Think Progress:

In a recent BusinessWeek interview, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) admitted that she believes the Iraq war was fought because of oil:

We are a nation at war and in many [ways] the reasons for war are fights over energy sources, which is nonsensical when you consider that domestically we have the supplies ready to go.

The passage of oil from Iraq to Israel through already existing infrastructure could "transform Haifa into a new Rotterdam," said Paritsky
“It won’t be long when you will see Iraqi oil flowing to Haifa,” the port city in northern Israel, Netanyahu told a group of British investors, declining to give a timetable. For unspecified reasons that are now becoming much clearer, Bush, Blair and Howard demanded that the best special forces in the western world should defend a line running from H3 in the south, to Mosul in the north. By an odd coincidence perhaps, this is the exact route of “Israel’s” Mosul to Haifa pipeline. Proof that this initial Israeli objective of securing the pipeline as far north as Mosul had been achieved, was inadvertently provided by Jane’s Defence Weekly on 3 April 2003.

this is a must read on the facts of oil, the invasion and for Israel.

So what does she think about sending a son to fight in an "unnecessary" war?

She's on the right track, but the war is not for oil alone, it's for oil for Israel. Her son is going to fight for oil and security for Israel. Iraq has just signed a big oil deal with the Chinese as well. Thanks, Sam!

Palin's statement that Iraq is a war for oil seems to be a ploy by the McCain people to distance themselves from the Bush administration. This is an attempt, in other words, convince the American people that McCain is not Bush and, more importantly, that McCain is ready to tell some truths about the Bush administration to create the appearance that he opposes Bush's policies. If this effort is successful, he will have a good chance to defeat Obama as Obama's primary weakness in a racist country is, in fact, his race. So even as McCain continues to create distance between himself and Bush, he will simultaneously make every possible effort to activate the underlying race hatred and fear existent in the unconscious selves of most Euro-Americans. To do this, Ronald Reagan used rhetoric like "Welfare Queen," Bush Sr. brought the unfortunate story of Willie Horton to the media fore, and Hillary suggested Obama could not win because he could not garner the blue collar white vote. Hillary nearly succeeded, and of course, Bush Sr. was 17 points behind Michael Dukakis when he presented to the American people the story of Willie Horton, a black man, on furlough from a Massachusetts prison, who had raped a white woman. After Willie Horton's picture and story appeared in the media over several days, the Dukakis lead began to suddenly evaporate. This is why Obama talks about fear, but it's fear related to race and racial hatred.

" . . . the reasons for war are fights over energy sources, which is nonsensical when you consider that domestically we have the supplies ready to go."

This from a woman who was picked because of her "expertise" on energy matters.

Oil, sure, but the Iraq War is really about war profiteering, i.e., every bomb that explodes needs to be replaced, every tank-plane-rpg that is disabled or destroyed has to be replaced, every bullet fired starts up the assembly line.....during war, this endless cycle of destruction and production means profits for the War Corporations.

OK. that proves it.

Palin just told the truth about this war, and that disqualifies her to run for anything as a republican!!!

Period.

SHE TOLD THE TRUTH. She is therefore not qualified.

Yeah GOP corruption and incompetence is pretty obvious, we agree. You think they would try to be a little less overt and clumsy in their bumbling attempt to wage class warfare and line their own pockets

Mrs. Palin I thank you for your honesty, though your handlers may want a word.

Of course she bloody knows the war is about oil, she is an Alaskan, and if there's one thing they know about its fighting over oil. The important thing here is that you see she is so stupid she will run her mouth and say things that she shouldn't... for the first time in a very long time I feel sorry for the Republicans.
