Coale

Newsweek:

John Coale, a prominent Washington lawyer, husband of Fox TV host Greta Van Susteren and a supporter of Sen. Hillary Clinton, announced today that he was supporting John McCain for president. Coale, who traveled with Sen. Clinton, President Clinton and her family through out the primary season, complained of sexism, and said the Democratic Party is "being taken over by the moveon.org types" in an exclusive interview with Newsweek.com's Tammy Haddad. He said he tried to prevent Clinton's brother, Tony Rodham, from attending an August 18th meeting in Scranton, Pa. with McCain campaign surrogate Carly Fiorina. "I urged him not to go and told him it would embarrass his sister, but he has a mind of his own." Coale says Mr. Rodham asked Ms. Fiorina "about McCain's Supreme Court picks."

Anyone who was a Clinton supporter & now endorses McCain is a hypocrite.

Much as was requested by Limbaugh during the primaries, I suspect that quite a few of the people who professed support for Clinton were actually trying to submarine all Democratic opposition. This also provided cover for any apparent change of heart later on.

As a person from New York state I was never a supporter of her running for President because she is a lightening rod. I would have voted for her had she won but she would have brought out every rabid Republican against her.

Anyone that claims that they now support McCain because he chose an inexperienced woman who might make good is either disingenuous or is willfully ignorant of exactly how much Hillary supporters are hated by the majority of Republicans. Whoever this guy is, the likely case is that he is in the submarine group.

Palin is no Hillary Clinton. When she mentioned Hillary's name during a recent speech she was roundly booed. The message could not be clearer. On nearly every issue the difference between Obama and Clinton is not significant. On the other hand, Palin has virtually nothing in common with any mainstream Democrat outside of gender.

I wonder if RACE has anything to do with this defection?!?! Why would a real democrat that supported HRC endorse McCheese when Hillary and Obama have similar policies?

You answered your own question he is NOT a real democrat. He is not even a democrat he is just someone who wanted influence over his candidate and will get it with Hilary and McCain but wont with Obama because his campaign is funded by the people. Hilary may have a lot of plans and a lot of good intentions but Hilary was beholden to lobbyist its doubtful how much she would have been able to accomplish had she been the next President. The influence of Lobbyist must be broken for Washington to function and by running on that platform Obama got a lot of voters but he has also pitted a lot of powerful people against him some of them even democrats.

This guy is free to support whichever candidate he wants, but his fumbling answers in Newsweek's interview were not exactly impressive. He boils down the reasons for switching to McCain to "sexism" and McCain's anti-torture stand at one of the debates. Listen, Mr. Coale, this country happens to be bogged down in two wars, with a damaged economy, skyrocketing fuel prices, global warming, and the very real threat of a far-right Supreme Court, and these are the best reasons you can come up with after "traveling around" with McCain? Even Joe Lieberman makes more sense. This is a perfect example for why rich dilettantes need to be kept far away from the political process. They're not to be taken seriously.
