Fiorina

The Hill:

John McCain senior advisor Carly Fiorina dismissed suggestions Sunday that women supporters of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (R-N.Y.) will turn away from Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) because of her anti-abortion rights views.

"The Democratic party has done a disservice to women by trying to hold women hostage to the issue of Roe v. Wade," Fiorina said on CBS's Face the Nation. "The truth is the most important issue to women, all the polls say this, is the economy. Women are not single issue voters."

McCain's choice of Palin as his vice presidential candidate electrified conservatives who like her views on abortion. Sen. McCain (R-Ariz.) also hopes choosing the first woman to appear on a GOP ticket will attract women voters, but Democrats have insisted Palin's views on abortion will keep Clinton supporters in the Democratic column.

I wanted to throw a shoe at the TV screen when Carly said this. Up is down and down is up through her eyes.

Before Roe V. Wade abortions were performed in this country. They were illegal and unsafe, but they were performed. If you care about women's health you cannont turn back the clock and once again force women to risk their lives. Women died. Women and young girls beld to death. They died of infection (sepsis), they were left infertile. The rich will always take care of their own. They have the money to pay a doctor or nurse to perform an abortion on THEIR daughter/wife/sister. Or they can, as they used to do, send their child overseas on a "tour of Europe".

Here is a simple answer to the abortion issue: If you don't believe in them, don't have one. No one is going to hold a gun to your head.

I'm less pro-choice as I am pro-free will.

I hope we have seen the last of single issue voters; but it seems to me that the Republican party have been slaves to the one issue party. Whether it is women's rights, civil rights, gay rights... the only right we are supposed to be interested in is the "right" of worshiping God. Oh, but that has to fit their idea of God, their ideas of what is moral and what is not and their say of what God wants us to do.

Carly is so reactionary she must be constantly tripping on heels.

I disagree, I believe Grover Norquist, that the Republicans are out to strangle government and leave us all subject to the FREE Market Speculators and Monopolists....think about privatizing Social Security and Medicare, that is the big Kahuna... and you can believe that they are slathering over the profits from both of those systems while they totally screw the working class.

Isn't that sweet? Fiorina, her pal Aerial-Slaughter-Suzy, and their goulish party would set forth their agenda of keeping ALL of us women barefoot, continually pregnant, in the kitchen baking bread, raising the Country's population so high that we'd HAVE to move to the moon so we could detroy THAT orb and over-populate it as well! Not to mention, that they will remove free, GOOD education from our citizens as well as ALL forms of women's health care, not just safe abortions and birth control!!!

Next on their agenda would be to revoke a woman's right to vote.

Face it, we're a fateful breath away from China demanding repayment on our war loans so they can invade US and turn America into a TRUE 3rd world, police-state land. I, for one, will fight to my death to prevent this nightmare from EVER happening!!! It is EVERY American's right to LIVE FREE, just not the "supreme beings" of the far-right wingnuts G0P!!! Fiorina & Moose-Eatin-Muffy will eradicate EVERY right women currently possess and set us back to the Dark Ages...LITERALLY!

I have to agree with you about the China situation... But these republicans will not stay around unless they are in power... They will move to either the 3rd world to rule with the dictators / rich classes and go to Europe for vacations and HealthCare.

as with the rest of the mccain campaign, carla is projecting. republicans have been holding their base hostage for decades now. they don't have ideas when it comes to job creation, improving education, or making healthcare more affordable, so they use fear to drive a wedge between their bases best interests and their moral fears. women should understand abortion isn't a political issue. it is a personal issue.

Carly Fiorina broke the glass ceiling at HP and then performed horribly, making it that much harder for the rest of us women.

She is not a spokesman for women.

Yes, let's talk about the economy. Let's talk about the issues.

Here are my choices:

McCain: periwig pated old white men make decisions for women. Joblessness and slow economic growth. Thousands of lives lost fighting wars. World War III. Recession becomes a depression. Global warming accelerates. Continued dumbing down of America. Science is a myth. Yukka Mtn. becomes radioactive. USA in foreclosure on China debt.

Obama: Preserve women's rights, and stop giving tax breaks to big Corp and the wealthy - use that money and the money saved by ending a war responsibly to beef up the middle class, pay off debts, and reduce the deficit. Much needed funding for education. A new green economy. Penalties for sending jobs overseas.

Hmm....

Funny, but conservative women, espescially the religious ones are single issue; anti-abortion

Over everything else. My sister believes that. Nothing else matters, poor as she is, as long as there is a semblance of anti-abortion in the platform she will vote repug anyday. Nothing, nothing else matters.

Take that, Fiona, and, btw, destroyed any other corporations lately???

Oh, certainly much better to hold women hostage on the other side of the abortion rights issue where women can be forced to have children they can't care for because they're being held hostage by the Republican economy! Brilliant, Carly!

If GOP women were concerned with the economy or the war why did they pick bush twice? ask her this! and now they are picking McCain because he has a anti-abortion vp....

they are trying their hardest to change this......WE WILL NOT LET THEM...Obama does not run his platform on Abortion or Gay rights..he runs it on the economyand the war...the 2 main problems witht he country!

and as a woman who is pro-choice, if Obama had been anti-abortion I STILL WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR OBAMA! We need better in this country! BETTER...I am more worried about the economy and the war than I am about having an abortion!.........this arguement is so flawed.....

As a women I do not want the government telling me what I can do with my body. How can men understand. To think having the government tell me that I cannot abort a child created as even a result of being raped by a stranger or even a family member. How can you ask anyone to live with that? So no, I do not feel Dems hold women to abortion. Repugs hold everyone to family values that they themselves do not follow. They also hold Repugs to religion but yet they will pray for "torrential" as Senator Obama gives his speech with 75,000 people present where harm could have come to them if this prayer was answered. Repugs hate AMERICA and they hate AMERICANS that's my new slogan.

Dear Carly:

Palin is opposed to all forms of birth control.

She is also opposed to abortion under any circumstances.

As a professional woman how do you feel about that? Are you willing to walk that walk?
