Focus on the Family founder James Dobson (an big supporter of the McCain-Palin ticket) released the following statement on Bristol Palin's pregnancy:

"In the 32-year history of Focus on the Family, we have offered prayer, counseling and resource assistance to tens of thousands of parents and children in the same situation the Palins are now facing. We have always encouraged the parents to love and support their children and always advised the girls to see their pregnancies through, even though there will of course be challenges along the way. That is what the Palins are doing, and they should be commended once again for not just talking about their pro-life and pro-family values, but living them out even in the midst of trying circumstances.

"Being a Christian does not mean you're perfect. Nor does it mean your children are perfect. But it does mean there is forgiveness and restoration when we confess our imperfections to the Lord. I've been the beneficiary of that forgiveness and restoration in my own life countless times, as I'm sure the Palins have.

"The media are already trying to spin this as evidence Gov. Palin is a 'hypocrite,' but all it really means is that she and her family are human. They are in my prayers and those of millions of Americans."

Nice attitude - basically do what ever you want to whom ever you want and just say "sorry" later.

What I hate about this guy is his hypocrisy, arrogance, and self-rightousness. Also, he is exceptionally inconsistent like all far righters - treating the Bible like it's a Chinese menu filled with hidden asteriks pointing out exceptions to all the "rules".

And by the way, Dobson - weather in Denver could not have been better. Either (1) God does not listen to you or (2) He thinks you're a horse's a** like the rest of us or (3) all of the above. Take your pick - that's what you're good at.

If this man was a Christian, he wold have risen up against the government in 2003. He would have preached to his congregation the evil lies that their government was unleashing into their living rooms. He would have marched, prayed, preached, collected money, pleaded, begged, rent his clothes, poured ashes on his head, fasted to keep George W. Bush and Dick Cheney from starting a preemptive war in Iraq, against a people who had done nothing to us. He would be preaching every moment of his life at this point for the release of political prisoners and for their humane treatment. He would be demanding that his government cease torturing other human beings. He would be leading his congregation in doing the same things. But he's not a Christian. I don't care how many times he insists that he is, he isn't. He's a fraud. A big, fat, lying fraud. His books are full of the most dangerous, ignorant garbage that can be put in print. He's a tax cheat too. In days gone bye, he would already have been tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail.

Here's the kind of mother I am:

If my teenage daughter were pregant, I wouldn't drag her into the public court of opinion. I would gladly sacrifice my career ambition to protect her and our family from national scandal. These are my "family values". I am an atheist.

Have a look at your goofy-azzed abstinence policies and ask yourself why they have utterly failed, Dobson, and please, focus on your own family, first.

I would have put my daughter on birth control before she was sexually active and made it clear that she could always come to me to talk about her love affairs. I would have given my daughter a comprehensive education about her sexuality and health. We would stand a far better chance of welcoming a baby my daughter is ready to support and raise with a loving partner.

I agree with you applebutter....no way would I put my daughter through all this! And if I had a 4month special needs child would I put myself or family through all this! This tells me a lot about her.... I think she is very selfish! And what this choice tells me about McCain is that MCCAIN WOULD RATHER WIN AN ELECTION THAN PUT COUNTRY FIRST!

Mr Dobson please,

You have the disrespect for America to call out to your flock of supposedly faith believers in Jesus to pray for rain on a democratic convention and all those that attend for what ever reason.

Because you find it benefitial to use God as a hate tool?

After these prayers for storms you conjure to smite Democrats.

You find the republicans have Hurricanes Gustav and hanna coming in on them.

Did God answer the prays correctly or did he send a message for your misguidance and disregard for
other human beings?

But that is not enough,

NOW,

You publicly declare Gov Palin is living the pro life values by having her daughter inpregnated at 16 yrs of age? Yes, she is 17 yrs old now.

Having children out of wedlock is your pro life values?

Sir you have NO business in the Jesus business.......................................!

Dems/Repubs is nothing more than a diversion.
We are Americans.

If you let a religious person (religious being totally unproven as truth) dictate your moral principles to you, and change laws to benefit their views, at your expense, then you deserve the steamroller that will run you over.

Fundamentalists are a danger to intelligent, passive people, because they are neither intelligent, nor passive.

Mr. Dobson you better hope a republican gets in so you can keep getting away passing off your church as an institution of god, instead of a political arm of the republican party. You owe the treasury, american people, taxes on all of the money you have collected since 2000.

You should see the highway signs Colorado gave Focus under a Republican gov. They are bigger than some cities or Ft. Carson's signs.

My old man used to look to Dobson and his books for "enlightement". Choke holds, leather belts, fists, and endless corporal punishment is what I got out of the deal to appease my father's petty fears of raising a kid. I owe you one, "Dr." Dobson, if I ever run into your hippocritical, sociopathic being, for lending that extra helping hand.

This clown is not pro-life, he's only pro this being a "get 'em to the polls issue." If he were pro-life, he wouldn't be a hateful warmonger, or pro-death penalty. He just wants to keep 'em dumb, so he can keep stealing their tithes.

with Dobson and his kind of Christians, it's an Us vs. Them world.

If you're saved, you can do anyathing you want and the Lord will forgive you. You're assured a place in Heaven when you die.

If you're not saved, not matter how good and upright a life you live, your doomed to Hell nad eternal punishment. And in this life you get preached against by the saved.

GW Bu#sh (remember him? he still occupies the White House) fell in with this saved crowd when he went off the bottle. Small wonder, then, that he sees the world in black-and-white good-guys-vs-bad-guys terms.

Well they're damned sure living out the CONSEQUENCES of "pro-life values" when one of those "values" is ignoring reality and denying birth control and sex education to their kids.

How dare her call herself a good mother and put her daughter through this. She has effectively supplanted her selfish political desires for the needs of her daughter and her family. Very, very poor judgment throughout. And, whether McCain knew about this or didn't he has shown immense poor judgment.
