Think Progress:

In a recent BusinessWeek interview, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) admitted that she believes the Iraq war was fought because of oil:

We are a nation at war and in many [ways] the reasons for war are fights over energy sources, which is nonsensical when you consider that domestically we have the supplies ready to go.

EVERYTHING we do in the Middle East is about oil. We aren't involved in the region because of the friendly peaceful people and our love of sand.

OK,,, but why is she only focusing on OIL?

My GOSH,, why not Solar???

LOOK,, the only streetlights ON in Baghdad are SOLAR,,, Thousands of them!!!!! Solar streetlights that are stopping the Insurgents. Why can’t Sarah support Solar power in America????

Solar is wining the war and keeping our Troops and the Iraqi people safe. My gawd,, where is this woman’s MIND? We need to seek energy independence for America not more wars for oil?

Sorry, I do not agree with Sarah Palin.

Wars for oil are wrong.

All the best

We could have achieved energy independence with the same amount of money as was wasted in Iraq. More jobs and less dead and wounded American kids, too. But nobody gets rich off solar, so forget it, as the corrupt GOPers say

She was correct, if there were no oil in Iraq or the Middle East we wouldn't have invaded. This is a surprise to some? Of course the US spends it's efforts and money where we have the most important national interests.

you need to roll over there and join the fight for oil.

if this women is right .why didnt we hear all this from mcain.and bush.you mean the whole concept of iaqi freedom and all the loss of life was just for oil money?my son died for the oil in this nation and not to liberate the iraqi people or tocreat a democrasy in the middle east.it was to insure the wealth of folks who are already wealthy.shameful loos of these brave young people who wear the uniform of the united states.shame on you george bush.

I'm sorry for your loss Big Larry. George Bush and Dick Cheney should have been impeached for their lies and crimes that led us into this disastrous war. I know that wouldn't bring back your lost one but it would hopefully serve notice to the next president who wants to start a war for profit that it just isn't acceptable to the American people.

More democracy and stability in the Middle East is in the best interests of all US citizens.

Here's the problem. Let's remove the ethics question for now (you know dominated another country because they have oil). This war was about oil but not about national interest. The vast majority of Americans will not benefit from this war. Yes, a war for oil, but a war where only a tiny minority of Americans benefit. Also, the people who are fighting the war and the people whose sons and daughter are fighting the war will not benefit. Now, let's consider the morality of attacking a weak country for our own reasons and add to that that is was for a tiny minority of Americans----pretty dark days for America in terms of what we are as a country.

Sarah Palin's "Big Oil" record. Too bad ladies, you liberals have it all wrong.

Drill here, drill now is not an answer for our dependence on oil. It totally misses the point

I am horrified that a mother would let her son go to a war for oil, knowingly. I have serious questions about what type of mother this person really is for a number of reasons. This is only the first. Second is the story that when she had her last baby, her water broke and she stayed at an event and waited to give a speech. She did not think that childs health and life were more important than herself either. Third is that her children do not have normal names. It's like they are treated as second thoughts or jokes.
As a mom, I think some serious checking needs to be done into just how these children are and have been raised.

The liberal ladies' claws are showing and it ain't pretty. So much petty jealousy because it takes a conservative woman to be qualified to be a VP pick.

Oh, the horror. BabsfromKansas hasn't recovered yet.

qualified?

Please, if Obama had picked someone similarly "qualified"---the right would have pounced.

My God, the right argued that Edwards wasn't qualified.

In Good News from Iraq: Today the U.S. handed over Anbar Province to the Iraqis, a province that was "lost" just two years ago.

Another reason to bring the troops home.

Yay!

Sarah Palin has more exucutive experience and experience in fighting corruption than Mayor Daley Chicago machine candidate Obama or the ultimate D.C. insider, Joe Biden.

If you are talking executive experience for being governor, so did George Bush, we know where that took us.
Obama is a brilliant critical analytical thinker we know his stand on all the major issues - war, foreign policy (he saw him in action from Kabul to London, from Gaza to Berlin), we know his plans in health care, social security, education, global warming.

We have witnessed his management skills with the best and most daring campaign organization involving millions of grassroots. Thats why he is where he is and will be our next president.
The times are too critical for more mediocrity and distraction in leadership.

Besides the sin of being a Democrat in Chicago, can you actually point to some corruption on Obama's part?

And why does an ethics bill not count as fighting corruption?

The last child born to Gov.Palin really is her 15 year old daughter's child. Just like the story of her husband father a child during the marriage. Gov.Palin is trying to cover up the truth. First, of all, you can check the Alaska newspapers and news sources and see that a lot of this "evidence" is on the money. In March,Gov.Palin claimed she was 7 months pregnant but delivered the baby a month later (it would have been 4 weeks early which would have made the baby preterm). And would have made the news! But the baby weighed 6 lbs 2 oz which suggests a full term baby. Gov.Palin is nothing more then another lying underhanded Republican. She is trying to hide the shame of not watching her children properly. Another curious fact that you have not picked up on is that Ms Palin supposedly went into labor while attending an energy conference in Texas. She claims her water broke in the morning, she delivered a midday speech, and then made the 8-hour flight back to Alaska, while in labor, to deliver the baby. I just cannot believe that after her water broke she would deliver a speech, go to an airport the requisite 2-hours before a flight and then make an 8 hour flight back to Alaska to deliver the baby. After her water broke, how did she know that the baby would not be delivered within 2 or 3 hours?

So she will come out soon and tell us that her OWN son is fighting to make the world safe for Democracy?

NOT to get more oil?

But most of the Democrats and others have been saying this war was wrong. Is Sarah Palin on the side of the Dems or is she for Republicans? Now that Bush is getting out of Iraq,, negotiating for a combined with the Maliki Government, a Timeline for withdrawal of Americans,, will she support BUSH?

Where does she stand on our Troops coming home from Iraq? If she would back BUSH,, her son may not have to even risk his life? Her own son could be safe,,, along with all our children.

Wait,, is Palin wanting to BOMB IRAN??

Is Sarah Palin getting us ready for MORE wars OIL????

The 100 year McCain WARS?

Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Not good!

All the best
