Palin

Washington Independent:

Palin, a lifelong member of the National Rifle Assn., started her career as a member of her local city council in Wasilla, Alaska, a town about 45 miles outside of Anchorage, in 1992. She was elected Wasilla's mayor in 1996, when the city's population was about 4,600, according to a 1997 press report (via nexis).

In this role, Palin acted in a way that eerily foreshadows her recent actions while governor. Early in her tenure as mayor, the city council threatened to recall her over accusations that she fired the city's police chief, Irl Stambaugh, and the library director, Mary Ellen Emmons, without warning. She accused them in a letter saying: "I do not feel I have your full support in my efforts to govern the city of Wasilla. Therefore I intend to terminate your employment ..." (The Anchorage Daily News, via nexis) ...

The matter did not follow her as she rose to higher positions in Alaska. In fact, the first firing was nearly forgotten, even when the second firing scandal broke. Perhaps in a state desperate for a reformer, Palin's anti-money-for-votes persona resonates more strongly. In the coming weeks and months, we'll find out if does on the national stage as well.

My guess is that this woman can out Cheney Cheney...she appears to be hard, cold and smart with the sense of humor (and honor) of a rattlesnake...just like Darth Cheney!

actually, shouldn't we call it chic clothing?
even my referring to her as stylish would be a stretch , considering the taxidermy piece she wears on her head, a la Amy Winehouse.

Fellow Democrats. Pass the word along. Governer Sarah Palin needs to turn down the VP spot today and now! For the good of her family, her state, and the United States of America. Pass this message along...

The difference between Bush and Palin is that Bush made his decisions from the gut, whereas Palin comes from the heart. It will play well wherever the mind is considered a Satanic influence for its tendency to think unsavory thoughts.

Alaska was so desperate, like mccain , that they just didn't vett this woman fully when she went from mayor to Governor! Her approval rateing was already on the decline because of all this!

I read some blog comments from Alaskans and it seems her opponent was so bad they would have voted for a snowball to get rid of him.

This woman is a disaster in high heels, and yet, she will have that vile party leading in the polls in short order. SHE IS A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER TO AMERICA, and indeed the rest of humanity.

Someone who wanted to censor the books in the library from science, other religions besides the Assembly of God religion, Mark Twain, and the librarian wouldn't go for it.

Bad strategy.
He just needs to go after Bush/McCain policies one by one, and have her defend them.

i ask once again: Did McSame vet this candidate? it appears that he either waived the vetting process or looked the other way in hopes that the media who loves him and overlooks all his shortcomings and gaffes, would once again, enable him in hiding the fact that Ms. Palin is unqualified and cannot hold up under scrutiny.

he did not vet her. his team arrived in anchorage yesterday. obamas team arrived 3 days ago.

according to the achorage papers.

it seems he made this choice while in a snit with rove over romney vs lieberman - this was his knee jerk response.

very presidential.

I was never a Republican, but there was a time when I respected the party as the Loyal Opposition.

Now the Republican party has selected the one person whom they feel is best suited to lead the nation: John McCain.

McCain has looked at all the most promising prospects among all the citizens of the country, male and female, Democrat, Republican and Independent.

Having done so he has made his first Executive Decision.

He has decided there is not one person better suited to guide our nation in case he should falter, than Sarah Palin.

In his view she is the absolute best this nation has to offer, bar none.

Please dedicate a portion of your energy and money to help elect the candidate of your choice this November.

Please.

US attorney firings? GWB

Police chief and library director? SP

Prizing loyalty above differing viewpoints that may or may not be your own?

Would she listen to honest, objective counsel? Or 'stay the course'?

Sounds like more of the same.
