Biden: Difference Between Me And Palin -- "She's Good-Looking"

Joe Biden says there are obvious differences between himself and fellow vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, but they're not just on policy. She's good-looking.

"There's a gigantic difference between John McCain and Barack Obama and between me and I suspect my vice presidential opponent," Biden said at an outdoor rally Sunday, getting ready to hit the GOP ticket for their economic policies.

"She's good-looking," he quipped.

Joe i love you but you need to reign that in. Stick to the issues you mission and I know you want to accept it is to show American how much of a RIGHT WINGER this woman is. In times like this there is no way in hell Americans would give someone that far on the right the opportunity to be President. A lot of people are missing the point. Palin's looks are the only thing she has going for her. She's not smart, she has no foreign policy experience, she has no political track record and she has real questionable political chums like Senator Stevens. Her qualifications for the job are her looks and her political affiliations. In other words, she's like a lot of Republican choices; cute and compliant, like Dana Perino. Looks, no brains. This was Biden's point.

I know what he is trying to say, and how he is trying to frame Palin: that Palin is a "showhorse" that pales in comparison to the "workhose" record and energy of Obama/Biden. That she's a "pretty face" interested in building and projecting the visual of herself as a champion of working families, instead of embracing and being a champion of actual pro-working family legislation and initiatives like "equal work for equal pay". This can be done effectively.

Actually, Joe Biden wasn't try to do anything to frame Palin. He was just providing yet another example of his wonderful sense of self-deprecating humor. Seriously! I think you and others may need to lighten up a bit! As you must know, self-deprecating humor has always been a hallmark of great leaders...RFK and MLK come to mind...and the Obama/Biden ticket appears to have it in spades!

I know this is a serious campaign and an election of unprecedented importance, even...but that doesn't mean we should check our senses of humor at the door...far from it, we are going to need a healthy sense of humor - self-deprecating and otherwise - to survive this thing with our collective sanity in tact!

so, it's sexist for Biden or Obama to recognize the obvious fact that Sarah Palin is beautiful.

Her beauty is a good thing... it gives her an advantage - like physical height among men. it is real.

But somehow it's not sexist for John McCain to select young and beautiful Sarah Palin over more qualified candidates (like Susan Collins former Senator/Gov of Maine and a half dozen men)?

I wonder if it reallly advances the cause of women to promote an underqualified young and beautiful woman. It might be better for women to pick the qualified man.
