The AP reports on McCain and Palin hitting the trail in Pennsylvania:

McCain and Palin made a morning stop at Tom's Diner in Pittsburgh's trendy Southside neighborhood. The running mates, with spouses in tow, greeted patrons and posed for pictures. Palin's daughters Willow and Piper were also on hand, with Willow carrying Palin's 4-month old son, Trig.

The first-term Alaska governor told reporters she was having fun in her new role. "It's great to see another part of the country," she said. She also said she'd managed to get a little sleep during the night.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin ordered a mandatory evacuation of the city beginning 8 a.m. Sunday morning but urged residents to consider escaping "the mother of all storms" before then.

This woman lied to get onto a commerical airline endangering both herself, her unborn premature, disabled baby boy and everyone on the plain due to exposure to her bodily fluids as well as the potential for an emergency landing. All so she could have the baby in Alaska?! This woman shouldn't be making judgement calls for the rest of us when should holds her own children in such low esteem!

She obviously has good health care coverage. Let's hope she gives the same to her nanny - do you think she pays her nanny's social security?

Questioner: "Gov. Palin, what's your position on Nuclear proliferation?"

Gov. Palin: "You ask me how much money do i spend at the gas station, to much, to much i say, we have to drill now, drill here, and drill for Bin laden to the gates of HELL! I'm a reformer, i said yes... hum...no to the Bridge to nowhere, i love the people of the Pennsylvania republic. I God bless you and i God bless the United States of America."

And what CNN didn't say was that Palin stood there smiling and smiling as the crowd boo'ed Hillary. She should have taken a stand and said something about!
I hope all the PUMAs are happy now with their new 'woman' candidate!

aahhh they didn't boo Hillary (she wasn't there) they booed Palin - she invoked Hillary's name.

oh it gets better. how's this for unchristian - in january palin was on an alaskan radio show where she laughed like a little school girl when the DJ's criticized a rival of hers who survived cancer calling her a "cancer" and the b-word. the alaskan people didn't like it very much and neither should anyone with half a brain. she comes across as a mindless male-pleaser.

Try to imagine Cindy and McSame having Palin and her five children plus husband for an intimate dinner at one of their many homes.

Cindy and McSame don't seem like the kind that would enjoy young children unless they're in a factory they own.

(CNN) – Cindy McCain told an interviewer that she was "offended by Barack Obama" and other Democrats who have been hammering her husband John McCain for being unable to immediately answer a question about how many homes he owns.

"I'm offended by Barack Obama saying that about my husband," she told ABC News in an interview set to air Sunday. Asked if she thought Obama had gone too far in his criticism, she said "I do. I do. I really do."

McCain — whose net worth has been estimated at around $100 million — said her father was a self-made man. "My father had nothing. He and my mother sold everything they had to raise $10,000," she said. "I'm proud of what my dad and my mother did and what they built and left me. And I intend to carry their legacy as long as I can.

Let me put it this way, Obama should thank his lucky stars that McCain did not pick some one like K.B. Hutchinson, that would have caused a real problem.

That would of been a smart choice but McCain obviously isn't that smart. I did hear they despise each other so instead of putting the country first above his personal feelings he picked a woman he met only once before he invited her to Arizona to offer her the job.

Alaskans live in a state that's #1 in earmarks, where every third job is government dependent, and which has sucked on the taxpayers' teat more than any other state. Yet they always brag about being "individualists," "leave us alone," "we can take care of ourselves" types? Just lIke Wyoming, Utah, etc.
The ones who seem to decry big government the most are the ones who thrive on it.
But give a hot lunch to some poor kid in Chicago, and they're all "Socialism! Socialism!"
Republicans don't scare me anymore. They simply disgust me.

Hi Mike, don't tell me you were ever "scared" of these GOP goons. I have always seen them as scare-crows and empty hypocrites. I am only surprised folks are coming to terms with the average Republican mindset.

I always feel like vomiting whenever I meet any Republican and the start talking, especially on social issue and politics. You wonder if god was feeling sleepy or has a few drinks the day he gave the Republican a "soul".

It's sad that the personal stuff about her daughter and her youngest son comes in. I really wish our politicians can stay out of our bedrooms and we can stay out of theirs. It seems to me after MSM vetting process she might change her opinions on letting people live their lives according to their own personal situations.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:46 PM on 08/30/2008

if by "personal stuff about her daughter" you mean the rumor that the baby may BE her daughter's and not sarah's... TOTALLY on the table. not for daughter (allegedly) getting pregnant, and not for the CHOICE to have it instead of get an abortion, but for LYING about it.

it's the cover up, not the crime...

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:17 PM on 08/30/2008

I agree. She is using that baby to promote her image. I'm sure they will spin it some way to make the whole situation look like she is a hero for coming to rescue of her daughter. I wonder how the Evangelicals and Fox News would spin that one.

The problem with this story if true is it will make her look good, not bad. That's why we should take it off the table, act like adults and say it's her family business and none of ours.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:39 PM on 08/30/2008

Is it her baby, or the daughter's? I showed a picture of the family (about 4 months before the baby was born) to my wife and she immediately pointed out that the DAUGHTER was pregnant.

I love this woman. Mostly because she is a fresh face in Washington DC. Who cares that she is *only* the governor of Alaska (which doesn't have many people in it), the last I checked it was still a state.

People are treating Alaska as if it is some other country. So what there arent alot of people there, it is still part of the United States of America.

No, people are treating the less than 2 year governor of a 600,000 person state as she should be treated....unqualified to be one heart beat away from POTUS.

This has nothing to do with the fine state of Alaska, and everything to do with their novice governor who uses the word "cool" too much. And with 5 children, the youngest of which is FOUR months old, clearly has some prior commitments to deal with before she can offer herself in service of her country.

"(Political Animal) THE CRIME AND THE COVER-UP.... At her kickoff event in Ohio yesterday, Sarah Palin boasted about having rejected congressional funds for the infamous "bridge to nowhere." Soon after, we realized that Palin wasn't telling the truth about one of her signature issues, on her very first day as a candidate for national office.

Now, some might say this is excusable, because Palin's remarks were written by McCain campaign aides, and the McCain campaign barely knows who Palin is. That's probably true."

And probably pathetic.

I hope she had a good BM.
Isn't great that she is taking her 4 month old infant with downs syndrome on the planes, tours, etc. -- just the kind of "working mom" the evangelicals hate -- unless she is on the RNC ticket.

And she didn't tell her kids that she was being offered the VP position until the day of the announcement??? That is so disgusting! I thought Downs Syndrome babies were more fragile and susceptible to infections, etc. Is it really good to be taking her baby everywhere with her right now? Maybe the baby is a criticism shield, like McCain's POW status.
