I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Palin

Washington Independent:

Palin, a lifelong member of the National Rifle Assn., started her career as a member of her local city council in Wasilla, Alaska, a town about 45 miles outside of Anchorage, in 1992. She was elected Wasilla's mayor in 1996, when the city's population was about 4,600, according to a 1997 press report (via nexis).

In this role, Palin acted in a way that eerily foreshadows her recent actions while governor. Early in her tenure as mayor, the city council threatened to recall her over accusations that she fired the city's police chief, Irl Stambaugh, and the library director, Mary Ellen Emmons, without warning. She accused them in a letter saying: "I do not feel I have your full support in my efforts to govern the city of Wasilla. Therefore I intend to terminate your employment ..." (The Anchorage Daily News, via nexis) ...

The matter did not follow her as she rose to higher positions in Alaska. In fact, the first firing was nearly forgotten, even when the second firing scandal broke. Perhaps in a state desperate for a reformer, Palin's anti-money-for-votes persona resonates more strongly. In the coming weeks and months, we'll find out if does on the national stage as well.

Pictures of the McCain/Palin campaign ads look more like a T.V ad promoting a new comedy titled, "Father of the ex-beauty queen"
Each scandal/episode are hilarious. Can't wait for tomorrow to see the latest shocker.

His daugher is more or less in the age range of the other children yet not in the pictures; is he trying to hid her?

is it true that Palin has more executive experience than McCain as well, being that he was never a mayor or governor?

If that's true, it means that Palin has more executive experience than McCain, Biden, Obama, and the majority of the senators in the USA combined.

She has to be "The One"!

Wow! that is awesome.

But the G(eezers)O(ld school)P(olitics) feel that using politics to fire someone Gonzo style is something to be expected and respected. Nothing wrong with using your position illegally, without morals. That's how politics works!

McCain did one thing right, by recklessly picking an unvetted candidate with no real experience on the national level, serious ethics violations including an ongoing investigation, and deep family problems including a possible faked pregnancy to cover for an underage daughter-
NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT HOW GREAT OBAMA'S SPEECH WAS ANYMORE

Unbelievable and so true. I believe this was the real reason for picking her. The Obama speech, plus today's gathering for his speech has been completely obliterated by this BS. The Gop knows what it is doing. We are not paying attention again. She is a ploy. If they vetted her and knew about all this then they know that the public would be more caught up with this. They have led us poor sheeple again and like a.. holes we are following the bouncing ball. We need to be checking out the vting machines in our states and keeping a watchful eye on how they are going to steal this one from under our noses again. Teen pregnancy my a.s, every other little girl in my hood has a kid. We NEED TO PAY ATTENTION!!!!

She doesn't even appear qualified to be the governor of her small state.

A reformer? Sounds like political corruptness to me. The Chief of Police and Library Director are not political appointees of the major!

This story and the one about Palin's ex brother-in-law is no different than Bush firing those federal prosecutors because they didn't adhere to Bush's political agenda, so 4 years of MCCain and Palin is no different than 4 more years of Bush.

Exxon John has been trying and trying to get aboard the Change Train but it would seem neither he nor Palin are quite honest enough.

So why would she fire the towns librarian. Could she also be guilty of censorship. She wanted to remove sex-ed books and books on evolution?

Palin’s veracity is really in question. The one positive respond that resonated with the focus group was her comment that she rejected the bridge to nowhere, and we have learn that her respond was not truthful. On Palin’s first day on the national scene and she lied. Nobody asked her the question. She volunteered the lie. Then, we couple this with ‘Troopergate’– so we begin to have a pile on. Next is the Matanuska Maid Dairy (aka Mat Maid) story which suggest that will do whatever she wants without any regard for the law or ethical public policy. If the Babygate story proves to be true, it is significant because it makes part of her compelling biography a lie. In three incidences Palin has problems with truthiness and ethics.

When is the next Sturgis-type event scheduled for the campaign to visit?

I will take the day off and watch the coverage of that one.

It seems that Palin's main reform is that, where previosly oil companies would bring giant bags of money with "$" printed on them for GOP bribes, now all GOP bribes are given in non-descript briefcases

If McCain thinks that all the people involved in these various Palin problems will keep quiet, he's even dumber than I think he is. Believe me, they will all be singing like birds between now and Nov. 4.

Pass the popcorn.

The author somehow neglected to state that Palin's brother-in-law, used to beat her sister and threatened to kill her.

Sure. And you are privey to such facts how? If there was real documentation of this, then he should be fired but I doubt if it exists. Show the evidence, not the Republican spin. We all know that things get ugly in divorces and people don't tell the truth.

How do you excuse the other two firings?

Thanks for justifying her unethical and criminal acts.

But shouldn't that be the domain of the courts rather than the Governor using her minions and husband and herself to try to coerce people to fire the guy. How does that protect her sister? So she axes the public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan because he wouldn't bow to the pressure. I'm sure Mr. Monegan feels bad for the Governor's problems. He should have just followed orders like a good sieg heiler.
