The Hill:

John McCain senior advisor Carly Fiorina dismissed suggestions Sunday that women supporters of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (R-N.Y.) will turn away from Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) because of her anti-abortion rights views.

"The Democratic party has done a disservice to women by trying to hold women hostage to the issue of Roe v. Wade," Fiorina said on CBS's Face the Nation. "The truth is the most important issue to women, all the polls say this, is the economy. Women are not single issue voters."

McCain's choice of Palin as his vice presidential candidate electrified conservatives who like her views on abortion. Sen. McCain (R-Ariz.) also hopes choosing the first woman to appear on a GOP ticket will attract women voters, but Democrats have insisted Palin's views on abortion will keep Clinton supporters in the Democratic column.

The right to choose:

a) to carry a fetus to term after conception has been determined.

b) to decide against a.

Roe v. Wade upholds the definition of choice, which is fair when
compared to 'my way or the highway'.

I thought she might be working at Apple. The way their products work I just assumed she was now at the helm.

Carly is right that women vote on more than one issue.....but her same comment can be turned around..........Is the right wing of the republican Party holding women hostage to abortion? I recall hearing many of the right wing saying that Obama's support of abortion is a deal breaker for them, even though they support affordable health care, poverty eradication and education reform.

The economy is foremost in the minds of many Americans who are suffering from the Bush recession.

Sarah Palin left a tiny town 20 million in debt. McCain claims he doesn't know much about economics.

These two will not help.

I hope that at some point, someone is able to ask Carly (former CEO of HP and all that) what her PERSONAL position is on teaching creationism in public schools. Does she think that enhances our global competitiveness?

Carly Fiorina of HP fame?

On 9 February 2005, Carly Fiorina was dismissed as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Hewlett-Packard.

I guess it's true that Republicans really do believe in recycling. Especially when it's one of their own bankrupt policies.

While I disagree with Palin on the right to choose and many other issues, what really freaks me out about her is her complete lack of knowledge, experience, and interest in national and international affairs.

What a moronic statement for Fiorina to make.

The last time I checked, qualified voters are free to vote for any candidate. If women chose to vote according to a pro-choice platform, it is because they want to. If you want to vote pro-life, go ahead.

What a stupid non-issue.

I loathe the republicans. In their world they are free to tell you what you can do inside your own body. It is ironic they run on less government when the government they propose begins in the womb.

Carly Fiorina has set back women's chances in the fortune 500 boardrooms at least a decade. She was a total failure at HP and was fired by the Board Of Directors.

Carly, no one is saying women are single issue voters. But, this is an issue that is important to women. It is an issue that means something very different to women than it does to men. Women are affected by laws that govern a woman's right to choose much more personally than are men. And I do think that women, whether they are for or against abortion, largely think that the choice should be up to them, and not the country or the states. And women are going to learn through the course of the next two months that several seats on the Supreme Court are going to become vacant during the next presidential term, making way for new judges to be appointed who will shape the future of a woman's right to choose, or not. And yes, the economy is a very important issue right now, but the fate of Roe vs. Wade will have longer, more far-reaching effects on the future of our nation.

Lets think about this
Republicans anti-choice, anti-child support, anti-child health care, anti-pay equity for women..

Tell me one reason to vote republican, it is so insulting and demeaning of them to be so single issue when the fact of the matter is that we are all anti-abortion....After all, men need to think about allowing their bodies to be invaded to do a colonoscopy let alone an abortion... They would be as responsible about using birth control as all of us women are.... We need to put a stake thru the republican Myth Machine...Nobody talks about the miscarriages and child mortality....

I agree. And I'm done with this victim thinking.
I'm done with Roe Vs. Wade thinking.

I am done with the sexism, that I now see spewing from the Democratic left.

Frankly, I'm done with the left entirely.

You cannot claim to be progressive thinkers while bashing that a woman is pretty.

Let me repeat.

You cannot convince ANYONE that you're anything but a sexist when you pull that crapola.

"while bashing that a woman is pretty"

No we are bashing the idea that being pretty is a qualifier for the presidency.

(She's not that pretty. Not even in her young pictures. But it's irrelevant.)

Not really, Carly. There are many reasons to dismiss Sarah Palin.

Palin is opposed to all forms of birth control.

That is more disturbing that her opposition to abortion.

Her allegiance to Big Oil above everything is a deal breaker too.

These republican are operating in a parallel universe. Republican do NOT believe in civil rights, equal pay for women, help the poor, equal money for all public schools; yeah Democrats hold women to abortion.
