Leading Clinton Supporter Endorses McCain

Newsweek:

John Coale, a prominent Washington lawyer, husband of Fox TV host Greta Van Susteren and a supporter of Sen. Hillary Clinton, announced today that he was supporting John McCain for president. Coale, who traveled with Sen. Clinton, President Clinton and her family through out the primary season, complained of sexism, and said the Democratic Party is "being taken over by the moveon.org types" in an exclusive interview with Newsweek.com's Tammy Haddad. He said he tried to prevent Clinton's brother, Tony Rodham, from attending an August 18th meeting in Scranton, Pa. with McCain campaign surrogate Carly Fiorina. "I urged him not to go and told him it would embarrass his sister, but he has a mind of his own." Coale says Mr. Rodham asked Ms. Fiorina "about McCain's Supreme Court picks."

According to a 1998 article by wingnut, Jonah Goldberg, Mr. Coale-VanSusteren:
"is a self-described "ambulance chaser" and has enthusiastically earned himself one of the most nefarious reputations in the country. In 1984 he acquired the nickname "Bhopal Coale" by being the first lawyer to hop on a plane to India to sign up gas-leak victims who couldn't even read their retainer documents. American Lawyer magazine called him "a symbol for everything wrong with the plaintiff's bar." In 1987 the same magazine awarded Coale its Most Frivolous Suit Award: He had sued his tailor, on the grounds that the sub-par work on his shirts had subjected him to "public humiliation . . . severe emotional distress, and embarrassm­ent." The West Virginia Bar tried to disbar both John Coale and Greta Van Susteren for their allegedly unethical behavior in soliciting the families of coal-mine accident victims, among others. Coale's repeated unapologetic defenses of his professional practices are true to form: "Everything I've done is permissible under the First Amendment.­""

I don't believe anyone who truly supported Hillary and her platform would ever support McCain, who is diametrically opposed to everything Clinton believes in. It proves that some people were supporting Hillary because she was Hillary, and not because they believed she would be a great president. I don't think HRC would appreciate it.

Obama should have consolidated his party and bring Hillary on board. Unite his party and they can go out swinging. I am afraid there are a lot of people who saw how Obama treated Hillary and they are P*issed and they want to hit back. People are not rational beings, anger is a strong feeling and the Rovian model is about taping into people's anger and resentment and manipulating their disaffection. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

This is just another of Hillary's campaign funders - mad b/c he didn't get what he thought he paid for. Listen to the interview -- does he even understand that McCain caved on the torture thing?? His "reasons" make no sense -- If he really supported HIllary as ardently as he claims - he wouldn't be voting for someone who stands against everything for which she fought...Y­ou will notice that he doesn't tell the reporter exactly WHY he supported Hillary -- If he did, he would look like a fool b/c his switch to support McCain would look illogical and silly.
