride on Hillary Clinton's coat tails. Hillary EARNED her status through years of hard work in the government, a passionate commitment to issues. Palin may earn that status in coming years, but she doesn't have it now.

Maybe you should read this before you talk about Palin's qualifications. Wasilla, where she was mayor for 11 years, is a one horse town. Population 5,000, with about 1900 homes. Worse yet, this scandal she's embroiled, appears to have legs. She's denying it, but she's definitely in deep.

I find the talking points of the liberals so funny (Conservatives are anti-gay). Being pro-life certainly does not make you anti-gay. I guess your simplistic minds do not allow you to think past what you have been hand fed by the media. My question is why do "pro-choice" (hahaha, what a term of denial) people feel as though they are true Women's Rights Activists. If women are so strong and independant than why is such a "laughable and idiotic" job such as being a mom such an unsurmountable burden. I think that the democratic party needs enlightenment. The democrats are showing their stripes everytime they bash Sarah Palin. It is reminiscent of how they attacked any woman linked to Bill Clinton. What supporters of Woman they have proven to be!

Please do not make blanket statements about a group of people (very prejudiced, and not very politically correct). For many young conservatives, the abortion issue is a determining factor. You obviously have a very narrow group of people that you associate with in order to generalize the way that you do. The democrats on this site are proving to be very sexist and judgemental. Why not scrutinize Obama's lack of experience. Why not comment on his attractive overall appearance but short resume. Do not let your differences in opinion on policy make you abandon your very tolerant and politically correct selves.

So being the gov. of a state of 670,000 for 18 months is good enough for you? That my dear is just scary. I propose all of the right wing nut jobs move to Alaska and leave the rest of us to live in the future and not the 1700's. I can only think of the laughing in the Kremlin about now and around the rest of the world for that matter. You know she got her first passport last year!!!

Give her full credit please, gov. of a state of 670,000 for 18 months who already had an ethics charge that is being investigated by the state Legislature and could lead to impeachment. Sadly, it sounds like she is well qualified for leadership in Washington for either party.
