I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Palin

Washington Independent:

Palin, a lifelong member of the National Rifle Assn., started her career as a member of her local city council in Wasilla, Alaska, a town about 45 miles outside of Anchorage, in 1992. She was elected Wasilla's mayor in 1996, when the city's population was about 4,600, according to a 1997 press report (via nexis).

In this role, Palin acted in a way that eerily foreshadows her recent actions while governor. Early in her tenure as mayor, the city council threatened to recall her over accusations that she fired the city's police chief, Irl Stambaugh, and the library director, Mary Ellen Emmons, without warning. She accused them in a letter saying: "I do not feel I have your full support in my efforts to govern the city of Wasilla. Therefore I intend to terminate your employment ..." (The Anchorage Daily News, via nexis) ...

The matter did not follow her as she rose to higher positions in Alaska. In fact, the first firing was nearly forgotten, even when the second firing scandal broke. Perhaps in a state desperate for a reformer, Palin's anti-money-for-votes persona resonates more strongly. In the coming weeks and months, we'll find out if does on the national stage as well.

I predict that she will withdraw from the nomination within a week, saying it has become a distraction to the campaign, and then he'll pick Lieberman, whom he wanted anyway.

Honestly, I don't think she will make it through the evening. Keep in mind, I think her nomination comes up for a vote tomorrow or Wednesday. She will not make it beyond that point. I don't think she will even make it to that point, and losing a roll call vote. It would be too embarrassing. She is gone by the morning....Sadly.

It's possible.

But she has thrilled the base, and Holy Joe would have the opposite effect.

Either way, it is clear that her selection was an act of total desperation.

Please allow the Republicans and McCain to have their Vice President without rancor. After all she is pretty, perky Palin.

Palin eloped with her high-school boyfriend, Todd Palin, on August 29, 1988, when she was 24 years old.[7] "It was a shock but she did it because she knew we couldn’t afford a big white wedding", her mother said.[109]

44-19=25

Was Sarah pregnant when she married Todd?

who gives a rat's ass? she's got enough RELEVANT baggage, and NO RELEVANT EXPERIENCE, to focus on. the only thing that this is relevant to is the ridiculousness and inefficacy of the conservatives' "abstinence only" bury your head in the sand approach to human sexuality.

It points to her stunning level of hypocrisy.

Other than that, it has no value.

This is exactly what we mean when we refer to an abbreviated vetting process and the problems with it... She has no clue of how deep reporters will dig to find stories; even Alaska isn't cold enough to freeze these leads.

"Out of her league" doesn't even begin to describe it.

I can't wait to see the first press conference...

Actually, it was not hard to find. It was originally on Wikipedia before they revamped her page. There is another similar site that I found yesterday by accident that still has all the original Wikipedia information on it.

On which subject? The inauguration or the shotgun wedding? I'll bet the wedding is priority.

It works. Try again. I just opened it.

However, I will say that I did read about this on Saturday and it seems that the police chief did not support her political views and that is why she fired him. Unfortunately, according to the story I read, she was within her rights to fire him even based on his lack of support of her political views.

The fact that she was within her rights does not make her actions ethical or aceptable.

It was petty, and a clear abuse of her power.

Sarah Palin is a far right wing neo conservative. She is just like Bush and McCain.

Bush, McCain, and Palin, they are all the same. I don't want 4 more years of corruption and the right wing conservative agenda in the White House.

Women can kiss their reproductive rights goodbye if they vote for McCain and Palin. The American worker can kiss their job goodbye if they vote for McCain and Palin because McCain and Palin are for NAFTA. Barack Obama is against NAFTA.

McCain and Palin will turn back decades of Civil Rights laws and bring our country back to the horse and buggy days with their United States Supreme Court nominees and with their political agenda.

As Hillary said, NO way, NO how, NO McCain!

VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA AND LETS GET A DEMOCRAT WIN IN NOVEMBER!

yeah, and she fired monegan in part for not working on alcohol issues and then, wanted to place him on top of ABC. odd. further, she wanted him to fight bootlegging. why, because she recieved support from bar owners.

This is making my day and I will always remember this election when I need a good laugh. McCain keeps wrecking his talking points. Experience, family values, country first, straight talk, good judgment. He reminds me of someone on one of those rope bridges you see in movies and the thing is giving way and he's running as fast as he can to get to the other side before he plunges. And it's all in slow motion. He's not gonna make it and he can't fix this. McCain got in over his head with Obama and he's unraveling.

Countdown to disaster for the Republicans.

McBush should dump this anti American pro Alaskan independence holy roller for a more sensible choice. And dump his self while he is at it. Bring back a real holly roller for President. Send us Huckabee!

Difficult.
If he does do as you suggest, he admits poor judgement, incompetence and shooting from the hip.

More likely, the Harriet Miers scenario:
"I did not know this would be so difficult. I need more time with my family."
