Palin

Washington Independent:

Palin, a lifelong member of the National Rifle Assn., started her career as a member of her local city council in Wasilla, Alaska, a town about 45 miles outside of Anchorage, in 1992. She was elected Wasilla's mayor in 1996, when the city's population was about 4,600, according to a 1997 press report (via nexis).

In this role, Palin acted in a way that eerily foreshadows her recent actions while governor. Early in her tenure as mayor, the city council threatened to recall her over accusations that she fired the city's police chief, Irl Stambaugh, and the library director, Mary Ellen Emmons, without warning. She accused them in a letter saying: "I do not feel I have your full support in my efforts to govern the city of Wasilla. Therefore I intend to terminate your employment ..." (The Anchorage Daily News, via nexis) ...

The matter did not follow her as she rose to higher positions in Alaska. In fact, the first firing was nearly forgotten, even when the second firing scandal broke. Perhaps in a state desperate for a reformer, Palin's anti-money-for-votes persona resonates more strongly. In the coming weeks and months, we'll find out if does on the national stage as well.

When you are a manager and an executive you have to hire and fire people. Obama has never been a manager and have not had to hire or fire anyone (other than his political cohorts in the campaign). In fact he has no political track record of anything other than a few speeches. But his non-political track record includes Rezko, Ayers and Wright! What a great company!! BTW, will Rezko get a pardon if Obama becomes President??

George Bush was a two-term governor in Texas.
A lot of good it did, eh?

Palin appears to be the perfect successor to Chaney. Her willingness to abuse power ; we just cannot stand 4 more years of this. Maybe Chaney could stay on as her mentor

Palin has some nerve for accepting the VP job. If I was McCain, this is a nightmare.

I'm still laughing at Tucker Bounds, that idiot! "She deployed and equipped troops to Iraq!" No, she didn't...there goes that "foreign policy expert" stance too, did McCain really think the Gov. of a state deploys troops!?

ArmyCentrist;

I was absolutely, amazed as that guy tried as hard as he could to come up with something legitmate that she did as far as foreign policy. After that interview McSame cancelled his interview with CNN citing the interview was negative. Campbell also caught a female spokes person for McSame, that coundn't cite any experience Palin has to run this country if needed.

Palin herself said she didn't know what the VP position does and oh; how I hope that Biden has a copy of that video, where she says that in an interview. She even agreed to that bridge to nowhere and now she's flip/flopped and claimed she said no thanks.

I have this gut feeling that she wasn't vetted fully and that there's more dirt in her cabin to come out. I can't wait until the Presidential debate on the 16th of this month.

Seems McCain/Palin (or McPalin as I like to call them) would be a presidency surrounded by "yes men". Remind you of another president??

On another note, the world is looking on at this crap and we have failed to dissapoint them again.

The republicans need to get their act together for this is one step away from white trash. If Annie Oakley were a democrat, republicans would have declared war and attacked her like they did Michelle Obama and Obama's 2 little girls calling them brats during the Dem convention. You can't have it both ways. Then again maybe so, adulty is in McCain's past.

Even without all the scandals (distractions)...
Aside from the fact that she is undereducated for high office (B.S. in journalism)...
And aside from her paltry 1.5 year experience as a Governer...
And forgetting the fact that she lacks any foreign policy experience whatsoever...

Palin is a far right wingnut creationist who denies human causes of global warming, has little or no use for science, and who believes that girls and women who are raped, or victims of incest, should be forced by government to carry their rapist's child to term. What kind of prison term would she suggest for women who seek back alley abortions? Why should rapists have the right to choose the mothers of their children? Palin is far out of the mainstream here, with over 70% of Americans believing that for rape/incest situations, abortions should be legal.

This woman is cruel and dangerous, and has no business anywhere near the US Constitution. John McCain sold his soul to the far right religious wing of the Republican theocracy, and Palin was selected to nail down that powerful vote. A vote for McCain/Palin in November is nothing less than a vote for theocratic power. Several more years of this, and the United States government will become Christian Islam.
No way. No how. No McCain/Palin!

Calling the possible theocratic de-evolution of our government "Christian Islam" is not fair nor accurate. If that calamity befalls us it could be called:

Tabernacle Taliban
Christro-fascism
Evangelical Zealotry

or maybe what P@lin herself subscribes to, Christian Dominionism.

I was going for the "shock" value, but yes, she is a Dominionist (Assembly of God, Fellowship of Christian Athletes).

Don't we already have Evangelical Zealotry, about 40% or so of the Republican Party? I like Tabernacle Taliban the best.
