Politico:

First lady Laura Bush said today that sexism aimed at Sarah Palin was a very real prospect and suggested Democrats watch what they say about the Alaska governor and John McCain's ticketmate.

"The other side will have to be particularly careful," Bush said in an interview on Fox News from St. Paul, "because that's something we all looked at."

Questioned about whether Palin may face sexism from the media in the way Hillary Rodham Clinton supporters claim she did, Bush said: "I think that's a possibility."

Perhaps Laura Bush, Cindy McCain, Phyllis Schlafly, Nicole Wallace & Ann Counter should reel in the pervy white male republicans who seem to be publicly getting off on Ms. Palin's candidacy with inappropriate sexually charged statements (ie, Buchanan said he wanted to see her in "ankle holsters" & Robertson said she looks "hot"). ISN'T THAT REALLY SEXIST?

Why aren't they calling out the "old white haired dudes" on THAT behavior (vs. being asked to answer hard political questions like any other male or female candidate)?

I disagree. I have been watching Morning Joke on MSNBC this morning, and this media sexism will be completely different than what was used against Hillary.

The GOP talking heads were talking about Mrs. Palin and her guns - wanting to see her with an ankle holster, the bikini/assault rifle photo, etc. I heard Robertson say something to the effect 'Alaska is cold, but she is hot'.

I think I have figured out this vp choice: she's like Viagra for the base. Yup, that must be it.

She's secretly backing Obama, and doesn't want the Democrats to make any major errors. She knows what an idiot W is, and doesn't want her country screwed up by another for years :-)

Isn't the nomination of a woman for the sole reason to attract woman voters itself sexist?

I like Ms. Palin.

I just don't want to see her a heartbeat away from the Presdency. For that matter, I probably wouldn't like to see her as mayor, either.

OH!!! She just played the woman card!!! Where's the outraged Obama press release. She's not allowed to mention that she's different.

The fact that Laura Bush has advice for us....is laughable !

Wow - I'm going to agree with something a Bush says. She's right. ("The Republicans are sexist all the time" is not a defense).

Laura must be getting the same facial treatment as Mary Matalin because they both look like their faces are made of wax.

This talking point in actual fact was given to laura bush by the blonde headed commentator earlier today on foxnews, in an interview with the first lady. i think her names is greta...when the commentator suggested that the dems would have to tread carefully as they don't want to come across as sexist...this was a whole hour before she made her speech...see how fox noise always trys to influence people..(propaganda)

Obama served in the Illinois senate for eight years before Palin got into office, yet he was criticized for not having enough experience. He is also not the mother of five children, one pregnant and one developmentally disabled. How will that work out in the whitehouse? Looks like she will be going through a court battle and on top of that, do we need another insider for the oil companies? No doubt anyone coming with McCain will also be. If she was a democrat, no doubt the repubs would be screaming their heads off and congratulating themselves on a sure victory.
