Palin

Politico:

The selection of a running mate is among the most consequential, most defining decisions a presidential nominee can make. John McCain's pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says a lot about his decison-making -- and some of it is downright breathtaking.

We knew McCain is a politician who relishes improvisation, and likes to go with his gut. But it is remarkable that someone who has repeatedly emphasized experience in this campaign named an inexperienced governor he barely knew to be his No. 2. Whatever you think of the pick, here are six things it tells us about McCain:

What is says about McCain is that he is likely to do anything out of the ordinary at any time.

This may be OK if you're Mike Martz trying to jump-start the Forty Niner offense. But it can be hardly reassuring to those in the world we must do business with and citizens at home trying to bring a little bit of stability and predictability to their lives.

Each candidate made what they both say is the biggest decision each will make before the elections - the selection of a VP candidate.

Barack Obama chose Joe Biden.

John McCain chose Sarah Palin.

Ask yourself - heart of hearts - who made the wisest decision.

#7. He is tired of wife #2 (who he called the 'c' word) and he's thinking with his d/ck.

He stood closer to Palin when they first appeared together than when he stands with his wife. Even notice Cindy ALWAYS walks a couple of steps behind him and they NEVER touch in their public appearances. A really close couple.

Not a lot of warmth between them, downright frosty.

This woman lied to get onto a commerical airline endangering both herself, her unborn premature, disabled baby boy and everyone on the plain due to exposure to her bodily fluids as well as the potential for an emergency landing. All so she could have the baby in Alaska?! This woman shouldn't be making judgement calls for the rest of us when should holds her own children in such low esteem!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:17 PM on 08/30/2008

That is a good point. It demonstrates poor judgement.

Could also demonstrate that she was not pregnant, and had to get home where her daughter was starting labor.. After all, it's hard to have a baby in Alaska, particularly if you're in Texas! !

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:56 PM on 08/30/2008

Absolutely. I don't know if it's true if her water broke or not, but if you have labor pains, regardless of your water breaking, you should not board a plane. That's a lot to put your baby through, not to mention others. This being her 5th, she was sure to have a short labor.

She knew well ahead of delivery, that the baby had Down's syndrome, and I applaud her for wanting to still have the baby, but that was not proper judgement. She was putting the job in AK or something else ahead of this baby's welfare. How premature was the poor little guy? Was she afraid she would have to leave him in Texas? If so, why is not afraid to leave him and the others behind, to handle national duties?

A lot of this doesn't make sense.

Choosing a VP is like arranging a marriage.

He's made a decision based on hardly any information.

Good 'ole gut feeling.

Or the last person he spoke to suggested Palin.

I can just see all the Republicans furiousy rewriting their speeches so as to not accidently make the case against McCain.

He is arrogant, brookes no dissent, and now operates from his gut feelings in an impulsive manner.

Sounds dangerously familiar....

McGimmick is so weak as a candidate he had to find the Weakest Republican out there JUST to make him look strong.

How Pathetic!

McCain says she's ready to be President. This is the same McCain who said the Shura market was safe when he had on a flak jacket, surrounded by 100 armed-to-the-teeth GIs and 4 attack helicopters. This is the same McCain who said the surge worked when Ahmadinejad was treated as a loved hero by huge crowds in Baghdad during the surge while US officials (including McCain) have to sneak into a fortified zone in Baghdad with an armed-to-the-teeth escort more than 1 year after the "successful" surge commenced and while the US must still pay upwards of $10 billion per month while Iraq has a $79 billion surplus.

Old class rank 894 of 899 at war college at Annapolis McCain, in addition to being arguably the stupidest graduate ever of any US war college, is also a bald faced outright prevaricator, liar and disreputable, human being. With those traits, it is clear he will simply be a third term of the current stupid, bald faced outright prevaricator, liar and disruptuable human being in the White House.

Palin is ready but Obama is not??? That's beyond lying -- that's proof every moment of McCain's life now is a senior moment and that he's unqualified to be President because of his stupidity, dishonesty and inability to comprehend reality. This guy needs a full psychiatric examination, performed by a neutral, qualified psychiatrist and the results must be made public, as he's running for President.

No. 7: It also says McCain is controlling and insecure because doesn't want anyone in the VP challenging his decisions or offering alternative scenarios

If we wanted spontaneity ,coupled with impulsiveness, wouldn't this merit consideration of every teenager in America as POTUS!? McCain is still demonstrating his younger rebellious stage despite the fact that he is now 72. Spontaneity, impulsiveness, rebellion, not terribly bright with a trigger happy temperament aren't exactly the qualifications I sought in a president.

BECAUSE HE WAS NOMINATED BY A PROCESS THAT INVOLVED NEARLY FORTY MILLION DEMOCRATS, NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU DISCOUNT HIS EXPERIENCE, HAVING COME THROUGH THE PROCESS HE NOW STANDS TOE-TO-TOE WITH JOHN MCCAIN FOR THE MOST IMPORTANT JOB IN THE WORLD. AND, WHILE HE STILL MAY SEEM RISKY AND UNKNOWN TO YOU, ...REPUBLICANS WILL TRY AND FAIL TO CONVINCE AMERICA THAT SEN.OBAMA AND SEN. BIDEN HAVE NO EXPERIENCE (40 YEARS COMBINED IN THE SENATE), .... SAYING THAT GOV. PALIN IS BEST SUITED AMONG ALL TO TAKE OVER IF MCCAIN IS INCAPACITATED, IS HARDER TO SWALLOW THAN REPUBLICANS SUDDENLY CALLING FOR REFORM.

REFORM WILL COME TO REPUBLICANS WHEN THEY ARE RETIRED FROM ELECTIVE OFFICE THIS NOVEMBER.

any time you start to feel sorry for her, rememeber that she didn't have to accept. She should know that she is totally unqualified and she deserves what she gets.

I've been reading that Palin is a dominionist. She is also a Pentocostal, in the Assembly of God Church. I'm wondering if she's in the same groups as Pastor Hagee or Rod Parsley. If she's advocating World War III, so Jesus can come back and throw the Jews into the Pits of Hell (like Hagee and Parsley believe), I would greatly fear her becoming VP. I was upset that McCain was endorsing Hagee and Parsley, so it would be an upset to most people if she is also endorsing Hagee and Parsley.

When asked why he selected a VP who has absolutely no foreign policy or national security credentials, Mc,Cain responded succinctly: "I was a POW".

"In the midst of two wars, with Iran threatening to acquire nuclear weapons and Russia invading the sovereign nation of George, I believe with every fiber of my being that electing someone who does not have the proper breath and depth of national security experience is nothing less than reckless and dangerous....what's that? S,arah P,alin has no national security experience? None whatsoever?.....................................................................................Nevermind."
