Palin

People magazine scored one of the first interviews with McCain and his vice president pick Sarah Palin. In the interview they discussed Palin's resume, being a mom, her child's down syndrome and her message to woman. People also asked her about her readiness to be president:

Do you feel ready to be a heartbeat away from the presidency? SARAH: Absolutely. Yup, yup. Especially with a good team around us.

Palin's answers show me that she is not a very smart person and how the good people of Alaska could vote her in is beyond me. Her decison to jump on a plane while 8 months pg is also dumb. This woman is not ready to be VP. McCain you just tell me you lack judgement to be President in your selection of Palin as VP.

Where's the McCain's adopted child they pat themselves on the back so much for adopting. . and wonder how much it will cost taxpayers to haul that Palin family back and forth from Alaska and additional secret service detail - not to mention governmental health care they will receive --

Did anyone else think it was creepy the way McCain was checking her out, up and down, up and down, while she was talking? The surreptitious old man sideways eye. Would we have to put up with that for four years if they were elected? Is he going to be hugging on her whenever he can? I mean, in regular life ok, but not your VP.

She lives next door to Russia so that's meant to give her foreign policy experience.

I use gas in my car, I guess I'm Boone Pickens.

Have you negotiated agreements with any foreign government like she has with Russia over fishing? If so, I'm impressed with you.

replace "fishing" with "aggression in georgia" or perhaps "nuclear proliferation" and I'll be impressed. otherwise, the palin pick serves a narrow section of the GOP base, the one who helped put the. worst. president. ever. in office. twice. it does nothing for the country except threaten our safety and well-being, what little still remains, that is. it's a horrible, crass, short-sighted, self-serving, disgusting choice, made at the expense of the american people, and, ultimately, the world. utterly indefensible. "fishing?" are you serious? fishing. her "foreign policy" experience pertains to fishing. this is the level of thinking, the depth of thought mccain apologists are rising to. just awful

This is out right scary. I cannot imagine this woman ever being ready for any subject or issue relating to foreign affairs, let alone be a heartbeat from the Presidency.

it is acknowledged that one of the miriad reason a person can have a down syndrome baby is the advanced age of the mother when she became pregnant. perhaps miss alaska, if she doesn't believe in birth control should have kept her legs together after 40. working moms are great...but i wonder, on the off chance she becomes vp(LOL) with possible 12 hr days..in the big city....who will be watching this child? mr mom palin? the 17 yr old daughter?

I've never seen Democrats who want to run everyone else's lives. That USED to be a Republican thing. I guess the parties have flip flopped (along with their candidates). Didn't like the Republicans judging and sticking their noses into people's private lives and don't like the Democrats doing it. I guess O's vote for FISA should have been my first clue that the Democrats are into butting into every aspect of our private lives. No, thanks. Really, I, and I'm sure Palin, can make her own choices about sex, birth, and raising our children.

Perhaps if you get a life of your own, you won't be so worried about hers.

As an Independent I forsee a close win for Obama. Mainly because of the Bush-factor.......As far as Palin, yes she is controversial because of the experience.....But hey liberals, maybe now you'll realize just how little experience Obama has. Very little.

You Republicans outsmarted yourselves. You'll go down in flames with this one. I know she appeals to the more ignorant among you, but you're not supposed to pick VPs on the basis of their looks and perkiness. Oh yeah, you did that 8 years ago as well. We are sick and tired of you and want you and your ilk out of our lives, now! Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Slam!

Palin has no CREDENTIALS - forget "Experience."

Interesting how the GOP are twisting the 'experience' word & omitting the "Credentials" word.

She has no CREDENTIALS in dealing with:
* ethnic groups (there are none in Alaska)
* foreign policy
* national economics
* national border control
etc.

It will interesting to see if the media, in print & tv, spotlight on Palin's lack of credentials to be a heart beat away from a 72 year old President.

No ethnic groups in Alaska? Oh dear. I can't believe you said that.

Border control? Granted Alaska is not one the four states that border Mexico, but Alaska does border Canada and Russia. All of it's border is either foreign or maritime. It has no border with the rest of the US.

*Alaska has many different Native-American groups. Very sizeable. And a small but growing African-American group.

*Did a Gov. of Arkansas (Clinton) or Gov. of Georgia (Carter) have foreign-policy experience? Actually Alaska is in different Pacific-Rim Associations so they do have a limited dealings with other nations. Unlike a Arkansas or Georgia.

*More so then most other states. And she initiated a natural-gas project (very innovative) to make Alaskans self-sufficient in the future.

*Look at a map, have you seen how close Alaska is to Russia? And please, Alaska (and Hawaii) are the only states completely away from the rest of the US. So there is alot national border control experience.

proximity to another country counts for what? perhaps, if the unthinkable happens, and mccraven wins(god forbid), we can send the estimible v.p. palin to russia to negotiate terms of withdrawl from georgia! and by georgia, I mean the beseiged former soviet republic, not the state.

"143 days in the US Senate."

When you're brilliant, it doesn't take much.
But look at just a sample of what he's done in that time.

What has your candidate accomplished in the same period? Do tell us.

And you conveniently leave out 8 years in the State Senate.
