I Like ItI Don’t Like It

John McCain appeared on Fox News Sunday, with Chris Wallace, this morning. Wallace asked McCain if he could honestly say that Sarah Palin was the best person to put a heartbeat away from the presidency. McCain replied, "Oh, yeah. She's a partner and a soulmate." The remark is astonishing considering he had met Palin only once before he selected her as his vice presidential running mate.

Here are some of what the talking heads are saying:

Thompson: "She's a mother of five children. ... And she has more experience than Barack Obama."

"She has experience not only in politics but in life," former Republican Sen. Fred Thompson of Tennessee said Sunday on CNN.

Sen. Lindsay Graham of South Carolina: "Governor Palin took on Ted Stevens. If she can take him on, she can take on the Russians."

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty: "Palin is commander-in-chief of the Alaskan National Guard."

"Alaska is the closest part of our continent to Russia. So, it's not as if she doesn't understand what's at stake here." Cindy McCain.

"If they want to go down that route, in all candor, she has far more experience than Senator Obama does," McCain said Sunday in St. Louis.

Now this is what I say to Senator McCain: and i don't mean to rude here.

In case you have forgotten Senator, Senator Obama contested in hard fought primary with some of your so called "experienced" and seasoned colleague and beat them including Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, ex-president of the U.S.A and the first lady respectively -- In the longest running primary in history.

And, just so you know, if you had contested with him in the primary, you will be history by now. Or better still be campaigning to be his running mate.

Gov. Sarah Palin with all due respect doesn't compare to Senator Obama.

She will NOT make it to November. What does it say when you leave your newborn to run for VP? Sarah Plain....Country First, Family Second..

Why isn't it she a good pick? She has way more executive experience than Obama (who has none). After all, she is the Cief Executive of a State. Obama has spent 143 days in the Senate and has never accomplished anything in his political career except votong 'present'. Sarah Palin has a list of accomplishments that Obama could only wish for. She's a dynamo and a great pick. I've been researching her for months and she has it all

She has infinitely more foreign polocy experience that John Edwards had four years ago, and I NEVER remember such an issue even being raised before about any VP. Plus, the Dem Presidential candidate has no experience of any type, foreign or otherwise.

Typical lib double-standard.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:56 AM on 09/01/2008

What foreign policy experience does she have? Just because she lives 55-60 miles from Russia does not count. Dont try the National Guard because Bush federalized those with the Iraq war. Have the t r o l l s got stranded at the NASCAR race in California without gas money to go home.

It was John McCain that made foreign policy experience the issue. It's all he's talked about regarding Obama.
So, if you can follow this..............it's the double standard of McCain that's at play here.
Obama MUST have foreign policy experience.........but not the person who will a heartbeat away from the presidency as VP to a 72 year old man with skin cancer, medical records that haven't been released........and according to medicare stats has a 15% chance of not living through his term in office.

Pizza Boy, the legislative session in Alaska is only 35 days a year. Using your fuzzy math, she has only 70 days in session. Where do you guys keep parroting 143 days in the Senate. He has been in office since January 2005 in the US Senate. Really, some of you guys need to take a class in math. I guess the 8 years in the Illnois State Senate does not count for anything. The only research you have done is photo research.

During Senator Obama's first 8 eight months of elected service he sponsored over 820 bills.
He introduced 233 bills regarding healthcare reform, 125 bills on poverty and public assistance, 112 bills on crime fighting, 97 economic bills, 60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills, 21 ethics reform bills, 15 gun control, 6 veterans affairs and many others. In his first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. And these are all things that are relevant for our whole nation. Not just one small state. Over the last 20 months he has run a presidential campaign to raise more money and attract larger crowds than any other candidate in history. And he won. He is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School. Is considered a Constitutional law scholar and was elected president of the Harvard law review. Yet the media and the right wing have failed to report and acknowlege these things so they can continue the failed argument about his so called lack of experience as a former community organizer and 7 years in the Illinois Senate. I agree---we should not question Gov. Palin's experience. It all stands for itself. PTA, City Council, Mayor (pop.6000), and Gov. of Alaska for 19 mo. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and worked part-time as a sports reporter and runner-up in a beauty pageant. She also has life experience.

