Washington Post:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin began building clout in her state's political circles in part by serving as a director of an independent political group organized by the now embattled Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens.

Palin's name is listed on 2003 incorporation papers of the "Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, Inc.," a 527 group that could raise unlimited funds from corporate donors. The group was designed to serve as a political boot camp for Republican women in the state. She served as one of three directors until June 2005, when her name was replaced on state filings.

Palin's relationship with Alaska's senior senator may be one of the more complicated aspects of her new position as Sen. John McCain's running mate; Stevens was indicted in July 2008 on seven counts of corruption.

This is the real meat of the matter, along with Troopergate, and the Bridge to nowhere.
I read also that she left Wasilla with $20 million of debt for her 'iimprovements'. Where is the fiscal responsibility?

The RNC has a sign up at their convention that says "Country First" Well what happened to "Country First" during the last eight years? What happened to "Country First" during KATRINA, before the lies that started the Iraq War, 45 million that doesn't have healthcare, before millions of jobs were shipped overseas, before rewarding companies to ship them overseas, before billions going to Halliburtion without any other bids, before vetoing the children's healthcare bill, before allowing CEO's to walk away with millions while laying off their employees, and the list goes on. Please answer these questions for me.

The Bush/McCain Republicans must think the American people are ignorant. Who in the world would vote for a Republican after witnessing the past 8 years?

You know what? I think it's very possible that the Obama campaign (which has a really competent executive at the helm, it seems to me, given their extraordinary successes) probably vetted Sarah Palin MUCH, MUCH MORE THOROUGHLY than the McCain camp did. So, they don't have to say much of anything about it--they can simply watch this feeding frenzy unfold. They actually have a plan for winning this campaign, and aren't just reacting to the news of the day.
Bravo for competence and leadership and taking the high road!
Go Obama/Biden!

527s are supposed to be independent of the candidate(s) they support. The wife of the chairman of the Alaska state Republican Party was on the 527's board? Palin was on the board, then got endorsed by Stevens less than a year after she was off of it? Did VECO donate any money to the 527? Something smells stinky fishy about this.

Word is out now that she is a former member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a party that is wanting to secede from the United States.
She recently sent a video address of support for their mission at their convention. Part of their mission is to infiltrate other parties to take over their causes within that party.

Quite the reformer, indeed.

Secessionists are, by definition, traitors to the United States.

What would the media say if Michelle Obama had been a member of a group supporting a breakaway Black homeland in, say, the Old South?

Apparently, the only other politician with as many other shoes to drop as Gov. Palin was Imelda Marcos. I really feel sorry for her daughter, Bristol. Hard enough to be an unknown expectant mother at 17, and now this? I don't have kids myself, but I couldn't imagine putting them through this if I did.

This really smacked of tokenism from the beginning, as if Republicans were saying, "Hey, we have women, too!" The further along we get, I think it says more about John McCain's decision-making process (and by extension, those he hires to help with that) than anything else.

Let's just admit it. McCain and his team bungled their first "presidential" decision, the selection of a running mate. They could have done a Google search and found out many of these stories. They didn't talk to people in Alaska, as noted in the New York Times. They really didn't vet her, and there must be at least 10 others whose qualifications wouldn't have been so vehemently questioned. Romney, Pawlenty, Hutchison, Huckabee... I wouldn't have voted for them, but no one would argue they weren't in a good position to step in if it became necessary. The only measurement that counts is the ability to assume the presidency, and Palin's selection was based solely on winning the election.

Maverick? Not when you're sucking up to the social conservative base. More like a loose cannon, willing to jeopardize the country's future just to win an election.

LOL...Imelda Marcos. Scandals increasing weakly by a factor of 2. Ruby encrusted, gold lamais scandals with four inch heels.
I hadn't heard that reference in just long enough to make it funny again.

She IS a reformer. Just you wait and see.

Let's give her a chance. You are spreading a bunch of lies. Besides, when has John McCain ever made a mistake in judgment? He is a great senator and a hero. How many of you were POW'S?

Being a POW has nothing to do with being President.

Keating 5 would be a good start to answer your question...

Since when is POW a requirement to be president? Since when does it have ANYTHING to do with being president?

Yea, she'll reform the ease at which big oil can have their cake and eat it too...

Maybe McCain forgot that he hadn't vetted Palin. The more I'm hearing about her, the more I have to think that someone didn't do their homework. Did he really think that we were just going to buy whatever they had to say without checking it out?!

She has ovaries. Hillary Clinton supporters have/had ovaries. That's all that matters. Women are interchangeable -- right McSame?

I am sorry but you just can't attack us women anymore. I am getting real tired of that anti-women stuff. I know that Hillary and her supporters would be very offended by your attacking women in public office. Where are your manners?

In helping Stevens Palin demonstrated her ability to "build bridges" . She had switchwed "bridge" positions more times than Mitt Romney flip flopped on abortion. Mitt has got to be bummed.
