Brown And Bounds

So, I know that one of the reasons John McCain hastily chose Sarah Palin as his running-and-soul mate was because he thought that Palin would exude some general appeal to female voters, which is why she's been out on the stump talking about Hillary Clinton and the eighteen million cracks.

But how's this for a little bit of the old backlash? Say you're Campbell Brown, working professional, educated newswoman. Brown, I'd bet, knows a thing or two about glass ceilings (remember this back and forth with Hillary Clinton at one of CNN's debates?). And along comes Sarah Palin, who's basically reached third on a series of throwing errors, talking about how she's going to break that glass ceiling. And Brown recalls that old Morrissey line: "You just haven't earned it yet, baby."

Hmmmm. You see, it's not just that Brown, faced with the prospect of chasing Tucker Bounds all around the barnyard like he's some kind of stuttering, idiotic chicken, sticks with insisting that Bounds answer a simple and direct question. It's that Brown infuses the proceedings with that little extra dose of extra-special sadistic glee that makes it twice as nice to watch and gives rise to all of my furtive speculations, above.

Watch for yourself, and tell me Brown isn't enjoying this:

I find it hilarious that liberals want more experience in their VP than their president.

Lest we forget, Obama was chosen only for his opposition to the Iraq war. He's bailed on most of his other stances, like the new rules for FISA.

No, just SOME experience would be a good thing. Apparently you settle for gimmicks.

She has more experience to be vice-president than Oabma has to be president. So apparently you DO settle for gimmicks.

Obama was only president of Harvard Law Review and a Constitutional Law professor, no big whoop. It's doesn't compare to a journalism degree from the University of Idaho.

and BTW, if you think only liberals support Obama, you can tell that to the Republicans who will vote Democrat for the first time due to the sheer incompetence of the today's GOP establishment. Eisenhower would be shocked at the sheer incompetence, malice and hubris of today's GOP.

So he's qualified to be a Senator. Good to know.

And BTW, if you think only conservatives support McCain, you can tell that to the Democrats who will vote Republican for the first time due to the sheer incompetence of Obama's campaign to vet Clinton.

Unless she withdrawals, it's only going to get worse. She and McDumass are currently trying to stay away from the media right now. Think they are both afraid of the questions they will be asked. They arer trying to get her ready for the questions that are coming but what are they going to do about Mc's temper when he's asked something he doesn't want to answer but is asked it again and again by the media. Romney has to be somewhere laughing histerically at the turn of events.

Isn't that experience over performance? Who would you choose.

The sad thing is that this is what passes for "aggressive" journalism these days... Not to trash Ms Brown's interview- it was good as far as it went, but a healthy independent press that was really a "Fourth Estate" which served the public interest would press both parties a lot harder. There are so many tough issues out there which NEITHER party has addressed at all, because the public attention is consumed by this dog-and-pony show fluff like how many houses McCain has, or what Obama's priest said.
Who can tell me what either candidate will do about Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae/ Bear Stearns/ Merril Lynch, and other turmoid in the banking industry? Who can tell me what either candidate would do about the growing trend to federalize local communities' police forces? Has either of them expressed an opinion about this current administrations' philosophy of a "unitary executive" president, who is essentially unaccountable to anybody?
WHERE IS THE AMERICAN PRESS???

I feel your pain. But the truth is the American press is all but dead. Every night I turn on the television hoping for a glimmer or a flicker of light. If you hear a good questions from Brown, Olberman, Maddow, or Moyers it's a good month. The Sunday interview shows are now a complete waste of time. BBC news and the independent on line news organizations seem to be the only chance. But they don't have direct access to the politicians we want to ask the tough questions of.

Wow! America will be thrilled with the movie "The Bridge to Nowhere" featuring the executive decsion of Mrs. P. to rescind support for the political give-away after she supported the political give-away to her own little political island.}!

Wow! What greatness of purpose!

Thank you Campbell! your my hero!!! Finally someone is asking follow up question and not letting the spokesperson spew rhetoric!

Oh, that was downright funny in an uncomfortable, nervous, awkward kind of way. I don't think Campbell was over the line at all....she was asking a fair question to which she never received an answer. Imagine the audacity of an interviewer expecting an answer! How dare she! :-) I think Campbell belongs on the ballot more than Palin. Please, please, please let's don't put another Republican in the White House.... I swear I think they are going to cause the fall of the U.S. if we don't get them out of there!

First of all on Campbell Brown's part, that wasn't a journalistic interview, that was a campaign operative attack!
The media won't say crap about Obama's (The Presidential Candidate's) lack of experience.
But they're all over our VP pick!!!
Isn't Joe Biden there to babysit Barack just like Cheney was for Bush???

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:04 PM on 09/02/2008

Are you serious? Cheney didnt baby sit Bush, he hired people to baby sit him while he was out running the real business!

Bottom line, John McCain's judgment is in question. No matter how the Republican's want to spin it, Palin is a lot of baggage that may end up causing some real trouble. Republican's are on the defensive trying to convince America that Sarah Palin is firm pick and we all know it's not. it was a last minute last resort choice after all the other prospects were rejected by McCain's handlers. And why do they keep comparing Palin to Obama? We all know he doesn't have the experience McCain has. But she needs to be compared to Biden. I don't know why people think, because someone was Governor of a state that makes them ready for higher office. isn't the disaster that is the George Bush a perfect example? And is it me, or did this idiot put Palin on the same level as McCain saying she too had military experience? In addition last time i checked, fighting in a war doesn't factor into whether or not someone is qualified to be President.

"Bottom line, John McCain's judgment is in question."

Only to liberals. McCain's campaign brought in a record $10,000,000 in one weekend. He's been making an average of $25,000,000 per month.

Bottom line, any conservative questioning McCain's judgment is already in the tank for Obama, so their judgment is impaired. And as for liberals, they chose Obama, so their judgment is nonexistent.

Well, then you haven't been paying attention...
by the way Obama has the exact same experience as your republican Abe Lincoln, accept Obama probably has more foreign relations experience. But nobody in history has had less experience than Palin. Hey does the name Dan Quayle ring a bell?

LOL!! Comparing Lincoln to Obama?! That's rich.

"dphilip" is right, Obama is the least qualified person of all those running for office, president or VP, to be commander-in-chief. And Brown's interview demonstrated her left leaning bias by attacking Palin's supposed lack of experience instead of attacking Obama's outright lack of experience.

BTW, Obama's pick of Biden proved he knew it too.

I honestly didn't think Campbell had it in her to be an objective journalist. Married to neocon apologist and former Bush appointee Dan Senor, I always assumed that she would be a cheerleader for the GOoPeRs. Way to go girl!