Please, get your head out of the sand. Personally, I'm tired of hearing that Sen. O.b.ama has accomplish nothing. He has been a leader that exemplifies do as I do rather than do as I say. Ex: When facing the crisis of Katrina three years ago instead of eating cake and just spewing a dialog of what I would do, he actually did. He actually introduced and help pass policies that are being used today in dealing with Gustav. He actually went to the area and rolled up his sleeves and helped with reconstrution, and yes this was before he decided to run for president as opposed to being a photo opt. He is a strong fighter for the rights of veterans and he taken time to visit them and understand their needs and their families needs rather than constantly sprouting I'm a P OW. He is putting country first rather than ambition which I can't say holds true for either Mcc or S.arah P.alin.

Compelled to join the blogosphere: When I heard that McCain had asked a young woman governor, with 5 children, the last of whom is a newly born baby with down syndrome, to be his new running mate. I must ask the all important, "Emperor With No Clothes On" question:

What wisdom and sound judgment leads a mother of a newborn baby with down syndrome to say "yes" to the life altering job as VP of the U.S.? Down syndrome children have special needs that other children do not. Does McCain, or anyone really believe that she can shoulder the incalculable needs of our Country at this critical time, in addition to the known and unknown needs that her special child has?

Charity begins at home, and now her family needs her more than anyone else does. What core family values tells her to sacrifice a special needs family in exchange for the fleeting glory of saving her political party? She has witlessly reordered her parental and political priorities in the poorest exercise of judgment by a wife and mother that I can think of!

America is in difficult straits! We need someone who can provide laser beam focus on special challenges, many of which we never faced before. I don't believe that any mother with newborn children should take focus off of her family's special needs at this critical time. Therefore, I do not think that she can be an effective second in command of our nation.

Superbus blew a gasket last night when I posted this:

What I find unbelievable is that she got on an 11 hour flight after her water broke, knowing she was going to deliver a high-risk baby one month prematurely, goes up 30-40K feet where the air is thinner, and then drives to some tiny clinic instead of a hospital with a baby ICU -talk about poor judgment!

Babs, superbus is of the short bus brigade.

She knew way in advance she would be in her last trimester. Why did she accept the speech knowing full well it is not advisable to fly that late during a high risk pregnancy? And didn't tell the flight attendants she was pregnant (apparently they couldn't tell she was 8 months pregnant).

Totally irresponsible.

That is all true - but she's hardy, right?

The USUAL precautions aren't meant for the likes of HER, right?

Maybe she was hoping "SOMETHING" bad would happen to her Down's Syndrome baby - after all - he IS an inconvenience to her ambitions . . .

I totally agree. Presently this shows poor judgment by both Mcc and S.arah P.alin. IMO, their personal ambition outweighs everything else. I'm personally skeptical of anyone in leadership that are unable to project beyond a limited scope of possibilities of what might happen. How can Mcc tout "Country First" when he has forgotten about the state this country is in and prioritized winning this election at all cost over national and international security. This country has suffered enough under one issue agendas (oil) and wedge issues ( guns, pro-life/prochoice).

The reps will try and justify her running for VP with a special needs child as a character of strength and a shared responsibility with the father while disavowing the reality of the situation. Divorce rate is high among those under 45 in normal relationships. I'm not saying that the rate is any higher for couples with a child with special needs, but the reality is that the stress level is higher in maintaining a relationship and tending to the needs of a child with special needs along with other children. Also there is the added factor of being concerned about a child who will be going to war. How focused will she really be on the issues facing this country when she has yet to be tested on how she will handle her personal life?

He may have already talked her into being his No. 3! That's in - No. 3 Wife - not a No. 3 POSITION!

the who to vote for decision is simple either you want the same old crap for 4 years or take a chance and vote for a possible shakeup, the last eight years sucked so why not take a chance on change, something might happen.

The man thinks with his pants. And has anyone else noticed how on most of their appearances so far, they have had to drag their partners into frame for every click of the camera (or their children), just so they don't get too closely cropped as the wrong kind of soulmates.

Oh, they so frighten me. Mostly because there are enough stupid people in this country of voting age that they could win. We are doomed.

I'm okay. I live and raise my family abroad. If they are elected, I expect my guest room and couch may be permenently occupied by fleeing expats.
