Palin

The Anchorage Daily News is reporting that many of Palin's local colleagues, even Republican, were rather stunned by her being chosen as McCain's vice president.

State Senate President Lyda Green said she thought it was a joke when someone called her at 6 a.m. to give her the news.

"She's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president?" said Green, a Republican from Palin's hometown of Wasilla. "Look at what she's done to this state. What would she do to the nation?"

Dude, you should look up "projection". While you're at it, read up on confirmation bias and attribution error. The path to happiness lies in self improvement.

I dare say that Governor Palin is more real than former State Senator (for a few terms only) Barak Obama. You would think that Obama is the return of Christ. Wow...stop being so stupid.

"Among whom not a genuine person exists" ... that's some bipartisanship for you.

Dubba, you've already misread the headline, suggested that Palin will eat Biden, suggested that 50% of Americans are not people and generally made yourself look as foolish as your namesake. Why don't you step away from the computer and go polish your gun with a bible or something?

You see, this is the "attribution error" issue I talked about earlier. It's the tendency to ascribe to your adversaries only the worst traits and motivations, while claiming that those you agree with are the saintly ones.

Palin will have Biden's lunch. She isone tough, smart cookie. Her pick by McCain for vp has Obama/Biden squirming. This is going to be fun to watch it all unfold and play out.

I'm sure Biden will give her his lunch, to eat on the bus ride home.

McC has put this apparently wonderful person and her beautiful family in a position to be humiliated, for no reason other than his own cynical political gain.

He passed over many well-qualified and knowlegeable Republicans, including experienced women, to put a person who is obviously ignorant of the issues, the law, Congress, and the true challenges facing our nation.

Read what Alaskans have to say about it.

You are right about this being fun to watch. But I don't think it is going to be fun in the way that you imagine.

What is fun is watching your ilk trying to polish the t*urd that McCain has put on your plate.

Now that is hilarious!!!!

McCain would rather sacrifice the security of this country just to be president and put this ultra-rightwinger in office. Here is a man 72 years of age with 4 bouts of Cancer willing to place this woman in a position where on Jan 21 she might become president. What kind of judgment is this for his first major decision? Hell, even Charles Krauthammer called it political suicide.

For all those irate that Palin is being mislabeled a state senator, please work on your reading comprehension. The headline clearly states that the person saying she's unprepared is a GOP state senator, not that Palin is a GOP state senator. Wow, no wonder you people fall for all that conservative crap.

Is there nothing that the Republicans can do to shake some sense into the foggy brain of McCain? I am sure the party is highly incensed over the ridiculous selection of a bimbo who is not smart enough to know that she should have just said NO. Why cannot they just be big men and rebel?????? They have to be choking o their words that this is a brilliant choice!

I guess liberals tend to be reactive idiots. They sure base their comments all on emotion and not on fact. Feminism is only for the pro-choice (baby killing) few. I hate to break it to you, but Sarah Palin is far more relatable to the average American woman than Hillary Clinton. I find it so funny that the Democrats call themselves the party of the "people". What people? Oh that's right, the elitist and wealthy few. Hollywood is the prime example of who the democrats attract. Most of us women who are just trying to raise our children and get by financially on a modest income relate to a woman with the same "bourgeoious" background and values. The Huffington Post is the most unabashedly biased piece of " journalism" that I have come across.

What people? People like me...I'm a single mother of two...and I'm in no way an elitist or part of the wealthy few. I don't think the average American woman is out there hunting moose and fishing salmon while being ashamed their daughter had teenage sex - got preggers - so she had to cover it up and say the baby was hers....while also trying to avoid the fact she had someone fired because they wouldn't fire her brother in law. Get a grip!

I am a mother, two children, who works at home. I'm also trying to get by and raise my children. And the Bush administration is making it harder and harder by the day. So be careful when you say "most of us women." I think you may find yourself, and your views, outnumbered.

Hi virgmomof3--

According to the dictionary, "bourgeois" means "selfishly materialistic or conventionally respectable and unimaginative" (from the Oxford English Dictionary, which is the most highly-regarded English dictionary). The word "bourgeois" has connotations of wanting to maintain the economic situation and status quo just as it is. The word was used to describe people who look down on the poor (including those impoverished despite hard work, due to simple bad luck). It's not the best word to use for "trying to ...get by" financially. It describes Sarah Palin, though--who looks down on those who want real change, like equal pay for equal work. As long as she's getting hers, and can afford designer peep-toes and outsourcing the care of her 5 children, the rest of the world can go die.
I am pro-life, and *very* socially conservation on certain issues, but I don't want to shove my values onto someone else. I thought that Republicans prided themselves as the party of self-determination and keeping the government out of your business, but that myth has long since been debunked.
Didn't mean to write so much, but as one of four children whose Mom earned her doctorate and is a successful published author--I know the sacrifices it takes to have a career and four kids. But Mom was a Mom to us 4 kids, not someone who was always away. Also, the fact that Sarah Palin isn't behind equal pay for equal work infuriates me.

The bottom line is this: We don't really know who Barak Obama is. He is a smooth talker and sounds great. I suspect that Senator McCain is going to ask him some very clear questions that he will not be able to dance around. The comparison to John Fitzgerald Kennedy should be downplayed. It is now known that President Kennedy has alot of good ol fun in the White House. Read the 'Dark Side of Camelot' by none other than good ol Sy Hirsch. After all it is Sy Hirsch and his word is next to God's right Dumbos.

Agreed but you know what, the perverted thinking of Republicans is to show us all that we do not need government. So what do they do? They get the most incompetent people available to performs so horribly that they convince us who used to need government to think it is useless. See what Bush, Brown, Chertoff, Ridge, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and the rest did? Now comes McCain and Palin. It will only get worse, the proverbial last straw that broke the back of the horse.

Let's start being accurate.

Ignorance is not the same as inexperience.

Palin is a bright, engaging person, but she is ignorant of issues that Sen O has taken positions on.

Don't take my word for it, ask her.

Post her positions here.

A journalism degree from Idaho State, and a propensity not to be able to keep her legs closed.
