In a recent BusinessWeek interview, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) admitted that she believes the Iraq war was fought because of oil:
We are a nation at war and in many [ways] the reasons for war are fights over energy sources, which is nonsensical when you consider that domestically we have the supplies ready to go.

The only rationale they could use for her statement is to say that the oil in Iraq needs to be kept out of the hands of terrorists and other anti-U.S. interests. And that's a pretty weak position.
No Kidding, Sarah! Do you think we don't know that? But according to your new Lord and Master and Bush/Cheney we went into Iraq to overthrow a DICTATOR!! That was how we got in to this sham of a war! I can imagine already how The High Master Karl Rove is clamiping down on you making this statement. it does not follow their plan to stay in Iraq for 100 years! Dear God, as a woman, I implore you to go home before you are destroyed by McCain/Rove and Bush/Cheney. THEY ARE MAKING A FOOL OF YOU!!!

Is Sarah saying that wars for oil are OK? Is Palin suggestion we should invade other countries who have resources we need rather than seeking energy independence like Obama is proposing?
Wind, Solar, Geothermal, Renewable celluloseic, corn, beets, Bio-Diesel and the NEW JOBS they mean for America should be abandoned?
Yes,, I know she is for drilling in Anwar,,, but is she supporting Iraq as GOOD?

She admitted that the WMD issue was a lie and our children are dying for a product rather than national security.
She said we went to war with a nation that had what we wanted all along.

For crying out loud, why is this stuff only on HuffPo and not being run over and over again in ad after ad after ad? I want ads out there showing Palin laughing when a disk jockey called her rival a b**** and fat and showing McCain laughing when an audience member said the same thing about Sen. Clinton (what little respect they both have for women); how about an ad that shows cindy McCain saying that Palin has experience because Alaska is next Russia; an ad showing the size her pathetic city hall building next to pictures of the White House, the Kremlin, etc. to show the gravity of this situation; an ad showing her saying the war is about oil, etc. There is so much s*it out there on this ridiculous pick, and I can't believe NO ONE has pounced yet. It is infuriating as we Dems are letting the Repigs define her on THEIR terms to the American people. Sound just like 2004.
That may have been the original (undisclosed to the public at the time) impetus for the war. But it sure hasn't panned out that way, quite the opposite. It would have been more cost effective had we invested all those billions of dollars in alternative, renewable sources of energy. And if that hadn't panned out, we still would have been ahead since no Americans would have been killed or maimed in that endeavor.
If and WHEN the moratoria is lifted on WEST COAST drilling, there are rigs already off CA coast that can supply substantial amounts of oil to refineries within a year. And since exploration and development is already going on in AK, bringing more on line could occur within 1 - 3 years.
Wake up people, this Iraq statement is not a revelation.
But the refineries are normally at near capacity, so exactly how would that work?
You ever travel in montana ,wyoming, dakotas? if you did you would see a vast amount of oil rigs not pumping at all, and if you were to ask those that are paid by the oil compaines to maintain these sites you would find out that its not that there is not any oil to pump down there, but its that they choose to not pump, those sites are sitting idle, why? MaxBob is right.
"Ready to go"? The resources at home are hardly ready, unless you count that as ready to make an impact on oil prices in 20+ years.
Finally she tells the truth.
I wonder how they will spin this.
